Higher Institutions of Education Partner Updates
It is important to recognize the many wonderful things that are taking place in AACPS HPED every single day.
Please take a moment to nominate an amazing colleague to be featured in our "Shout Out" section each month!
This month's AACPS HPED "Shout Outs" go to...
Linsey Voorhese (North County High) - Linsey was hired very late. Her first day was when the students had already arrived. This did not phase her. She has tackled the teaching profession with a confidence and "Can Do" attitude. We are super excited to have her as part of our team! (Dominic Costentio)
Neal Chakrabarti (Mary Moss @ J. Alberts Academy) - Neal has been adapting and creating new ways to teach new information to his students after his department purchased new instruments and equipment for his music classes. He goes the extra mile outside of school as well to research techniques, further his education, and make enjoyable learning experiences for his students. (Sean Shields)
Pam Cole (Old Mill Middle North) - Ms. Cole continually advocating for her department members and always there to fill the gaps that are unplanned and arise throughout the unpredictable school day. She always brings her veteran perspective with best interest of the department and plays a critical role for the departments success. (Adam Bellarin)
Amanda Weisgerber (Annapolis High) - A huge thank you to Amanda Weisgerber for her outstanding work on the Professional Development presentations for Physical Education at our County Wide PD. Her dedication, creativity, and expertise have truly shone through, making all 3 presentations engaging and informative. Her efforts helped so many teachers in our county and we are incredibly grateful for her hard work and commitment. Amanda is a great colleague to work with in any HPED setting. Keep up the awesomeness! (Jenn Sweeney)
Hailey Beswick & Sean Shields (Meade High) - Your positive energy and enthusiasm is contagious! We are so happy to have you join the MHS HPED Department. (Lisa Campbell)
Brooklyn Park HPED Team - For stepping up and teaching Dance 6 and Dance for Athletes 6 & 7 this year! Your flexibility and adaptability is impressive and appreciated ! Great work! (Tony Jackson)
Amanda Coursey (Arundel High) - Amanda has been a rock through the start of the new school year! She has created documents to share throughout the department and the school for others to utilize. Amanda has also been a great listener to students and teachers. Thanks for always being there!! (Jenny Madden)
Sean Shields (Meade High) - Sean is a first-year teacher who is doing an incredible job adjusting to his new climate and facing the challenges that come with the first year. As a long-time friend, I am endlessly proud of him and all he has accomplished. (Neal Chakrabarti)
Carrie Deaver (Pasadena ES) - Wanted to post a shout out to Carrie who has been so welcoming and kind as I now get to teach with her one day a week! She is super organized, flexible and supportive! I am learning a lot of new tricks and ideas from her teaching methods. In addition, I was nervous to teach dance last year because it isn't something I had done, and she has teaching me how to effectively teach the unit so I can bring it back to my home school. I look forward every Thursday to teaching with Carrie! Thanks Carrie! You are awesome! (Jenn Winterling)

AACPS HPED now has an Instagram page and we would love to highlight the amazing work you do with your students. Please consider sending a video or photo with caption to Haydee Traver (htraver@aacps.org) so that we can highlight the great work you do every day!
Social Media Shares and Reminders:
The Office of Communications has also asked everyone to not take pictures of students we know do not have permission to publicly post. You should not blur or place emojis over students' faces when we are not sure if they have permission. Unless you know for sure that a student’s family has given permission- do not post photos/videos. Front office staff at your school, most likely the principal’s secretary, can print a report for you of students who do not have permission to be posted on social media.
This year’s hashtags are #AACPSFamily & #BelongGrowSucceed.
