School Council September 11^th Principal’s Report

· We are in our third week of school and in our second A-F cycle

· Open Houses for the Middle School (5-8) Thursday, September 12^th and Elementary (K-4) Wednesday, September 18^th

· The first two days prior to school starting were spent as PD days for staff focusing on the new evaluation instrument, goal setting, and school start-up

· We had our first fire drill last week – more to follow

· We have several new faces on staff: Heather Haines – Mathematics, Corey Brownell – RISE, Ashley Austin – PLUS, Jane Maguire – Special Education, Katie McEwen – Arts, Alissa Coates – Music, Pam Carpenter – 5^th Grade

· Presently we have an opening in Special Education Grades 6-8

· All of our local (site-based) and district committees will start to meet soon

· Cross-country started this week – Go runners!

· Stop by and view are finished art mosaic piece above the FSS main office – Mrs. Hershberger and the 8^th grade from last year completed the project at the end of the summer

· Substitute Orientation – training – September 19^th

· Kindergarten Screenings – September 19^th and 20^th

· Early Release – September 27^th

· The 7^th graders will leave for Sargent Center on October 8^th through 11^th

· Our first Golden Eagle Assembly will be October 4^th

· School Pictures will take place October 16^th

· PAC will have their first meeting of the year October 8^th

· The 4^th grade will go to Lowell (splitting over two days) on October 8^th and 10^th – Field Trip

· Fire Safety Assemblies (October)

· Worcester State students will conduct hearing and screening tests (October)

· Lion’s Club Eyemobile arrives in (October)
