Realize a New Year is only a new beginning if we dare to begin anew. Let us amass the courage in 2022 to do what’s right — not just what’s comfortable — even if it’s in the face of fear. We have an obligation to actively show up every day for ourselves and those we lead with purpose and intention, even on days we do not feel our best.
The past is gone, and the future is yet to come, so wherever we are right now on our journey is the starting point to begin and build. As we continue to welcome the New Year with grace and gratitude, let’s cultivate the courage each day to step into the fire of self-discovery and self-leadership.

There have been many questions about where to put Google Meet links in Brightspace. There are many options including:
In the NavBar
In a widget
In an Announcement or Activity Feed post
Decide what works best for your students; OIT recommends that it's consistent across grade levels and/or the school.
What is most important is HOW you create the link. If the links will be used with students, then teachers should create a nicknamed link to ensure students can't enter before an AACPS staff member is present. To ensure it's unique, include your AACPS username in the nickname. "Period3" is not unique and you risk joining someone else's meeting!

It is important to recognize the many wonderful things that are taking place in AACPS HPED every single day.
Please take a moment to nominate an amazing colleague to be featured in our "Shout Out" section each month!
This month's AACPS HPED "Shout Outs" go to...
Shaela Davis of Meade Middle School - She ALWAYS goes above and beyond and has been so supportive of me my first year teaching ~ Bethany Sandusky
Sarah Degler of Arundel High School - Sarah always has a positive outlook. She is a team player and is always willing to volunteer herself to help in any situation. She has a wonderful rapport with her students and gets the biggest smile on her face when she speaks of them. Her students love her class; she is fun and creative while upholding high expectations, challenging her students to give a little more and try something new. Her enthusiasm makes me want to take a dance class (bah haha) or walk outside in the cold! I am grateful to work alongside her. Sarah brings us joy and energy - making me strive to bring the same to my class. ~ Kristin Bowser
Sheronne Vails of Old Mill Middle South - Ms. Vails is an amazing health teacher and coworker. She is always prepared with engaging lessons, is super positive, and never without a smile. The kids love her and are always disappointed when the marking period ends. ~ Lori Darnall
Darren Gross of Brooklyn Park Middle School - Mr. Gross is a dedicated teacher and an awesome team member. He believes in all kids and holds them to high standards of success. He is always super organized and super positive even when things get tough. He cares about his teammates and his students and shows it every day! ~ Lauren Brutvan
