Getting Help
Processors will often work with different Curation team members to complete processing projects. If questions or concerns arise during processing, please contact one or more of the following Bentley Staff (public link):
The Lead Archivist for Collections Management supervises all processing and cataloging projects. They also assign processing projects, provide processing and collections management guidance, and approve all finding aids and MARC records before they are published.
The Archivist for Digital Curation facilitates the processing of digital material. They also transfer content off of removable media, offer relevant training to processors, assist processors working on digital or hybrid accessions, and deposit and make accessible digital material in Bentley's different repositories and access systems. Questions about digital audiovisual material should generally be directed to the Archivist for Digital Curation.
The Conservator consults with processors about materials potentially requiring physical conservation treatment. They also fix material that requires such treatment, including material suffering from mold and physical damage.
The Lead Archivist for Audiovisual Curation consults with processors about collections that contain physical audiovisual material.
If the processor has further questions, comments, or concerns about an accession, including the material's content and context, they should also consult the Johanna Meijer Magoon Principal Archivist and Lead Archivist for University Archives (i.e. the Bentley's field archivists), or the staff member who accessioned the material. These archivists often have direct access to creators, donors, and/or custodians of records and can typically provide additional in-depth information, verify information, or even connect the processor (as appropriate) with the original creator, donor, or custodian.
