It's hard to believe we are a quarter of the way through the 2022-2023 school year. As the season changes and we quickly move from fall to winter, please remember to take care of yourself and your teammates. While this school has been more normal than the past two years, we still face struggles in the workplace. Please remember to always put your health first and that we will do whatever we can to support you. Do not hesitate to reach out and we will do what we can to lend a helping hand!
This month's edition of the HPED Newsletter is packed with content and substance. Please take your time to read through each area and let us know if you have any questions or there is other information you'd like us to include each month.
Happy November!

Grading Regulation Reminders
An assessment refers to a wide variety of methods or tools used to evaluate, measure, and document the academic readiness, learning progress, skill acquisition, or educational needs of students. Grades or codes are given to students to document progress toward mastery of skills, concepts, and standards.
As you prepare to finalize your grades for the 1st marking quarter please remember the purpose of an assessment it's corresponding grade. Assessments and grades should not be based on dressing requirements, fitness ability or undefined measures of effort, participation or attitude.
Elementary Cultural Arts courses shall keep a record of at least three assessments during a marking period.
Middle school courses shall have a minimum of seven separate evaluations or assessments of course content, skills, and standards mastery in addition to homework each quarter. However, such separate evaluations or assessments of course content may not exceed 12 total assignments.
High school courses shall have a minimum of nine separate assignments or assessments, an average of one grade per week, for course content, skills, and mastery in addition to homework but they may not exceed 15 total assignments.
November is Native American Heritage month which is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people. Heritage Month is also an opportune time to educate the general public about tribes, to raise a general awareness about the unique challenges Native people have faced both historically and in the present, and the ways in which tribal citizens have worked to conquer these challenges.
Kyle Harmon, of Meade High School, shared some valuable resources to bring awarness to the Native Culture.
Please consider reviewing the compiled resources and sharing with your students.
