Week 14: 12/21-12/23

Hi everyone,

Only 3 more days until break! We're in the home stretch! Here are some things to keep in mind this week!

This Week's Zoom Schedule: It is important to note that everyone will be learning remotely this week and should expect to be logged into Zoom from 8:15-2:30 Monday and Tuesday, and until 11:30 on Wednesday. On Wednesday, students will continue to work asynchronously after lunch until 1 pm. I recognize that this is a long stretch of time to be learning online, so I have scheduled many screen breaks and opportunities for asynchronous work time so students can get away from their screens.

This Week's Remote Work: Last week, students took home the following materials that we will use during this week's Zoom sessions:

  • Build a Snowman Clock (Monday Zoom)

  • Science (Tuesday and Wednesday Zoom)

  • Personal Narrative Draft (Monday and Tuesday Zoom)

  • Hot Chocolate Stand Trifold (Tuesday Zoom)

  • December Fun Packet (Wednesday Zoom)

  • Calendar Directed Drawings (Monday and Wednesday Zoom)

Any work completed this week (except the calendar) should be returned to school in the New Year.

Parent Teacher Conference Sign Up: Here is the link to the Sign Up Genius if you have not already signed up for a Parent Teacher Conference. Please note that each child should only be signed up for one conference!

We had a fun week in school last week! Here's a peek into what we did:

Math: We began a new unit all about addition and subtraction. Students learned how to play a new game called, Capture 5. Here's the link to play at home!

Writing: Students started editing their rough draft small moment stories. This week, we will begin publishing!

Social Studies: We learned about different types of natural landforms and resources in New England and students mapped them!

Grinch Day!: We ended our last in person week of 2020 with Grinch Day! We spent the day analyzing Mr. Grinch's character, working on STEM activities and art projects, and we finished the day by playing "Pin the Heart on the Grinch". We had so much fun!

That's all for now, have a great day!

Ms. McLellan
