1st Quarter is over! Can you believe it? Wow, how time flies when you're having fun! First quarter ends October 10th and parent teacher conferences will begin during the week of October 20th.
We are having a lot of fun in all subjects. In Science we are studying the scientific method. In Social Studies we continue to learn about geography and primary & secondary sources. In ELA, we are working on the writing process by writing a comparison essay. We are also learning about phrases in Grammar. In Math, we are continuing our learning of equations and expressions. Lastly in Reading, the students are loving The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin. We are using this book to learn about narrative structure, comprehension, inferencing, and the genre of mystery.
Of course, we can't forget PILOTS! We are finishing up our Responsibility Pillar of Character with our pet project. Last week, we had our first speaker who spoke on tobacco awareness and prevention. It was very informative!
Don't forget to support 6th Grade and Sonoran Sky with the Apex Fun Run Challenges! It's a good way to support our classroom with classroom materials and group book sets.
