February is the month of LOVE ❤
It's National Heart Month, so let's spread some love and kindness throughout our community!! We love being invited into your classrooms to see all the great things you are doing with your students so my challenge to you is to invite someone from our HPED Leadership Team out to your classroom so they can feel the love from you!

Andy Whittier, a US SkeletonTeam member, sent this video to our very own Keith Tremel to share first hand insights into what a skeleton track looks like for competitors. While he did not make the Olympic roster, he is on the World Cup team and gets to travel the world to race.

Marina Thompson (Southern MS) - 🎉 Shout-Out to Marina Thompson! 🎉
A huge round of applause for Marina Thompson, the phenomenal dance teacher at Southern MS and an inspiring leader for our Health, PE, and Dance Department! Marina recently hosted the Southern Dance Cluster event—even after a weather-related reschedule—and it was an incredible success. For the first time ever, all feeder elementary schools have dance programs and participated, and they’ll be joining us again for our district dance festivals this year. This milestone is a direct result of Marina’s vision, dedication, and tireless commitment to building a strong, sustainable dance community. The event showcased outstanding performances from her middle school dance company students as well as the Southern High School dance company. Their talent and artistry reflect the years of hard work Marina has poured into creating meaningful, high-quality dance education experiences for students across all levels. This achievement is more than an event—it’s a testament to the foundation Marina has built over many years. She is shaping not just dancers, but a community that deeply understands and values the importance of dance education.

Social Media Shares and Reminders:
The Office of Communications has also asked everyone to not take pictures of students we know do not have permission to publicly post. You should not blur or place emojis over students' faces when we are not sure if they have permission. Unless you know for sure that a student’s family has given permission- do not post photos/videos. Front office staff at your school, most likely the principal’s secretary, can print a report for you of students who do not have permission to be posted on social media.
