The Only Begotten, Created, Holy, Fully Divine, Son of God

Ephesians 5:30

For we are members of His body.

Ephesians 5:25

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her

Matthew 6:26

Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns--and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

Ephesians 5:33

Nevertheless, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

1 Peter 3:7

Husbands, in the same way, treat your wives with consideration as a delicate vessel, and with honor as fellow heirs of the gracious gift of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.

Colossians 3:19

Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.

1 Thessalonians 4:4

each of you must know how to control his own body in holiness and honor,

1 Peter 3:1

Wives, in the same way, submit yourselves to your husbands, so that even if they refuse to believe the word, they will be won over without words by the behavior of their wives

In 1888, Brother Waggoner dealt with this problem. Perhaps there were some among the leadership who believed this, although it may have come from outside the church. There must have been enough agitation for him to include it in his Minneapolis sermons.

He said, "No one who holds this view can possibly have any just conception of the exalted position which Christ really occupies...The Scriptures declare that Christ is 'the only-begotten Son of God'. He is begotten, not created.

As to when He was begotten, it is not for us to inquire, nor could our minds grasp it if we were told... The point is that Christ is a begotten Son, and not a created subject. He has by inheritance a more excellent Name than the angels: He is 'a Son over His own house'." Christ and His Righteousness p27.29.

The question was asked by a reader of the Review & Herald in 1883.

Question: Will you please favour me with those Scriptures which plainly say that Christ is a created being?

Answer: You are mistaken in supposing that S. D. Adventists teach that Christ was ever created. They believe, on the contrary, that he was ‘begotten’ of the Father, and that he can properly be called God and worshiped as such. They believe, also, that the worlds, and everything which is, was created by Christ in conjunction with the Father. They believe, however, that somewhere in the eternal ages of the past there was a point at which Christ came into existence. They think that it is necessary that God should have antedated Christ in his being, in order that Christ could have been begotten of him, and sustain to him the relation of son. They hold to the distinct personality of the Father and Son, rejecting as absurd that feature of Trinitarianism which insists that God, and Christ, and the Holy Spirit are three persons, and yet but one person. S. D. Adventists hold that God and Christ are one in the sense that Christ prayed that his disciples might be one; i.e., one in spirit, purpose, and labor." Review & Herald. Vol 60. No.16. p250. Creation is coming into being, or coming into existence, of what didn't exist before!

Being begotten and born is being begotten and born into existence. What's the

difference? I would say that being begotten and born is the highest form of the

act of creation. Being begotten and born is the genius of the Creator in causing

something to be! I would agree with Waggoner in the way Christ came into being!

He came into being of the very essence and substance of the Father, being born

into existence! No other being in all of the universe was created in this way. In

this way, Christ has pre-eminence over every other being or thing in existence! He

was made, created, generated, born, or brought into existence by the uncreated ONE, -

JEHOVAH, the eternal FATHER, from HIMSELF ! Jesus is verily God, of or from, the

Only true GOD, the Self-existent, unchangeable ONE, SOURCE & SUSTAINER of all !!!

After Adam was created from dust, Eve was created from a rib of Adam. So, in essence, both were "created" or made from the dust of the earth. Formed by the Son of God's hands himself, after the body was formed, the Son of God breathed into Adam the "breath of life" and man, body plus breath, became a living soul, or living character to be shaped further by his daily choices. Did his daily little choices conform to the living word of God or Satan?

Christ was twice born, just as we must be "twice born" - He is our example in everything - only for us it goes in opposites: we were first born of the flesh to be second born of the Spirit, Christ was first born of the Spirit and then born of the flesh: He was forever FUSED with humanity at His conception into Mary as we are to be forever fused with Divinity at our conception (James 1:18) by the truth and we are to bear, give birth to spiritual children of the truth after spending time with our husband, Christ in the Bridal Chamber of truth - in the Most Holy Place in the Heavenly Sanctuary by claiming the exceedingly great and precious promises per 2 Peter 1:4 "Whereby are given [possessed] unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust."

We come to petition the God and Father of Jesus Christ at His footstool - which is the earth - by faith following Christ into the Most Holy Place in the Heavenly Sanctuary in the Third Heaven and presenting His own words back to Him, tracing our fingers over the exceedingly great and precious promises God has given us in the Word of God. All He asks for is for us to come to Christ, come to Him seeking His will, His daily choices to be done in our body...we are to be mediums, channels, a host or vessel for the Spirit of Christ to live in - to fill us - to fill the vacuum - the place where Satan reigned in our hearts - our daily choices - that broke the commandments of God and to let Jesus come in and fill us with His presence, His SUPERNATURAL POWER, which is His thoughts and feelings - the Ten Commandments - to MAKE us Holy, perfect... commandment keepers who delight to obey every single precept and word... we are to be the thoughts of Jesus made audible to the world in our every thought, word and deed. We are to be the body of Christ. (Psalms 132:16) We are to praise and worship the GROUND (dust) our husband {Jesus = our earthly husband, our earthly families should be a little heaven on earth example} walks on! The body the Spirit of Christ fills per Romans 8:9:

Begotten means created! Why? Because all things created are not begotten; whereas all things begotten are created! I think you can see the point of difference here.

God and His Son

Adam and Eve

Eve was made from a rib/half of Adam, "And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man" Genesis 2:23.

Ephesians 5:28

In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

Ephesians 5:29

Indeed, no one ever hated his own body, but he nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church.

Genesis 29:14

Laban said to him, "Surely you are my bone and my flesh." And he stayed with him a month.

    • "As Christ was twice born, once in eternity, the only begotten of the Father, and again here in the flesh, thus uniting the divine with the human in that second birth, so we, who have been born once already in the flesh, are to have the second birth, being born again of the Spirit, in order that our experience may be the same, the human and the divine being joined in a life union" W. W. PRESCOTT, The Advent Review and Sabbath Herald, vol. 73 April 14, 1896, page 232 par. 2.

    • "He was born of the Holy Ghost. In other words, Jesus Christ was born again. He came from heaven, GOD's first- born, to the earth, and was born again, But all in Christ's work goes by opposites for us: he, the sinless one, was made to be sin, in order that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. He, the living one, the prince and author of life, died that we might live. He whose goings forth have been from the days of eternity, the first-born of GOD, was born again, in order that we might be born again" The Advent Review and Sabbath Herald, vol. 76 August 1, 1899, page 487 par. 2.

    • "If Jesus Christ had never been born again, could you and I have ever been born again? No. But he was born again, from the world of righteousness into the world of sin; that we might be born again, from the world of sin into the world of righteousness. He was born again, and was made partaker of the human nature, that we might be born again, and so made partakers of the divine nature. He was born again, unto earth, unto sin, and unto man, that we might be born again unto heaven, unto righteousness, and unto God" The Advent Review and Sabbath Herald, vol. 76 August 1, 1899, page 487 par. 3.

The Advent Review, and Sabbath Herald, vol. 7 March 20, 1856, page 194 par. 1:

We are taught that if we suffer with Christ we shall also reign with him; and Jesus promises a seat on his throne to the overcomers. Then if we reign as kings with Christ, sitting upon his throne, is it too much to believe that Christ reigns as a King with the Father, while sitting on the Father’s throne? It may be contrary to our ideas of Christ’s position during the present dispensation, but if our ideas conflict with such plain teachings of Scripture, let them be discarded at once. The Word says he shall rule and be a priest on the throne of the LORD; and as the counsel of peace is “between them both” during his priestly rule, therefore he is at once “King of Peace and Priest of the Most High God.” When I read the words of the risen Saviour to his disciples, that all power in heaven and earth is given to him; [Matthew 28:18;] that men should honor the Son even as they honor the Father; [John 5:23;] and learn that the Father hath highly exalted him, even to a seat on his own universal throne. My soul rejoices at the thought that “we have such a High Priest” to make intercession for us. Surely they that put their trust in such a Savior shall not be ashamed.

It is greatly to be feared that we have not considered the Apostle and High Priest of our profession,” in all respects, in the light in which he is presented in the Word. It is necessary that we recognize his exalted position, in order that we give him that honor which the Father requires we should bestow upon the Son while in the joint occupancy of the throne of universal dominion.

Another point claims our attention, which is this: As Christ is a royal priest, or king and priest at once, these offices being united in Melchisedec, it is necessary, to fulfill the type of Melchisedec, that there be no genealogical reckoning in regard to either his priesthood or kingship. We should search in vain to find who was king before Melchisedec, or who succeeded him, or from whom he, as king descended. What is applicable to him as priest, is true of him also as king. And so it is with Christ in regard to that kingship which is united with his priesthood. He is exalted to the throne of God, not by right of descent, but to fulfill his priestly work there, in which descent was not reckoned. And as he is the “one mediator,” having neither predecessor nor successor in that office, so he is the only one that ever will enjoy the high privilege of sharing the power and honors of the throne of the Most High. This fact alone would render it certain that Christ’s kingly priesthood is not upon his own throne, or on the throne of Israel, for when he takes that throne it is as the Son of David; and it is as necessary that his genealogy be traced to David in order for him to occupy that throne, as it was for the sons of Aaron to prove their descent from Levi, or from Aaron, in order to be permitted to minister in the sanctuary on earth. The objection urged on the priesthood of Christ, is clearly invalid. A correct understanding of his priestly work confirms the view that every case is decided at, or before, his coming, and that his saints will be redeemed, and his enemies, including all the unredeemed, will be “dashed in pieces” at that time. (To be Continued.)

“YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN.” John 3:7

(Concluded.)

WE pass to show

WHEN THIS BIRTH TAKES PLACE

II. When does this change take place? I answer, At the second advent of Christ. For as He was born at his resurrection who is the HEAD, so also will his disciples at their resurrection, who are the MEMBERS of that same body of which he is the head. 1 Corinthians 15:23. “Christ the first-fruits; afterwards they that are Christ’s.” When? “At his coming.” Again, [verse 50-53,] “Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither does corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I show you a mystery: we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye.” When? “At the LAST TRUMP: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.” Isaiah 66:14. After speaking of the birth or resurrection of Zion’s children, and their being comforted in Jerusalem, he adds, “When ye see it, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb; and the band of the Lord shall be known toward his servants and his indignation toward his enemies. For, behold, the Lord will come with fire and his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.” Read also chapters 25:8, 9; 26:19-21, and compare with 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10. From which scripture we learn it is at the last trump. When the Lord himself descends from heaven in flaming fire to take vengeance on the wicked, and with the voice of the archangel and the trump of God. Then shall we be born of the Spirit, and come forth into a new and eternal life. When God shall be glorified in all his saints! How glorified in them? By their birth when they receive immortal and glorified bodies like unto Jesus’ glorious body. Every one reflecting the image and glory of Christ. Thus we see the birth of the Spirit, which is the resurrection, is at the coming of our God from heaven, instead of at conversion and a point in the past. And this is the only birth that will ensure us an entrance into the kingdom. As Paul teaches, [1 Corinthians 15:14,] ‘And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.” Verses 17, 18. “And if Christ be not raised your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are PERISHED.” Again, [verse 32,] “If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantageth it me, if the dead rise not? let us eat and drink: for to-morrow we die.”

We see from this that conversion cannot be the second birth, neither can it insure us an entrance into the kingdom. For, although we may have faith, and suffer for Christ here, and die in its triumphs and sleep in Jesus; yet all is vain without a resurrection. With what power then comes thundering home the declaration, “Ye must be born again;” even by the Spirit of the eternal God that raised Jesus from the dead, or ye can in no wise see or enter the kingdom of God. And it gives new force to such passages as Philippians 3:11, “If by any means I might attain unto a (ex anastasis) resurrection out from among the dead.” And also, Romans 2:6, 7, “God will render to every man according to his deeds: to them who by patient continuance in well doing, seek for glory and honor and immortality: eternal life.” “For [Revelation 20:6,] blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.” And how this truth harmonizes, and lights up with new rays of glory the word of God. See 1 John 3:9. “Whosoever is born of God, doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him and he CANNOT sin, because he is born of God.”

Now, although we may allow that men may live here, and sometimes do by the assistance of God’s grace without sin for a season, yet are any prepared to take the ground that the best men that ever lived attained a state here that rendered it impossible for them to sin? I presume not. Then are they not born of God. But if any doubt lingers in your mind, this same writer settles it. Chap 2:1. “Little children, these things I write unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father.” Here John supposes we may sin after conversion. And provision he assures us is made for such. But in the other place he assures us that if born again we CANNOT sin. I am aware many efforts have been made to pervert this passage by modifying its meaning to suit our theories. But there it stands a positive declaration, and eternal refutation of all such theories. They cannot sin because they are born of God. Then conversion we see clearly is not the new birth.

We will here notice an objection that may arise in the minds of some, in 1 John 5:1. “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ, is born (begotten) of God: and every one that loveth him that begat, loveth him also that is begotten of him.” We are to remember that this translation was made in view of the position that conversion is the new birth. Now in this sense the words born, begat, and begotten, are all from one and the same verb in the original - Gennao - the first definition of which is, to beget, generate, and the word here rendered born should be rendered begotten. This is evident, 1st, from the whole tenor of his epistle; 2nd, from what follows in the same verse, “he that loveth him that begat, loveth him also that is begotten of him;” 3rd. but still more so from his own explanation in the 18th verse of this same chapter, where he distinguishes between being born and begotten. “We KNOW that whosoever is BORN of God sinneth not.” How do you know? In chap 3:9, he tells you, “his seed remaineth inhim, he cannot sin because he is born of God.” “But he that is BEGOTTEN of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.” Says Paul in 1 Corinthians 9:27; “but I keep my body under, etc., “lest I myself become a castaway.” By which teaching I understand that when we are born of God we are in a state rendering it impossible for us to sin. But when begotten of God we keep ourselves by the use of those means God has appointed for our salvation. Or in other words, by conversion; we are begotten of God by the truth when we receive the spirit of adoption, which is the first-fruits of the Spirit and pledge of our adoption. But we are not born until the resurrection; which is the order of nature and accords with the teachings of the sure word of prophecy, as we will endeavor now to show. James 1:18. “Of his own will BEGAT he us with the word of truth.” The word here rendered begat is Apouka. 1 Corinthians 4:15. “For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet there are not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have BEGOTTEN you through the Gospel.” See also Philm.10. “I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds.” Romans 8:15-23. “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear: but ye have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry Abba, Father.” Here mark, we have not received the adoption, but the SPIRIT of adoption; and in the 23rd verse he tells us when we receive the adoption, for “ourselves also which have the FIRST FRUITS of the SPIRIT, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for (for what?) the adoption; (what is the adoption, Paul?) to wit, the redemption of our body.” From these passages and many others we might quote, we perceive that through the truth we are begotten sons of God but not yet born. But having the spirit of Christ, which is the earnest, the first-fruits and pledge of our adoption, we wait, groaning for the adoption; to wit, the redemption of our body in the resurrection morn, when we shall be born (born free) of the free woman; [Galatians 4;] born into the kingdom unto eternal life. Glory to God! Whom the Son maketh free is free indeed. “For as soon as Zion travailed she brought forth her children.” Unto which we are sealed (made sure) by the spirit of adoption. For, says God in the next verse, [Isaiah 66:9,] (and I will quote the verse with the marginal readings, and I wish you to notice its power and glory and assurance of hope unto the end,) “Shall I bring to the birth, and not BEGET to bring forth? saith the Lord: shall I beget to bring forth and shut the womb? saith thy God.” No! is the implied answer. Having of my own will begotten you through the truth, [James 1:18, etc.,] I will not shut the womb. No. “I will open your graves and ye shall come forth out of your graves and I will put my spirit in you and ye shall live.” Ezekiel 37:14. “Awake and sing ye that dwell in dust, for your dew is as the dew of herbs, for the earth shall cast out her dead.” Isaiah 26:19. “For her children shall break forth on the right hand and left.” Isaiah 54:3. So here, [Isaiah 66,] after representing them as already begotten for the express purpose of bringing forth and assuring us that he will not shut the womb. He represents the children as nursing, [verses 10, 11,] “Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her; that ye may suck and be satisfied with the breasts [two charts - the 1843 and the 1850 charts - the two paps, the two breasts that feed and nourish the children of God in these last days!!!] of her consolations; that ye may milk out and be delighted with the brightness of her glory [7th day Sabbath and the OLD SDA LANDMARKS].” And the reason follows, for [because, verse 12] “Thus saith the Lord, behold I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the... • "There is only one path to Paradise restored,--the path of obedience" ST, January 25, 1910 par. 18.

Brother Wilbur, Can you give me a few examples of being "begotten" and "created" that show the difference between the two ideas?

I believe, and I think I can prove from the scriptures that Jesus was spoken forth. Jesus is wisdom and wisdom was spoken forth.

"And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live" Deut 30:6.

Something interesting to note is the word "heart". Heart also means BOSOM! Heart means our daily desires we delight in, our daily little choices - especially our words we speak and the food we daily imbibe determines our eternal destiny.

When we read through the Bible we find that the evidence of God's love for us is actually tied to the fact that God loved us so much that He gave us the Son of His Bosom, His only begotten Son.

    1. No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom (heart=desires/daily choices=law of God, a transcript of God's character) of the Father, He has declared Him. John 1:18.

    2. Jesus says, I am the truth. Thy law is truth. Jesus is the truth, the law of God written to our bosom, our heart, our center is our thoughts, our daily little choices, which is the fused human and divine Spirit of Christ (2 Cor 15:45; Rom 8:9) in our bosom or fleshy tables of our heart/mind/thoughts. Christ is the thought of God made audible. We are to be the thought of Christ made audible to the world. We are to declare Christ to the world. God declares His Father, We declare OUR Father, our everlasting Father of Isaiah 9:6 to the world.

  1. “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth” (John 17:17). There is no genuine sanctification except through obedience to the truth. Those who love God with all the heart will love all His commandments also. The sanctified heart is in harmony with the precepts of God's law; for they are holy, just, and good. SL 67.2

  2. "He chose to give us birth through the word of truth (His Son), that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created" James 1:18. We receive Christ, our new man/body by faith, the one body that we are to get into through praise and thanksgiving Psalm 100:4, John 14:6. We are reconciled back to the bosom of the Father and God of Christ, through our being, by faith, in the body of Christ (Heb 10:5 "a body thou has prepared for me"), this is the only body that is our transport ship, our ascension robes, our clean white linen garment that the Bride makes herself ready by faith. The Bride of Christ are the 144,000, the New Jerusalem that Christ builds without hands. This is the WORDS that the 144,000 give, the THIRD ANGEL'S MESSAGE, that is the lightenings and thunder, the river of truth that comes out of the mouths of the 144,000 which are the Throne of God.

  3. "Those who arose when Jesus did, kept their eyes fixed on Him as He left the throne and led them out a little way. Then He raised His right arm, and we heard His lovely voice saying, “Wait here; I am going to My Father to receive the kingdom; keep your garments spotless, and in a little while I will return from the wedding (in the MOST HOLY PLACE aka Bridal Chambers - the spiritual union of Christ's mind in us, His Father's law/mind becomes our mind's thoughts and feelings, our character becomes refined to reflect the Ten Commandments = Godlike character flashes into humanity = the blending of divinity with humanity, Godlike thoughts and feelings become our moral character) and receive you to Myself.” Then a cloudy chariot, with wheels like flaming fire, surrounded by angels, came to where Jesus was. He stepped into the chariot and was borne to the holiest, where the Father sat. There I beheld Jesus, a great High Priest, standing before the Father. On the hem of His garment was a bell and a pomegranate, a bell and a pomegranate. Those who rose up with Jesus would send up their faith to Him in the holiest, and pray, “My Father, give us Thy Spirit.” Then Jesus would breathe upon them the Holy Ghost. In that breath was light, power, and much love, joy, and peace." Early Writings, p. 55.1

    1. "In the holiest" means in our minds. When we submit our all to Christ our minds become Godlike in character, we reflect the Ten Commandments in our thoughts and feelings! Our minds become the Throne of God and His Son's invisible Presence and Power (character). Our body, our mind is a Temple, the sacred secret dwelling place of the Most High. (Psalms 91:1) The lost Ark of the Covenant is found! It is your mind when you enter into Christ, God's Sanctuary through thanksgiving and praise to God! We are the temple that God builds without hands and will raise up in 3 days! Hosea 6:2...the third day we live in His sight, in the sight of a Holy God. 2 days equal 2 thousand years after Christ's resurrection.

    2. Exodus 25:22 "And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat (our minds), from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel."

Begotten means created! Why? Because all things created are

not begotten; whereas all things begotten are created! I think you can see the point of difference here.

Cindy, you have caused me to do some further thinking. I was thinking of inanimate objects as being created, but not begotten, like the sun, moon, and stars. However, if created means spoken into being, as Ps. 33:6, 9 seems to indicate, then possibly begotten could be understood as coming forth from His mouth, begotten by His word.(comp.I Pet. 1:3 and I Cor.4:15)

Was Jesus "created" or "begotten"?

Or does "begotten" mean "created"?

"As far as Terry is concerned, I have only one point I disagree with him on at present, and that is whether Christ was created or not. He believes Christ was not Created, but begotten; whereas I believe that to be begotten is the highest form of creation. CREATION means to be brought into existence or being. Even he believes Christ was brought into being by His Father in the eternal past! Well, that's what creation means! Most people think that Christ can't be created and be a Creator at the same time. Why not? Aren't we? We're all created beings, yet God has chosen to make us instruments by which He creates other human beings. Well, to me, it's the same with Christ. God brought Him into being by begetting Him; then He used Him as His instrument to create all other beings and things. (Eph.3:9). God is the only One that is without beginning! the "uncreated One." See PP 305. RH 7-9-1895:" The eternal Father, the unchangeable One, gave His only begotten Son, tore from His bosom, Him who was made in the express image of His person, and sent Him down to this earth to reveal how greatly He loved mankind." Why did she say, "Him Who was made."? To "make" is to "create." See Gen. 2:4. Why didn't she say in this quote, "Him Who was begotten"? It is evident, at least to me, that in this text, they mean the same thing. But some people just seem to be not able to grasp it. Once we get an idea in our heads, it is is very difficult to relinquish it. As one brother put it, we all have our opinions; it's just that I think mine is the best! Pride of opinion doesn't die easily. As Jesus said to Saul, It is hard for thee to kick against the pricks! (It is easier to yield, in other words). But, once he yielded, he became another man! May his be our experience. God grant it, Now if you give your heart to be His royal throne, you will have in heaven an eternal home! Amen!" —Wilbur Hargreaves, excerpt from e-mail on August 17, 2016 to Cindy Randolph.

"One detail that comes to mind at present, is Prov. 8:22. "The Lord possessed Me in the beginning of His way, before His works of old." The word "possessed" Strong says means "erected, created." Your father was a builder; he erected houses! They didn't exist until he created them. So the word "create" means "to bring into existence or being" something or someone, that didn't exist previously. Ellen White makes it clear in PP 34, that Prov. 8 applies to Christ. So, putting it all together, I believe Christ was a created being, by being brought forth by His Father. "Brought forth" means, according to Strong again, "to be born." So, to be brought forth, or born, of the Father, is to come into existence, or to be created. Why is it so difficult to believe that the great Creator of all things and beings, could create from Himself, another Creator just like Himself? And do so, by begetting Him! [Like Father, Like Son!]

"Jehovah, the eternal, self-existent, uncreated One, Himself the Source and Sustainer of all, is alone entitled to supreme reverence and worship" Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 305.4 (Ellen G. White)." Excerpt from email sent by Wilbur Hargreaves on August 18, 2016 to Cindy Randolph.

“The rainbow in the clouds is but a symbol of the rainbow which has encircled the throne from eternity. Back in the ages, which finite mind cannot fathom, the Father and Son were alone in the universe. Christ was the first begotten of the Father, and to Him Jehovah made known the divine plan of Creation. The plan of the creation of worlds was unfolded, together with the order of beings which should people them. Angels, as representatives of one order, would be ministers of the God of the universe. The creation of our own little world, was included in the deep-laid plans. The fall of Lucifer was foreseen; likewise the possibility of the introduction of sin, which would mar the perfection of the divine handiwork. It was then, in those early councils, that Christ's heart of love was touched; and the only begotten Son pledged His life to redeem man, should he yield and fall. Father and Son, surrounded by impenetrable glory, clasped hands. It was in appreciation of this offer, that upon Christ was bestowed creative power, and the everlasting covenant was made; and henceforth Father and Son, with one mind, worked together to complete the work of creation. Sacrifice of self for the good of others was the foundation of it all” — (S.N. Haskell, The Story of the Seer of Patmos, pp. 93, 94, 1905).

"And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit" 1 Corinthians 15:45. Quickening means "life-giving" Spirit. "Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures" James 1:18.

You'll see that originally Uriah Smith held the position that Christ was a created being, but later he changed. As I see it, there is no discrepancy in creation and begotten, except in the human mind! It is an enigma to say that God cannot bring into being, or create, another being exactly like Himself, from Himself!

It is limiting the power of God! Is anything impossible with God? Since He can raise up children to Abraham of stones, how can we put any limitations on what He can or can't do? Create simply means to bring into existence or being. GOD has different methods of doing this! In our finite thinking, we want to limit Him, in order to bring Him into accordance with our limited way of thinking. We want to create a God in OUR image, the reverse of the original, - God's way of doing it. But God won't be limited to man's narrow mindedness! The begetting of His Son from Himself, was the highest form of creation, because it was His own chosen method of bringing into existence an exact copy of Himself, from Himself, - an identical twin, if you will? And this concept is in harmony with the Hebrew meaning given by Strong on the word "possessed " in Proverbs 8:22, "The LORD possessed (erected or created) Me..."

When our own understanding is limited, we are prone, in our fallen human nature, to limit GOD!

"Could not the Father ordain that to such a being worship should be rendered equally with himself, without it's being idolatry on the part of the worshiper? He has raised him to positions which make it proper that he should be worshiped, and has even commanded that worship should be rendered him, which would not have been necessary, had he been equal with the Father in eternity of existence." Uriah Smith, Daniel and the Revelation, 1897 edition p. 430".

Thanks for sharing. Cindy, Br. Littlejohn gave a good argument against theTrinity,

but in answering the questioner, he didn't make clear what create means! Nobody

does, that I have read, that I can remember! The problem remains, what do we do

with the Hebrew meaning of "possessed" in Prov.8:22, according to Strong's?

No one ever seems to address this! And, what do we do with E.G.W. RH 7-9-1895,

where she says Christ was "made"? Doesn't "made" mean the same as "create"?

CHRIST NOT A CREATED BEING

The following quotation by W. H. Littlejohn might not be new to some, but it was for me. Please notice that he speaks on behalf of S. D. Adventists, clearly explaining what the denomination believes, and does NOT believe. Also, it is the only quotation I know of that articulates the rationale why the Father "should have antedated Christ in his being" (clearly rejecting the "incarnational Sonship" theory). Then Littlejohn insists that SDA's only "hold to the distinct personality of the Father and Son", rejecting the notion of "distinct personality" for the Holy Spirit. Finally, Littlejohn references the "Fundamental Principles of S. D. Adventists" as supporting everything he has just explained. This is an important point, considering there are some who explain the "Fundamental Principles" to be "neutral" regarding the Trinity, and therefore could be accepted by Trinitarians and non-Trinitarians alike.

Advent Review, April 17, 1883 p. 250

96.—CHRIST NOT A CREATED BEING.

Will you please favor me with those scriptures which plainly say that Christ is a created being? J. C.

ANS. You are mistaken in supposing that S. D. Adventists teach that Christ was ever created. They believe, on the contrary, that he was "begotten" of the Father, and that he can properly be called God and worshiped as such. S. D. Adventists hold that God and Christ are one in the sense that Christ prayed that his disciples might be one; i. e., one in spirit, purpose, and labor. See "Fundamental Principles of S. D. Adventists," published at this Office. Price, 4 cts. (W. H. Littlejohn, p. 250)

Ellen White is communicating the idea that while Jesus Christ and His Father are distinct in their persons, they are still one in purpose and the plan of Salvation, but NOT in person. Elsewhere she wrote: “The Lord Jesus Christ, the divine Son of God, existed from eternity, a distinct person, yet one with the Father (Review and Herald, April 5, 1906). Here she is attempting to explain this distinction after the incarnation without undermining the truth that Christ and the Father are still of “one substance, possessing the same attributes.” (Signs of the Times, Nov. 27, 1893). The “mystery of the incarnation” the blending, fusing together divinity and humanity cannot be fully explained in human words, as she herself acknowledges.

“The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified [it] by his angel unto his servant John: Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw” (Revelation 1:1-2). The whole Bible is a revelation; for all revelation to men comes through Christ, and all centers in Him. God has spoken unto us by His Son, whose we are by creation and by redemption. Christ came to John exiled on the Isle of Patmos to give him the truth for these last days, to show him that which must shortly come to pass. Jesus Christ is the great trustee of divine revelation. It is through Him that we have a knowledge of what we are to look for in the closing scenes of this earth’s history. God gave this revelation to Christ, and Christ communicated the same to John.

John, the beloved disciple, was the one chosen to receive this revelation. He was the last survivor of the first chosen disciples. Under the New Testament dispensation he was honored as the prophet Daniel was honored under the Old Testament dispensation.

The instruction to be communicated to John was so important that Christ came from heaven to give it to His servant, telling him to send it to the churches. This instruction is to be the object of our careful and prayerful study; for we are living in a time when men who are not under the teaching of the Holy Spirit will bring in false theories. These men have been standing in high places, and they have ambitious projects to carry out. They seek to exalt themselves, and to revolutionize the whole showing of things. God has given us special instruction to guard us against such ones. He bade John write in a book that which should take place in the closing scenes of this earth’s history (MS 129, 1905).

Differences between God the Father and the Son of God, two distint beings:

  • God the Father is older in age than His Son

  • God the Father does not have scars in His hands from being nailed to the cross like His Son does

  • The Son of God was SMITTEN at the cross, killed, by God the Father by withdrawing His Spirit from Him because Christ was MADE to be SIN for us, He bore ALL of our terrible sinful sins upon His own body for us. Laid down His life for a friend, us. He died at 3PM the same exact time of the lamb was always sacrificed on the day of Atonement. Christ became the last sacrifice ever needed for mankind, a new living way was opened, for God to be reconciled back to living inside of man, through the Spirit of His Son dwelling in our human, mortal body. Invite the Spirit of Christ to dwell in you today, the one who completely died for you and was raised to become a human and divine life-giving quickening Spirit per 1 Cor 15:45 and Romans 8:9!

  • God the Father is not both human and Divine like His Son was made at Bethlehem

  • The Son has a Father and GOD

  • The Father is supreme in authority over all the Universe

  • The Son of God is second/next in command to His Father, subordinate (lower in rank or position) to His Father. The Son of God inherited self-existence and the very self-existent life of His Father by right as the only begotten Son of God. God only had ONE SON. CHRIST HAS MANY SONS AND DAUGHTERS! Because he is both Human and Divine, HE ALONE CAN BEGAT HUMAN AND DIVINE SONS AND DAUGHTERS! God the Father is not both human and divine, He is only DIVINE, not human. This is why Abraham, Noah, the Patriarch's all looked forward to the cross, and we look back to the cross. The daily animal sacrifices pointed forward to Christ, the human and divine Son of God and Man dying upon the cross for our sins, is the only atonement able to be made for mankind! The Son of God FUSED forever in a human body also known as the Son of Man. Both the Son of God and the Son of Man fused in one body, one Spirit, one baptism, one hope. Jesus Christ!

  • God has GIVEN His Son all authority in heaven and earth until the rebellion is squashed forever. Then the Son of God will be subject in authority

  • The Father is choosing a Bride for His Son for eternity from among those who live under the Three Angel's Message's, the church triumphant era 1840 until probation closes for the House of God at the Sunday Law legislation. As people make their choice to serve God's law or a man-made law that violates the 4th Commandment, see Rev 14:12, Psalm 100:4, and read the "The History of the Sabbath and the First Day of the Week" by J. N. Andrews (1829-1883) here.

  • "The Son is 'the everlasting Father,' not of himself, nor of his Father, but of his children. His language is, 'I and the children which God hath given me.' Heb. 2:13." R. F. Cottrell (1814-1892) Review and Herald, June 1, 1869.

Father is older in age than His natural first-born of the Spirit in Heaven as the Son of God who "in a new sense" was begotten again of the flesh in Bethlehem as both the Son of God and the Son of Man. Fused, blended, mixed human and divine forever after to be a human being, also a quickening, life-giving human and divine Spirit to fill our sacred body temples with the fully divine and fully human Spirit of Christ.

Before the creation of our world, “there was war in heaven.” Christ and the Father covenanted together; and Lucifer, the covering cherub, grew jealous because he was not admitted into the eternal councils of the Two who sat upon the throne.” — (S.N. Haskell, The Story of the Seer of Patmos, pages 217, 1905)

Christ was the firstborn in heaven; He was likewise the firstborn of God upon earth, and heir to the Father's throne. Christ, the firstborn, though the Son of God, was clothed in humanity, and was made perfect through suffering. He took the form of man, and through eternity, He will remain a man.” — (S.N. Haskell, The Story of the Seer of Patmos, pp. 98, 99, 1905)

“The Scriptures clearly indicate the relation between God and Christ, and they bring to view as clearly the personality and individuality of each. [Hebrews 1:1-5 quoted.] God is the Father of Christ; Christ is the Son of God. To Christ has been given an exalted position. He has been made equal with the Father. All the counsels of God are opened to His Son” (Ellen White, Testimonies for the Church, vol. 8, page 268).

GOD AND HIS SON MADE US AND ALSO GAVE US CREATIVE POWERS LIKE THEM! "Ye are gods" John 10:34: "These signs shall follow them that believe" Mark 16:17. Learn more about how to perform miracles by claiming and trusting in God's exceedingly great and precious promises here!

Gen. 1:26: “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” God and His Son made us in their likeness, after their image, and has GIVEN US CREATIVE POWER! TO BE ABLE TO SPEAK THINGS INTO EXISTENCE BY GOING INTO THE MOST HOLY PLACE BY FAITH INTO THE HEAVENLY SANCTUARY IN THE THIRD HEAVEN AND CLAIMING THE WORD OF GOD LIKE JESUS CAME TO GIVE US SO WE COULD DO THIS THROUGH HIM! This means we can also speak things into existence (2 Peter 1:4, James 3:2, Luke 21:15) like Jesus did through God's power living in us by the reconciling blood and presence of Christ dwelling in our sacred body temples! Christ writes the 12 Laws of God and His Statutes to our minds, our hearts desire, our daily choices by the Spirit of Christ dwelling inside of us per Romans 8:9! Take a moment to wrap your mind around that idea! "Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?" John 10:34. "You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor" Psalm 8:5. "I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High" Psalms 82:6. "Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?" John 10:34. "or though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)" 1 Cor 8:5. "But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him" 1 Corinthians 8:6. "If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken [set aside];" John 10:35. "Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?" John 10:36. (or in NIV "what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, 'I am God's Son'?")

In 1874 the very first issue of the periodical “Signs of the Times” was edited and published by Elder James White, where 25 Fundamental Principles held “with great unanimity” by the early Adventist pioneer people were introduced. Repairers of the breach in the law of God. Here are the principles relating to God. They were modeled on Deuteronomy 6:4 and 1st Corinthians 8:6.

1- That there is one God, a personal, spiritual being, the creator of all things, omnipotent, omniscient, and eternal, infinite in wisdom, holiness, justice, goodness, truth, and mercy; unchangeable, and everywhere present by his representative, the Holy Spirit. Ps. 139:7.

2- That there is one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Eternal Father, the one by whom God created all things, and by whom they do consist; that he took on him the nature of the seed of Abraham for the redemption of our fallen race; . . .

These two statements above found in the 1872 and 1889 Fundamental Beliefs of the Protestant Adventist remained unchanged until 1931.

Email from Bro. Wilbur Hargreaves to Cindy Randolph Haynes on Nov. 5, 2016:

Dear Cindy, Thank you. I just can't agree with Br. Waggoner about Christ not being

created, because of what the word actually means - - to come into being! Even he

believed Christ had a beginning of existence! So that's what creation means! I'm

left to wonder what he believed creation means? I believe Ellen White's quote on

this is misunderstood, just like her quote in DA 530 is misunderstood bytrinitarians.

Also, to believe otherwise, is to contradict Strong's on Prov.8:22 " possessed". My

Conscience is bound to uphold the truth! In brotherly love, Wilbur

Question #11:What was Ellen White's last testimony to the SDA Church?

“I am charged to tell our people that they do not realize that the devil has device after device, and he carries them out in ways that they do not expect. Satan’s agencies will invent ways to make sinners out of saints. I tell you now, that when I am laid to rest, great changes will take place. I do not know when I shall be taken; and I desire to warn all against the devices of the devil. I want the people to know that I warned them fully before my death.” {Manuscript 1, February 24, 1915. (Emphasis supplied)}

16 years after the Prophetesses death in 1915, the Trinity doctrine was smuggled into the Fundamental Beliefs in 1931 and then in 1980 the Trinity was offically adopted as Doctrine # 2. Under the leadership and direction of Neal C. Wilson at the 1980 General Conference Session in Dallas Texas the Trinity was officially voted in as a Fundamental Belief (Doctrine #2) of the modern 501c3 Adventist church today.

As early as 1845 (See Joseph Bates (1792-1872) Laodicean article here) the Seventh Day Adventist movement started to apostize from what the early SDA pioneers taught (1840-1894) in the beginning of Adventism. "The history of the early experiences in the message will be a power to withstand the masterly ingenuity of Satan’s deceptions" Ellen White, Lt 99, 1905 (April 6, 1905) par. 7.

SEE Fundamental Beliefs 1980 Warning notice: See the "official" adoption of the TRINITY since it's first CHANGE or insertion in 1931 (only 16 years after the messenger of the Lord died in 1915) into the SDA = at the Dallas Texas General Conference Session.

This gradual change in religions from Protestant Adventist (1840-1894) to Catholic Adventist, starting with Dr. Harvey Kellogg, the Alpha of Apostasy is Pantheism fully developed Tritheism a form/version/flavor of Trinitarinism, and waxing stronger in 1931 from formerly PROTESTANT TO CATHOLIC by changing WHO ADVENTISTS worshiped finally became the "Omega" predicted by Ellen White officially in 1980. This prompted World Leader Neal C. Wilson bold statement in 1981, 34 years ago, to plainly and honestly tell the whole the once PROTESTANT Adventist movement had turned into a CATHOLIC procession movement just as the Messenger of the Lord had warned and predicted in 1867: "The company now presented the appearance of a Catholic procession"—Ellen White, Testimonies for the Church, vol. 1, p. 577.2 (Ellen G. White), January 29, 1867:

"...There is another universal and truly catholic organization, the Seventh-day Adventist Church" —Neal C. Wilson, Review, March 5, 1981, page 3.

Some will tend to resist this doctrine (the trinity) because it is NOT found expressly stated in the scriptures.” Adventist Review Aug 20, 1993, Page 8.

"While no single scriptural passage states formally the doctrine of the Trinity, it is assumed as a fact by Bible writers and mentioned several times. Only by faith can we accept the existence of the Trinity" Adventist Review, Vol. 158, No. 31, p. 4.

The early Pioneers of the Adventist movement from 1840-1894: "And in their mouth [Faithful FEW SDA Pioneers like James White (1821-1881), Ellen White (1827-1915), Joseph Bates (1792-1892), Stephen N. Haskell (1833-1922), J. N. Andrews (1829-1883), Hiram Edson (1806–1882), Otis Nichols (1798-1876), and others] was found no guile (no false doctrines aka "marks" of the beast aka "doctrines" of the beast): for they are without fault (speak the truth) before the throne of God" Revelation 14:5 (KJV).

"My husband, Elder Joseph Bates, Father Pierce, Elder Edson, a man who was keen, noble, and true, and many others whose names I cannot now recall were among those who, after the passing of the time in 1844, searched for truth. At our important meetings, these men would meet together and search for the truth as for hidden treasure. I met with them, and we studied and prayed earnestly; for we felt that we must learn God’s truth. Often we remained together until late at night, and sometimes through the entire night, praying for light and studying the word. As we fasted and prayed, great power come upon us" —Ms 135, 1903 (November 4, 1903) par. 1.

Consider that many 501c3 Seventh-day Adventists are ignorantly worshipping the same God that they are told not to worship in the third angel’s message, the god of the beast power? Are we calling the true Godhead by the name of a false god? What god are we worshipping today?

The Third Angel's Message:

Revelation 14:9-12 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast (Papacy) and his image [copy Catholic doctrines], and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name (His Name is what we think and do, it is a "mark" (thoughts) in our forehead and what we DO means "hand", is HIS NAME, HIS CHARACTER, our thoughts and feelings, our daily little choices determines our eternal destiny).12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus" Revelation 14:9-12, Third Angel's Message.

1926: One of the first steps that the SDA church took was to adopt working policy #O 75 [in 2006, it was referred to as: #O 110] in which the leadership of the church voted to recognize the Jesuits “as a part of the divine plan for evangelization of the world.” {Seventh-day Adventist Encyclopedia, Second Revised Edition, 1995, Art. “Ecumenism”}

More recently. . . 2005-2006 Working Policy of the General Conference of SDA: # O 110 - Relationships with Other Christian Churches and Religious Organizations, retrieved on March 13, 2012 via <http://www.bibelschule.info/streaming/Working-policy-of-the-General-Conference-of-Seventh-day-Adventists---2005-2006_21970.pdf> By this single traitorous act, the church closed its probation, and has indeed become fallen and beyond reform.

Subsequent acts and actions of the SDA Church confirmed beyond a shadow of doubt the fallen condition into which the church plummeted after 1926, a far cry from the repentance which should have taken place:

1931: Adoption of the Roman Catholic Trinity doctrine.

1957: The SDA Church declared oneness with the fallen Protestants denominations.

“We are one with our fellow Christian denominational groups in the great fundamentals of the faith once delivered to the saints.” {Questions on Doctrine (Seventh-day Adventist book), p. 32.}

This book came right after the end of the discussion of 1955 and 1956 with the Protestants Barnhouse and Martin. In this book, the Church changed her position on Christ’s nature to that of Adam’s nature before the fall, and changed her teaching on the Atonement being completed at the Cross, instead of actually starting at the Cross. These compromises and changes were required by the Protestant leaders in order to categorize the Seventh-day Adventist Church as an evangelical Christian church instead of being classified as a sect.

1974: The SDA Church officially declared to the world the Rome is no longer the Beast of Revelation.

“Although it is true that there was a period in the life of the Seventh-day Adventist Church when the denomination took a distinctly anti-Roman Catholic viewpoint...that attitude on the Church's part was nothing more than a manifestation of widespread anti-popery among conservative Protestant denominations in the early part of this century and the latter part of the last, and which has now been consigned to the historical trash heap so far as the Seventh-day Adventist Church is concerned.” {Jesuit Neal C. Wilson, past president of the Seventh-day Adventist General Conference; Court Transcript of United States vs. the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission vs. the Pacific Press Publishing Association and the General Conference. Reply Brief for Defendants, p. 4, Civil Case #74-2025 CBR, presided over by Judge Charles B. Renfrew, U.S. District Court, San Francisco, California, 1974-1975.}

1977: Having surrendered to the Protestants in 1957, the SDA Church formally surrenders to Rome.

“B. B. Beach has a private audience with Pope Paul VI in the Vatican and presents him with gold medallion confirming friendship of the SDA Church with the Vatican” {RH, Aug 11, 1977.}

1995: At the General Conference Session in the Netherlands, the Vatican flag was carried through the meeting hall in a singular fashion amidst an unusually loud ovation.

1999: Pope John Paul II is welcomed in St. Louis by the SDA Pastor B.T. Rice with the following words:

“Pope, your Holiness, your historic visit to St. Louis Missouri has served as a catalyst in the creation of this program (ecumenical program) and it transforms your presence into a lasting legacy for our region. Today, we present to you this proclamation, announcing the Creation of Faith Beyond Walls; your commitment to improving inter-faith relations has fostered an environment wherein the spirit of collective faith positively can thrive. In addition, we also present you with this banner, the emblem of Faith Beyond Walls. We hope and pray it will inspire inter-faith communities around the world to focus their efforts on improving health and the quality of life for all humanity. Again, we welcome you to our region.” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Uqf3ibbhuc)

The “great changes” in the Seventh Day Adventist Church which Sister Ellen White warned us of in her last testimony have indeed taken place. She could not separate from the SDA Church because it was still under probation while she was alive. The official changes that would have given her concrete evidence that Yahuwah’s Spirit no longer resided with the SDA corporate body took place decisively after her death.

The famed SDA historian and leader, Dr. George Knight, has blatantly affirmed in Ministry Magazine, that

“Most of the founders of Seventh-day Adventism would not be able to join the church today if they had to

subscribe to the denomination’s Fundamental Beliefs.” {George R. Knight,Ministry, October, 1993, p. 10}

No honest truth seeker would want to continue being a member of a church devoid of God's divine presence and whose beliefs today would not be accepted by Ellen White and the pioneers.

"It was in the order of God that Christ should take upon himself the form and nature of fallen man, that he might be made perfect through suffering, and himself endure the strength of Satan's fierce temptations, that he might understand how to succor those who should be tempted" {RH December 31, 1872}.

"[In Christ] the Godhead was not made human, and the human was not deified by the blending together of the two natures. Christ did not possess the same sinful, corrupt, fallen disloyalty we possess, for then He could not be a perfect offering" {RH April 25, 1893}

"Christ made a full atonement, giving His life as a ransom for us. He was born without a taint of sin, but came into the world in like manner as the human family. He did not have a mere semblance of a body, but He took human nature, participating in the life of humanity" (Letter 97, 1898). {7BC 926}

Man could not atone for man. His sinful, fallen condition would constitute him an imperfect offering, an atoning sacrifice of less value than Adam before his fall. God made man perfect and upright, and after his transgression there could be no sacrifice acceptable to God for him, unless the offering made should in value be superior to man as he was in his state of perfection and innocency. The divine Son of God was the only sacrifice of sufficient value to fully satisfy the claims of God's perfect law. Christ alone could open the way, by making an offering equal to the demands of the divine law. He was perfect, and undefiled by sin. He was without spot or blemish. {RH December 17, 1872}

Understanding what Ellen White meant by "passions," "infirmities," "weaknesses," and "propensities" has been part of the Seventh-day Adventist debate over the human nature of Christ. In the preceding quotes from her writings she often made references to Christ’s nature having “the weaknesses of the fallen race” (RH Feb. 24, 1874), taking “upon himself the infirmities” and bearing “the griefs and sorrows of humanity” (RH Feb. 10, 1885), or assuming “human nature, with its infirmities, its liabilities, its temptations” (Ms 58, 1890). In contrast, she stated that “He is a brother in our infirmities, but not in possessing like passions” (2T 202), he did not have in him any “evil propensity” (Lt 8, 1895), and he did not possess “the same sinful, corrupt propensities as man” (Ms 57, 1890).
