Missing Archival Objects

There are occasions where staff discover that an instance of an archival object (e.g., a file, box, etc.) is missing. 

When this happens, Curation staff should take the following steps while Reference staff locate the material:

• Add a "General" note to the archival object(s) stating the object is missing as well as when it was discovered missing.

• Uncheck the 'Published' box in the Basic Information section of the archival object(s).

• Add a new revision statement to the resource record noting that the missing archival object(s) is unpublished.

• Notify the Lead Archivist for Collections Management so that the finding aid can be exported.
