Life and Works of Rizal

At the end of the course, the students should be expected to get familiarized with the biography of the Philippines' National Hero, including his best selling books, his prophetic and patriotic views about the Philippines and his execution in Bagumbayan. Reading his life and works develop an appreciation and deeper understanding to the students and recognize how his ideals arouse the youth in addressing present societal conditions and issues

His historical background being discussed includes his early life and education in Binan Laguna, Scholastic Triumphs in Ateneo de Manila and Medical Studies at University of Santo Tomas, his further studies and adventures in Spain, Germany and Europe. He also became a member of masonry and published his first novel, Noli Me Tangere "Touch me Not" in Berlin, Germany. The topics and chapters of his life were discussed continuously and a 10-item quiz were held after discussion for the students to deeply understand Rizal's background and his literary works.
