A research proposal helps the researchers create a roadmap and explain the key concepts to the audience in extreme detail. Its purpose is to convince the publishers and reviewers that a book is worth publishing. It should focus on its target audience, objectives, and core content while writing a book proposal. Also, it is worth noting that the research proposal does not usually focus on the content of the paper itself, but it rather talks about why and how the research can benefit the readers and research community.
Writing and presenting a research proposal effectively will help researchers justify what makes the research problem crucial and present practical ways to find the solution. The document must provide supporting evidence as well as explain the methodology and other requirements of the academic field. Hence, they will be able to develop skills and design a comprehensive research study.
Nearly all research proposals include the following sections:
Introduction
Background Significance
Review of Related Literature and Studies
Research Design, Methods, and Tools
A typical research proposal presentation is only 10 minutes in length with an additional 5 minutes or more for questions and answers. It must be able to cover all aspects of your paper within that time. The presentation will need to cover all of the following areas:
Research Agenda
Background
Research Gap & Purpose
Research Objectives
Matrix Review of Related Literature and Studies
Matrix of Methodology
Scope and Delimitations
The last two CLOs tackled effective ways in writing and presenting a research proposal. Overall, a research proposal describes what researchers will investigate, why it’s important to conduct such study, and how they will do the research. The format of a research proposal varies between fields, but most proposals should contain at least these elements as mentioned above. After the presenting our proposed topic, I have grasped some takeaways when presenting the study. First, is that the main goal of a research proposal is to present and justify the need to study a research problem and to present the practical ways in which the proposed study should be conducted. Using matrices for presenting RRLs and methodology section helped me to easily present the research design and methods, which also helped my researchmates as well as the panelists to fully understand our study. Additionally, using the guides in writing the background and RRLs truly help in providing an in-depth analysis of literature and related studies.
