Principal's Report January 8, 2014

· The staff held their holiday party on Friday, December 13th

· Report Cards were issued on Wednesday, December 18^th – They were pushed back slightly

· The Geography Bee was rescheduled until next Monday, January 13th

· The Safety Committee continues to meet every month to look at what we are doing and how we are doing it

· Preschool maternity leave interviews took place earlier this week – The process is on-going and Roxy Gragen’s last day will be January 24^th (We think)

· New PLUS groupings started today on F Day – PLUS Day

· The latest edition of the school newsletter will be available this week

· We had two snow days last week (Thursday and Friday)

· Sawyer Basketball started their games before the holiday break – Games continue this week with the first 4 of 5 on the road

· DI Teams are underway working at solving their team (group) problem

· Formative Assessments are being completed this month for Developing and Year One teachers by principals, assistant principals, and other administrative staff

· The current RETELL cohort finishes at the end of January – We are relieved

· PAC meets on Tuesday, January 14th

· The 2^nd of three Four Winds trainings for parent volunteers will take place on Wednesday, January 15^th (Winter workshop)

· Early Release professional development will take place on Friday, January 17^th

· No School on Monday, January 20^th – MLK Day

· Student Council will sponsor a movie and dance night for 6^th 7^th & 8^th graders – Note: 6^th (movie) 7^th and 8^th (dance) on Friday, January 24^th

· MARC presentations for middle school students will take place on Friday, January 31^st

· Golden Eagle Assemblies are scheduled for Friday, January 31^st – Note: This may be in conflict with the MARC presentations – TBD

· 8^th grade fundraiser: Middle School dance with a “Color Wars” theme will be held on Friday, February 7th

· Lip Sync will have their informational meeting on Tuesday, January 14^th, rehearsals starting on Wednesday, January 29^th, and the Lip Sync show on Saturday, March 1^st

· FSS Drama Show – Doctor Dolittle Jr. starts rehearsals for their upcoming April 11^th and 12^th shows
