We recently enjoyed a hike at Castle Rock State Park. The park’s gigantic sandstone boulders have fantastic tafoni shapes. Amazingly, the rocks started off as a sandy sea floor in Southern California over 30 million years ago. Geologic fault zones carried the sandstone north to its present location. This lush Pacific rainforest is very beautiful.
