Container Profiles
Associating a Container Profile with a Top Container (Manual)
To associate a container profile with a top container:
Navigate to the instances form of the accession or archival object record (public link) associated with the top container.
Click on the linked top container, and then "View". This will redirect the archivist to the record for that specific top container.
Select "Edit".
In the "Container Profile" field, either type a description of the container into the field to search for available container profiles or use the drop-down arrow to browse available profiles (public link).
After selecting the appropriate container profile, select "Save Top Container".
Using "Manage Top Containers" to Enter or Update Containers Profiles (Bulk)
It is not efficient to manually associate container profiles with top containers if more than 10 top containers need to be updated. In such cases, it is advised that the archivist use the "Manage Top Containers" feature to rapidly add or update top containers. To do this:
Click on the gear drop-down at the top of the page and select "Manage Top Containers" (public link).
Use the search or browse feature to locate the specific resource or accession with the top container(s) to be updated.
Once the top container(s) in that resource or accession have been located, select the top container(s) to be updated.
Click on "Bulk operations", followed by "Update Container Profiles".
Search or browse for, and then select, the appropriate container profile.
When finished, click "Update [n] records".
If planning on updating several top containers, make sure to de-select the containers that were just updated!
Creating New Container Profiles
The Lead Archivist for Imaging and Infrastructure is responsible for creating new container profiles. Consult with them if it is necessary to create a new container profile.
