1. Outline of training
Most problem in shop management can be solved by training. Training is investment. If you do it effectively, you can increase productivity / cost effectiveness and increase profits. Attention is necessary because unplanned training will increase costs and lower profits.
For the training needs of stores, the following can be considered.
-New employee become substantial part of workforce in short-time
-well‐known of new procedures
-Skill up
-Store management problem solving
-Improve productivity by acquiring experience
-Improve morale
-Training Improvement
2. Training method
The two training of store employees methods are "OJT" and "Off-JT".
Combination of "understanding", "can actually do" and "can be done continuously" are meaning of understand/ master of the job
3. OJT(On The Job Training)
OJT is training done through field work and suitable for teaching skill to other people and skill of technology.
The method most is commonly used in new employee training in general.
In the important work of staff training, it is necessary for store employees to be aware of being in the position of trainers.
The training method OJT is mainly focusing on technology and attitude.
Therefore, the trainers are always required to act as good example of other employees.
Trainers must understand 100% of the work to train new employee.
The secret of whether training can be done is whether the store employee is
(1) familiar with each work
(2) instructions → practice→ review → guidance → whether the next instructions and flow are acquired or not.
It is impossible for the new employee to instruct to do work that trainer can not do on their own (never done).
First, understand all of the work, working together, and understanding the new employee's JD and the work he/she is doing.
This is the first step to smoothly advance training.
4. Off-JT(Off the Job Training)
Off-JT is group training and meetings with training focusing on mastery of understanding and understanding of knowledge at places away from stores.
There is also sometimes done at the store manager / assistant manager meeting.
In order to encourage knowledge understanding, problem solving skill development and creativity development, we will do it not only with lectures but also in combination with discussion, case presentation, research assignment presentation, report submission etc.
5. Training of store staff
The purpose of staff training is to give motivation to staff while improving operation skills.
It is not just about getting knowledge and skills to carry out tasks.
Doing staff training will create highly productive staff with motivation and abilities.
