At the end of the course, students should be able to understand what engineering management is, the importance of gaining adequate skills and managerial abilities in engineering ventures as well as to impart the decision-making skills in project management. Also, students are expected to apply the different functions of management across different engineering areas.
Engineering management refers to any activity that combines technical knowledge with the ability to organize and coordinate worker power, materials, machinery and money. It is expected that every engineer should have at least the basic necessary skills on how to effectively supervise a certain applied engineering problem. Prior to successful completion of a project, specific activities and functions throughout the management process should be efficiently and effectively performed by each and every engineer manager.
The following are the Course Learning Objectives (CLOs) containing different topics relevant to the functions and different fields of engineering management:
Explain the field of engineering management
Identify and apply the different functions of management
