Week 2-- 9/29-10/2

Hi everyone,

We had the best first week of school! I had so much fun getting to know your kids in person and online, and I hope they've been reporting positively about school as well! Here are some things to keep in mind this week:

Monday--holiday: Please note, there is no school (remote or in-person) on Monday, September 28th due to Yom Kippur. To those who observe this holiday, I wish you well!

Devices: Students will need to bring their charged learning devices to school on all in-person days this week. We will explore some new apps they will be practicing with during remote days.

Photo Permission: Please complete this photo consent form.

Remote Work: I will send students home with some materials that will help them with remote work this week (a small poetry notebook, a printed organizer to help with a read aloud activity, and some math practice pages). Anything that comes home should be brought back to school the following day! We are awaiting a shipment of folders and notebooks to arrive. We will be more organized with materials once we have these items!

Here's a peek into what we did together last week:

Community Building: To help us get to know each other, we shared during many times throughout the day, played games, and did some partner work. Students started a few different art projects including a masked/unmasked self-portrait and an inspirational quote illustration. Once these are complete, I will share some photos to our "Work Gallery" page! Students also began thinking about what their hopes and dreams are for third grade!

Math: We began thinking about things that come in groups. Some ideas that students shared include: The 3 Little Pigs (group of 3), legs on a desk (group of 4), and days in a week (group of 7). This week, we will begin thinking about how we can consider things that come in groups when multiplying numbers.

Books We've Read: We have already read so many books together! To follow along on our book reading journey, check out our "Books We've Read" bulletin at the start of each week! This will be available on the "Assignments" homepage.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns! Have a wonderful week!
