Clarity

Clarity Magazine is the voice of CLA!

Created in 2009, Clarity focuses on the stories of CLA’s current students, faculty, and staff. These stories demonstrate the unity between the arts, humanities, languages, and social sciences taught at CLA while also illustrating the diversity of our college's members.

After a hiatus spanning several years, we are delighted to announce the revitalization of Clarity Magazine. We look forward to bringing you fresh perspectives and engaging content once again.

How articles are chosen

Articles for Clarity Magazine, the annual CLA publication, are carefully selected to encompass a wide range of CLA departments, aiming for relevance across various colleges at UAF and impact within the community or globally. The editorial process prioritizes pieces that offer broad appeal while showcasing the diverse expertise and contributions within the College of Liberal Arts.

UAF Publications

ICE BOX

Ice Box began as an annual zine published by graduate students in the Department of English. In 2001, Professor Cindy Hardy agreed to serve as faculty advisor, and Ice Box morphed into a more traditional literary journal. Back issues are available for viewing and purchase from the main English office in Gruening 850.

PERMAFROST

Permafrost is the national literary journal edited by MFA students in UAF's Department of English. It publishes twice per year: a winter print issue and a summer online issue. In addition to the journal, Permafrost also hosts an annual book prize in collaboration with the University of Alaska Press. Student editors will sometimes receive internship opportunities with the press as well.

UAF Resources

ScholarWorks@UA is a digital repository and publishing platform hosted by the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF). It serves as an online archive for scholarly and creative works produced by the UAF community, including faculty publications, student theses and dissertations, conference proceedings, and more. ScholarWorks@UA promotes open access to research and scholarship, making academic content freely available to a global audience.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks is a leader in Arctic research, addressing critical issues in the circumpolar North. Our experts offer current and accurate information to journalists, policymakers, students, and educators on a wide range of topics. From permafrost to Alaska Native languages, fisheries to northern engineering, we support projects across these fields and beyond.
