This past weekend the San Francisco Zoo hosted a special event to celebrate their first flamingo chicks in 7 years! Pink baby bows decorated the grounds, a giant costumed "pink flamingo" greeted guests, and visitors were given discounts if they wore pink.

Flamingos only nest in large social groups. They build mud towers and lay one egg inside, which hatches in 30 days. The newly hatched chicks look like gray balls of fuzz - adorable!
