February is the month of LOVE ❤
As we step into February, which is also National Heart Month, let's continue to inspire our students as we make a lasting impact on their physical and mental well-being.
Let's SPREAD the love!
Take a video of you, your team or your students telling us what you love ❤ about Health, Physical Education and/or Dance and place it in this folder for a chance to win a $250 gift card to use with one of our approved vendors. Videos will be shared on our AACPSHPED Instagram so please make sure students have appropriate permissions.
Check out this compiled List of Black History Month Resources if you would like to incorporate into your lessons this month. Please be sure to preview before showing to students.
Check out our new AACPS Swag Store with our new logo! HPED has an online store open all year round with shirts, jackets, hats, backpacks, and more! Delivery or free pick up in Annapolis available.
Happy Shopping!
Higher Institutions of Education Partner Updates
It is important to recognize the many wonderful things that are taking place in AACPS HPED every single day.
Please take a moment to nominate an amazing colleague to be featured in our "Shout Out" section each month!
This month's AACPS HPED "Shout Outs" go to...
Linsey Voorhese (North County HS) - This teacher has established a remarkable rapport with the staff and the students during her first year of teaching. Her ability to deliver meaningful and engaging lessons in the health and physical education classrooms has made an impression on the students that she teaches each and every day. Linsey comes to school each morning with energy and eagerness. We're very fortunate to have Linsey on the staff at North County High School - Shawn Behegan (North County HS)
Colin Saylor (Old Mill Middle North) - For always lending a hand to help out in the department. In addition to taking to the community and getting an awesome piece of equipment donated for our program so our students with physical disabilities can participate authentically in class with their peers. Adam Bellarin (Old Mill Middle North)
The following equipment is looking for a new home, If you wish to claim any of the items listed below, please contact Nick Klug (nklug@aacps.org). First come, first served, based on the timestamp on reply. Thanks!
CHECK BACK NEXT MONTH!
AACPS HPED now has an Instagram page and we would love to highlight the amazing work you do with your students. Please consider sending a video or photo with caption to Haydee Traver (htraver@aacps.org) so that we can highlight the great work you do every day!
Social Media Shares and Reminders:
The Office of Communications has also asked everyone to not take pictures of students we know do not have permission to publicly post. You should not blur or place emojis over students' faces when we are not sure if they have permission. Unless you know for sure that a student’s family has given permission- do not post photos/videos. Front office staff at your school, most likely the principal’s secretary, can print a report for you of students who do not have permission to be posted on social media.
This year’s hashtags are #AACPSFamily & #BelongGrowSucceed.
