Did you know that cypress trees have “knees”? The knees are knobby roots that grow above the surface of the ground. They grow as high as needed to be above the water line in the wet season. Scientists believe the knees help the trees breathe. The Cypress Knee Museum was one of the original Florida tourist attractions in the 1930s.
