News for 4th-6th Grades:

Math Quarterly Projects due 3/3

Honors Needs- I could use kleenex.

ILR-Less than one week before the Q3 Independent Literature Requirement is due! All students must have read a book in a new genre and in their new AR level as well as complete the written book summary and chosen project. The final project is due next Wednesday, March 1st.

4th Grade

In Reading, we wrapped up our mystery unit on Chasing Vermeer. I wanted to add one more literature study in this quarter. On Monday, we began reading a witty fantasy titled Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. This is such a clever book and will definitely spark some great socratic seminars.

In Math, we are almost done with FRACTIONS! This week we have learned how to a multiply fractions and mixed numbers as well as cross cancel. We will have a test on multiplication on Monday, 2/27. Next up is division of fractions which we will finish up before Spring Break.

5th Grade

In Reading, we are loving our mystery unit on Wright 3. We will be wrapping up our mystery unit before Spring Break! It’s been a great book to read and the students can’t wait to read the 3rd book with me next year!

In Math, we are learning about Functions and Inequalities! This week we learned how to solve inequalities and graph them.

The Quarter 3 Math Projects are due in less than one week. Students are creating integer cartoon strips. All information is on my website. The final projects are due next Wednesday, 3/3.

6th Grade

In Reading, we are loving our mystery unit on Calder Game. We will be wrapping up our mystery unit before Spring Break! It’s been a great book mystery!

Skills Books #5-7 for Quarter 3 will be graded and recorded with a due date of 3/3.

In Math, we wrapped up our study of Geometry. Our next unit that we will finish before Spring Break is on Probability.

NOTE: Per the syllabus, there are no more corrections to quizzes or tests for the remaining year. This is in an effort to prepare for the transition to middle school. This pertains to math and reading.
