School Council December 11th Principal’s Report

· PLUS Update – The first 8 week cohort ended today – January will bring new groupings based on data, teacher input, and observations

· Report Cards will be issued K-5 (this Friday) and 6-8 (next Wednesday)

· PAC Bingo was a huge sold out success – Thank you to all the volunteers

· The Golden Eagles and Sing-A-Long will be next Friday before holiday break – All of our students will gather as one to sing and be merry – Note: Don Ryan is making a triumphant return

· The fourth grade piloted an Oovoo grade four CPT district teleconference as a possible model for the future – Thank you to Mary Fitch for the tech. support

· Mr. Grant has been on all 12 buses learning the routes, talking to the drivers, and observing the students on each bus – He enjoys the riding of the buses

· Interscholastic Basketball Tryouts for Boys and Girls started after Thanksgiving break – The first game is December 17th

· Casey Gomez is the long term substitute for Melissa Walsh’s maternity leave

· An astronaut educator worked with the K-4 students last week

· The kindergarten lottery is this Friday

· The third and fourth graders finally got the opportunity to go on their rescheduled field trips to Lowell

· DI teams have formed and started meeting with their coaches

· Budget season is underway – Teachers are submitting budgets by next week for administrative review

· The new playground (turf field and playground structure) are getting a workout

· The staff party for Florence Sawyer School is this Friday

· Chorus and Band concerts (during the day and night) started last week continuing into this week

· The safety committee continues to meet

· The Geography Bee will take place in January

· The next district Early Release Day is in January

· There will be a middle school dance and movie night in late January

· A Four Winds workshop for the parents (Winter session) will take place in January

· PK Open House will take place in January under the coordination of Cynthia Maxfield
