School Council October 9th Principal’s Report

 

·         The safety committee continues to meet – Lt. Farrell was invited to the last meeting to work with us on fire code language and procedures

·         The 7th Graders had a wonderful week at Sargent Center last week

·         The 1st Grade went apple picking

·         Worcester State students conducted the hearing screenings on our students – Grades K, 1, and 2

·         We have recommended a finalist to the Superintendent for our Special Educator opening

·         We have made site visits to Clinton Elementary and Middle Schools and their representatives are visiting our campus as well as part of networking and idea sharing

·         Kindergarten Screenings have been conducted and results have been shared with staff

·         The Fourth Grade will be going on their field trip at a later date due to the governmental shut down – rescheduled for November – Hopefully the government is back in business

·         We had our first ER day at the end of last month and the focus was the new evaluation system – Individual and Team goals were worked on by staff

·         Intramural flag football and basketball have started or are about to start

·         PAC Enrichment took place this week K-5 in the Emerson Wing

·         PLUS programming has started – We are very excited about working with kids in small groups, setting goals, and collecting data

·         Our first Golden Eagle assembly takes place this Friday

·         SOS – Signs and symptoms of depression and accessing help - Programming for the 8th Grade

·         Fire Safety – new videos and materials – Grades K, 1, 2, 3, 4 will be involved

·         School Pictures – October 16th

·         Lion’s Club Eyemobile working with Grades 4, 5, and 7

·         Middlesex DA office representative Melissa Marino – digital evidence investigator and cyber safety presentation – October 21st – open to the public

·         ER – professional development day – October 25th

·         Antibullying assembly for Grades 6, 7, and 8 – October 28th

·         Storybook Pumpkins with the Fourth Grade in the Emerson Gym

·         Spaghetti Supper upcoming in November – Staff are serving the parents
