Beautiful flamingos are on display at the San Francisco Zoo. Flamingos (Latin for flame) are named for their brightly colored feathers. Their pink and red coloring comes from the shrimp that they eat. At the beginning of nesting season, flamingos perform a synchronized dance by walking back and forth in unison - what a delight!

A peregrine falcon is also on display at the zoo. Peregrine falcons are the world's fastest birds - they can dive at speeds up to 175 mph!
