The Bristlecone Pine Forest is only open 4 months of the year because of snow and ice. It is worth the wait, though, for a chance to see these ancient trees. The weather at the high elevation where the trees grow is unpredictable. We went from clear blue skies to raging hailstorm within an hour! The dramatic picture below shows one of our favorite bristlecone pines after the ice storm storm ended.

The picture below shows hail and yellow aspen leaves after the storm ended at the Bristlecone Pine Forest. What a pretty scene!

The size of bristlecone pines is amazing. The gnarled tree below is at least 3,000 years old and still growing! It was a truly impressive sight!
