Hi everyone!
I hope you're all doing well and have enjoyed a great weekend! If you've been keeping an eye on the news, I bet you have heard that Commissioner Riley has been approved to end hybrid learning and have kids return to a full time in-person schedule on April 5th. There will be a School Committee meeting this Thursday where the start date will be voted on, so we should know more information by the end of the week. I know this is probably very surprising/exciting news for your children and your families. Some students have been asking about it in school, and I know they're really looking forward to seeing all of their friends from both cohorts every day and finally saying goodbye to remote learning-- aren't we all?! I'm sure Mr. Dingman will also keep you all updated with important information as we learn it!
Here's what's going on in school this week:
This Week's Remote Work: Please help your child to remember to put their completed remote work into their Take Home Folder to return to school. There are several highlighted assignments on this week's remote schedule. These assignments are "must-do" assignments and should be completed during your child's remote learning days. This week, the "must-do" assignments are:
Framing Your Thoughts sentence writing (Day 1 Remote Work)
Word Study Written Sort-- Syllable Division(Day 1 Remote Work)
Science Check-in on Google Forms (Day 2 Remote Work)
Silent e spelling check in (Day 2 Remote Work)
Math practice pages: Marbles and Feeding Animals (Day 2 Remote Work)
Science: Reading a Thermometer Practice (Day 2 Remote Work)
Dreambox
Independent Reading
Covid-19 Pool Testing: This week, both cohorts will have an opportunity to receive a Covid-19 test as part of our pool testing program. This happens right inside of our classroom during our morning work time while we are all safely distanced, and kids have been reporting positively about it so far! You must give consent for your child to participate in this program, so please look out for emails from Mr. Dingman for the sign up link!
That's all for now! I'll start posting classroom updates every other week so we don't have so much overlapping information!
Best,
Ms. McLellan
