Overview
The Bentley's general processing workflow is highlighted below:
The Lead Archivist for Collections Management will assign a processing project to a processor on the Processing Team's Trello board (internal link).
The processor will complete specific processing tasks and move the project through the Trello board's various lists.
Once the processor has completed these tasks and created the appropriate documentation, they will submit their work to the Lead Archivist for Collections Management for review.
The Lead Archivist for Collections Management will review and discuss this work with the processor, who will implement any changes that the lead archivist recommends (and then re-submit the documentation for approval).
The Lead Archivist for Collections Management will then ensure that the archival description meets both local conventions and national professional standards in terms of content and/or formatting.
The Lead Archivist for Collections Management will then officially approve the processor's work, notify the processor, and export the finding aid's EAD for publication as well as create or update a MARC record in the appropriate environment(s) like OCLC Connexion and/or the University of Michigan's Library Search (public link).
The processor will then wrap up the project by completing different post-processing collections management tasks.
