In Honors Reading, we are wrapping up our classical poetry unit for National Poetry Month with a Shel Silverstein poetry reader’s theater and a school wide poetry recitation. Our Poetry breaks today were a literary success!! The students and staff throughout Sonoran Sky thoroughly enjoyed taking a break and listening to some classical poetry! Kudos to 4th Grade Reading Honors!

Don’t forget on May 12th during Reading Honors class from 8:55-9:40, we will be presenting a Shel Silverstein Poetry Reader’s Theater production. There will be acting, poetry, and just a ton of live entertainment! Come one, come all!

Greek & Latin Roots- There will be a final exam on May 13th over the 70 roots we have learned. My goal was to get to 100 roots. We will fall about 30 short...I will give each student a list of the last 30 roots so they can practice those over the summer should they want to.

ILR-Book Project Q4- The Book Project for all grades for quarter 4 is the board game. All explanations and rubrics have been given and can be found on my website. All students need to have their book completed, an AR test taken, and their board game ready to present on 5/13!

In Honors Math, we took our test on multiplying, dividing, and cross canceling fractions. The next unit of study will be measurement, pre-algebra (order of operations) and geometry. The Dynamath magazine for May is required. We are completing it in class or individual pages will be assigned for homework.

Thank you for all the clorox wipes! I am set!

Honors for next year- I will be returning as the Gifted Specialist next year! Yay! Since the Spring testing scores have come out, I have received numerous phone calls and emails regarding gifted placement. All children who are currently in my program will stay in the program unless you are contacted by me through either a phone call or letter. I will be sending new flex contracts out for the next school year, but I do not anticipate any deletions to our program only additions. Basically, no news is good news! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Lastly, I want to take this opportunity to thank the 4th Grade Honors Community for the flowers, cards, gifts, chocolates, Cokes (YUM!), and snacks that I got this week. I feel so appreciated and loved! Thank you for all of that.
