The Cape Canaveral Lighthouse is very scenic! Patrick Air Force Base 45th Space Wing employees recently started escorting tours there twice per week. The lighthouse is on the grounds of the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, and has a unique location next to launch pads and space rockets. Originally the only entrance to the lighthouse was up a 3 story flight of stairs on the outside of the tower because of flooding. A ground-story door was added later for convenience. The lighthouse was built in 1868, stands 151 feet tall, and has a beam that still shines 22 miles out to sea. The original first-order Fresnel lens is currently on display at the Ponce de Leon Inlet Light Station (north of Cape Canaveral).
