School Council December 12th Principal’s Report

· Some staff are involved in a Biggest Loser Competition/Support System

· At Thanksgiving our school delivered 14 baskets to families in need

· FSS held a CPR course training 15 district staff

· A dental hygienist from the Nashoba Boards of Health is working with students in grades K, 2, and 4

· Next week we will have our Golden Eagle and Sawyer Stars assembly as part of our last day Sing-a-Long before the holiday break

· In addition to having Governor Dukakis here to speak with our middle school, Senator Brown was here last week to talk with the 8th graders

· Our students have been going on several field trips including: Hanover Theatre (6th), Museum of Science (4th), and the Worcester County Courthouse (8th)

· The staff will get together for their annual holiday party this Friday

· Community Reading Day was a big success including readers from the NRSD Super Bowl Champion Football Team – Congratulations to the team and Coach Tucker

· We gathered over 900 pounds of food before and during the student/faculty football game

· In the elementary grades 1-5 there has been three sessions of PLUS on F Days

· The play “Big Bad” was a huge success – congratulations to the students involved and Maryann Zayka

· The chorus and band concerts with take place this week and next to bring in the holiday vacation (season)

· The staff will participate in the first annual Cookie Buffet before school the day before the vacation break

· The new playground will break grounds this winter – The committee is still about $20,000.00 short of their goal

· The boys and girls FSS basketball teams had their first games of the season this week

· The Toys for Tots, Box Tops and pasta drive are still underway

· The third and fourth grade craft fair will take place next week

· Report Cards go home this Friday

· Looking Ahead: Student Council Dance in January, PAC Trivia in February, Rehearsal for the Spring play will start in the New Year, Snowshoe Club (weather permitting) this Winter, Geography Bee in January, Lip Sync in February, Spelling Challenge in January
