Don't forget about Brightspace Office Hours
Daytime- Monday-Friday 12-2:00pm
Evenings-Sunday-Thursday 6:00-8:00 pm
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to OIT staff via BrightspaceSupport@aacps.org should you have any questions or concerns. Don’t forget there are daily Brightspace virtual office hours M-F, 12-2pm.
Finally, as the cold weather returns and the potential for snow/ice increases in the months of January and February, please take your laptops home daily in case we need to move to virtual instruction due to inclement weather.
The Voluntary Transfer Process
It's that time of year where we see vacancies and program growth opportunities.
As a professional courtesy, please reach out if you are considering/interested in a change or there is discussion of program growth.
If you choose to participate in the voluntary transfer process, please be sure to visit HR navigator to apply for open positions. You should begin to regularly check the portal in March. Don’t rely on the notifications you set to alert you to vacancies that you might be interested in pursuing – I’ve been told they are not reliable.
March 1- Voluntary Transfer process begins
April 15- Resignation deadline for Unit I 10-month employees in order to retain benefits through August
May 1- Non-tenured resignation deadline
July 1- Tenured resignation deadline
July 31- Voluntary Transfer process ends
If you are non-tenured and wish to be able to explore other transfer opportunities in AACPS, you must get permission from HR to do so. Here is the form to complete: Request to Participate in Voluntary Transfer Process (Unit 1 Non-Tenured Employee).pdf
Upcoming Professional Development Offerings
Date: Wednesday, March 8, 2023
Time: 7:00 - 8:30 PM EST
There are few topics in the world of physical education that are as taboo as assessment. Through my work, I’ve come to realize that assessment is a huge source of stress for many physical educators. In many cases, the cause of the stress seems to come back to the fact that few teachers have received the formal training or professional development they need to make sense of what is to be assessed, why assessment matters, and how to bake assessment into one’s lessons. This session was designed to help physical educators broaden their understanding of assessment and the role it plays in student learning. Together, we’ll explore different assessment tools & strategies that pair with a variety of outcomes. We’ll also perform a lesson walkthrough in which you’ll get to see how assessment can add value to the students’ experiences. For more information about this event, click here.

It is important to recognize the many wonderful things that are taking place in AACPS HPED every single day.
Please take a moment to nominate an amazing colleague to be featured in our "Shout Out" section each month!
This month's AACPS HPED "Shout Outs" go to...
Pete Ludlam - I wanted to take a moment to let you know what an awesome leader Mr.Ludlam is. He is incredibly supportive of the OMMS dance program and of our whole HPED team. He jumped in today to help me with a challenging DFA class (giving up some of his planning time), he is joining myself and Dance Company as a chaperone for one of our upcoming Dance Festival performances, and he is ALWAYS willing to lend a helping hand whenever possible. It's truly a pleasure to work with him. I'm sure you all know this already, but I just wanted to share some examples! ~ Gabbi Stoler
