May 2013 Principal's Report

School Council May 8th Principal’s Report (Not in chronological order)

· Spring Conferences have taken place (Grades 3-8 were student-led and student-involved conferences)

· MCAS Math and STE have started up this week – the testing window will end on May 20th

· PAC Enrichment will sponsor Captain Bowen (NASA astronaut) tomorrow

· Intramural basketball has started for both boys and girls

· We had a Golden Eagle Assembly last Friday (we have one more left this school year)

· The annual BBQ dance will take place this Friday – a large number of people (students and teachers) are involved in this event

· Our DI team held an event last Friday night to help raise funds and spotlight DI for the Global competition – the kids really enjoyed themselves

· The Early Childhood Fair was last Saturday at the Emerson Wing from 10:00-1:00 – it was very well attended by the community

· Softball and baseball have started playing games

· Many hiring committees are underway to fill vacancies on the staff – the goal is to have all of the new hires in place before the end of the school year

· The placement process has begun to set the new classes for 2013-2014

· The Superheroes tricycle race was a big success – an assembly acknowledging the spellers and fundraising winners was held followed by the race out in front of the school – Mrs. Cyr brought home the victory leaving the guys in her dust

· The volunteer appreciation committee continues to meet as we prepare to acknowledge all of our volunteers

· This week is Staff Appreciation Week – we feel very appreciated at our school

· The incoming Kindergarten Meet and Greet is coming up this month (May 23rd)

· PAC Enrichment will sponsor music and technology assemblies and allergy awareness assemblies this month

· The PK Night is scheduled for the end of the month (May 30th)

· The second half of the 4th grade went to the Lowell Historical Park last week

· The seventh grade will go to Overlook Farm in the beginning of June

· Chorus concerts will take place in the beginning of June – Mr. Ryan will be riding that last musical wave

· Kindergarten went to Mechanics Hall in Worcester two weeks ago on a field trip

· Jump Rope for Heart took place last week
