Research & Creative Activity

Highlighting Research & Creative Activity

The CLA PIO office is dedicated to highlighting our department's experiential learning opportunities and the groundbreaking research conducted by both students and faculty. By promoting these initiatives, we support UAF's mission to achieve R1 University status, emphasizing our commitment to excellence in research and education. Our efforts ensure that the innovative work within our department is recognized and celebrated, contributing to UAF's growing reputation as a leading research institution.

CLA Gems

CLA has a newsroom called "CLA Gems" to showcase the achievements, research, and exciting activities of our faculty, staff, and students. We use RSS tags to pull from this comprehensive archive and display relevant articles on department webpages, ensuring that our community's accomplishments receive the recognition they deserve. Gems are also often featured in the CLA eNewsletter as well as on social media. Anyone is welcome to submit a gem for feature by emailing the CLA PIO Office

Publication Database

The CLA Publication Database is a comprehensive collection of scholarly and creative works published by UAF CLA faculty, staff, alumni, and students. This database showcases the breadth of knowledge and achievements within our college, highlighting the diverse and impactful contributions of our community. All UAF CLA-affiliates are welcome (and encouraged!) to contribute to the database.

Student & Faculty Research and Creative Activity

Each UAF CLA department will have dedicated pages showcasing student and faculty research, highlighting innovative work and achievements. This initiative makes our groundbreaking research easily accessible, supporting UAF's commitment to academic excellence. Keep the CLA PIO Office informed so we can celebrate your achievements!

Fine Art Archive

The College of Liberal Arts' Fine Art Archive is a repository showcasing past MFA and BFA thesis exhibitions hosted by our art department. This collection offers a glimpse into the artistic exploration and innovation of our talented students under the guidance of their department committee, presenting a diverse array of artworks, narratives, and expressions that reflect the richness of our community's experiences and voices.

Alumni Stories

Each UAF CLA department will have an Alumni Stories page dedicated to showcasing testimonials and success stories from graduates. These pages aim to enhance the appeal of each program to prospective students by illustrating the real-world achievements and career trajectories of alumni, providing valuable insights into the opportunities and outcomes available within each department.

Research Resources

URSA

URSA (Undergraduate Research and Scholarly Activity) at UAF supports and promotes undergraduate research and creative projects across all disciplines. In addition to student awards, URSA offers several funding opportunities for faculty and staff, including Mentor Awards, Community Engaged Learning Awards, and Technology-Related Equipment Funding. These awards recognize and support faculty and staff efforts to enhance student learning and research experiences.

Experts Guide

UAF is a leader in Arctic research, offering expertise on a wide range of circumpolar North issues. Our scientists can provide current, accurate information to journalists, policymakers, students, and educators on topics such as permafrost, Alaska Native languages, fisheries, and northern engineering, helping to make your projects successful.

If you would like to be considered for addition to the Experts Guide, please reach out to the CLA PIO Office.
