March typically brings warmer weather and sunnier skies (although in Maryland sometimes it's bring snow too). It also means we are almost two thirds of the way through the school year! This year has been far from normal but it's starting to feel like we're getting closer to what things were like before the pandemic (two years ago). I know that sometimes it's feels as if we take two steps forward and one step back but I believe we are making forward progress. We are lucky 🍀to have each of you as we move forward and return to our new sense of normal.

It is important to recognize the many wonderful things that are taking place in AACPS HPED every single day.
Please take a moment to nominate an amazing colleague to be featured in our "Shout Out" section each month!
This month's AACPS HPED "Shout Outs" go to...
Katie Gardner - I want to give a shout out to Katie for just giving me all the help and support since I have started here at Marley at the end of September :) She is patient, she is very kind and always willing to help. She has made my transition here at Marley elementary seamless and I want to thank her and make sure she gets the recognition that she deserves as being a fantastic colleague! ~ Renee McFarland
Katie Gardner - Thank you for lending us supplies for glow bowling. Our kids (and staff) loved it!! ~Christine Kreger & Allison Bledsoe
The Entire Severna Park Middle School HPED Department - For their genuine support and considerable goodwill. You ROCK! ~ Nicole Beard
Austin Eagle - Austin comes in to work each and every day not only ready to be successful but also ready to assist with whatever may be needed. He works hard to make each and every one of his classes engaging and fun. His passion for teaching, and for his students, is communicated throughout the day, every day. Austin is driven and determined. I am very proud to have him as a part of our Wildcat Family. Keep up the Hard Work Coach Eagle! ~ Jenny Madden
Eric West - Eric goes above and beyond for his students everyday. ~ Keith Tremel
David Kellett - Dave goes above and beyond for his students in every lesson he teaches. He is phenomenal with students and does whatever it takes to make sure they are successful. Dave also does extracurricular clubs with his students EVERY month of the school year. Last, Dave has been the BEST teammate to work with on Monday's. I love learning from him and getting new teaching ideas every week. ~ Kaitlin Young

It's that time of year where we see vacancies and program growth opportunities.
As a professional courtesy, please do not hesitate to reach out if you are considering/interested in a change or there is discussion of program growth.
If you choose to participate in the voluntary transfer process, please be sure to visit HR navigator https://intranet.aacps.org/Dept/HR/Pages/InternalVacancies.aspx to view/apply for open positions. You should begin to regularly check the portal in March. Don’t rely on the notifications you set to alert you to vacancies that you might be interested in pursuing – I’ve been told they are not reliable.
March 1- Voluntary Transfer process begins
April 15- Resignation deadline for Unit I 10-month employees in order to retain benefits through August
May 1- Non-tenured resignation deadline
July 1- Tenured resignation deadline
July 31- Voluntary Transfer process ends
If you are non-tenured and wish to be able to explore other transfer opportunities in AACPS, you must get permission from HR to do so. Here is the form to complete: Request to Participate in Voluntary Transfer Process (Unit 1 Non-Tenured Employee).pdf
