Processing Tools
While it is beneficial to become familiar with Bentley's entire technological ecosystem (internal link), processors will primarily use the following tools in their daily work:
ArchivesSpace (internal link): The Bentley's primary information management system for accessions, resources (finding aids), and related descriptive information.
BEAL (internal link): A FileMaker Pro database that includes, among other information, location information for processed collections.
Curation Remote Server (internal link): A server that can be used for reviewing and processing digital material.
Deep Blue (public link): A DSpace instance where primarily non-audiovisual digital material can be accessed by researchers. Processing archivists create collections in Deep Blue to facilitate this access.
Google Docs, Google Sheets, Microsoft Office products, or related software: Word processing files and spreadsheets are used to draft processing documentation and ingest material into a Deep Blue collection or the Bentley Digital Media Library (internal link), which is a Kaltura instance for some kinds of audiovisual material.
Trello: A project management tool that is used, among other things, to track the status of different processing projects. Processors will most interact with the Curation Team's Processing Team board (internal link), Processing and Digitization Priorities board (internal link), and Team Information board (internal link).
Additionally, there is a processing space in the Curation team's Shared Team Drive (internal link) for processors working on collaborative processing projects.
