William Miller (1782–1849) 67 Years Old - "only the cases of the professed people of God are considered at the investigative judgment" {GC 480.1}. “The time of God's destructive judgments is the time of mercy for those who have had no opportunity to learn what is truth. Tenderly will the Lord look upon them. His heart of mercy is touched; His hand is still stretched out to save, while the door is closed to those who would not enter.” {9T 97}

William Miller is one of the greatest scholars of the Bible ever born. Although William Miller, as I

understand it, will not be one of the 144,000 angel's who replace the fallen angel'sthat were kicked out of Heaven. Because he did not grasp the truth of the 7th day Sabbath clearly BEFORE His death; because of some of his colleagues wrong influence upon him, he had not accepted the 7th day Sabbath message as of before his death, because of the wrong influence upon him from a few of his colleagues who had influenced him against taking a stand for the 7th day Sabbath, the Third Angel's message (Rev. 14:9-12). William Miller, will be in Heaven but not a part of the 144,000. William Miller WILL though be surprisingly vindicated about the Coming of Christ in 1844! (See Charles Fitch's sermon in 1843 titled "Come Out of Her My People" here) Because the coming of Christ was Christ coming into His people, His Bride prior to the 2nd event of Christ, the spiritual coming into His bride the consummation of truth (3 Angel's Messages the straight testimony to the Laodicean Church) [Prediction: "Our religion would be changed..[from Protestant to Catholic, starts out as a Lamb and ends up speaking as a dragon of Rev 13:11]..A new organization [1888/1903 hierarchical 1936 (501c3) corporation] would be established." Selected Messages, book 1, p 204-205.] into His Bride, the 144,000 (Those who keep Rev 14:6-12, and the 4th Angel's Message Rev 18:4, Rev 2:23 "I will strike her children dead. Then ALL (including 501c3 SDA!!! Luke 10:10-13, and Ezekiel 8-9) the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds."), Luke 10:12-15 applies to the SDA church per Ellen White, not Christ's physical, literal coming in the clouds of Heaven! The 144,000 represent CLOUDS, the WHITE CLOUD that Christ steps on - dwells in. "Then commenced the jubilee, when the land should rest. I saw the pious slave [DEBT SLAVE!!] rise in triumph and victory and shake off the chains that bound him, while his wicked master was in confusion and knew not what to do; for the wicked could not understand the words of the voice of God. Soon appeared the great white cloud (See the references to "clouds" here: https://sites.google.com/site/theendtimewarning/sabbath =the small cloud in the sky-half the size of a man's hand is the concave, bent hand of Elder James S. White writing the Present Truth articles about the 7th day Sabbath - sign of the coming of the Son of Man again - in the CLOUDS (144,000) in the eastern Skies). It looked more lovely than ever before. On it sat the Son of man. At first we did not see Jesus on the cloud, but as it drew near the earth we could behold His lovely person. This cloud, when it first appeared, was the sign of the Son of man in heaven. The voice of the Son of God called forth the sleeping saints, clothed with glorious immortality. The living saints were changed in a moment and were caught up with them into the cloudy chariot. It looked all over glorious as it rolled upward. On either side of the chariot were wings, and beneath it wheels. And as the chariot rolled upward, the wheels cried, “Holy,” and the wings, as they moved, cried, “Holy,” and the retinue of holy angels around the cloud cried, “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty!” And the saints in the cloud cried, “Glory! Alleluia!” And the chariot rolled upward to the Holy City. Jesus threw open the gates of the golden city and led us in. Here we were made welcome, for we had kept the “commandments of God,” and had a “right to the tree of life.” EW 35.1)

"The apostle's admonition to the Thessalonians contains an important lesson for those who live in the last days. Many Adventists have felt that unless they could fix their faith upon a definite time for the Lord's coming, they could not be zealous and diligent in the work of preparation. But as their hopes are again and again excited, only to be destroyed, their faith receives such a shock that it becomes well-nigh impossible for them to be impressed by the great truths of prophecy. The preaching of a definite time for the Judgment, in the giving of the first message, was ordered of God. The computation of the prophetic periods on which that message was based, placing the close of the 2300 days in the autumn of 1844, stands without impeachment. The repeated efforts to find new dates for the beginning and close of the prophetic periods, and the unsound reasoning necessary to sustain these positions, not only lead minds away from the present truth, but throw contempt upon all efforts to explain the prophecies. The more frequently a definite time is set for the second advent, and the more widely it is taught, the better it suits the purposes of Satan. After the time has passed, he excites ridicule and contempt of its advocates, and thus casts reproach upon the great Advent movement of 1843 and 1844" GC88 456.2.

Watch a skit/video about William Miller here.

“During, the twelve years I was a deist, I read all histories I could find; but now I loved the Bible It taught of Jesus! But still there was a good deal of the Bible that was dark to me. In 1818 or 19, while conversing with a friend! To whom I made a visit, and who had known and heart me talk while I was a deist, he inquired, in rather a significant manner, ‘What do you think of this text, and that?’ referring to the old texts I objected to while a deist. I understood what he was about, and replied - If you will give me time, I will tell you what they mean. ‘How long time do you want?’ I don’t know, but I will tell you, I replied, for I could not believe that God had given a revelation that could not be understood I then resolved to study my Bible, believing I could find out what the Holy Spirit meant. But as soon as I had formed this resolution the thought came to me - ‘Suppose you find a passage that you cannot understand, what will you do?’ This mode of studying the Bible then came to my mind: - I will take the words of such passages, and trace them through the Bible, and find out their meaning in this way. I had Cruden’s Concordance, which I think is the best in the world; so I took that and my Bible, and set down to my desk, and read nothing else, except the newspapers a little, for I was determined to know what my Bible meant. I began at Genesis, and read on slowly; and when I came to a text that I could could [sic] not understand, I searched through the Bible to find out what it meant. After I had gone through the Bible in this way, O, how bright and glorious the truth appeared! I found what I have been preaching to you. I was satisfied that the seven times terminated in 1843. Then I came to the 2300 days; they brought me to the same conclusion; but I had no thought of finding out when the Saviour was coming, and I could not believe it; but the light struck me so forcibly I did not know what to do. Now, I thought, I must put on spurs and breeching; I will not go faster than the Bible, and I will not fall behind it. Whatever the Bible teaches, I will hold on to it. But still there were some texts that I could nor understand.” {TSAM 65.3}

The first of the prophetic periods, which are considered as main pillars in the calculations of Mr. Miller, is found in Leviticus 26:18 - 28. {TSAM 33.1}

The preaching of a definite time for the judgment, in the giving of the first message, was ordered of God. The computation of the prophetic PERIODS (plural) on which that message was BASED, placing the close of the 2300 days in the autumn of 1844, stands without impeachment. - The Great Controversy, 457. CIHS 115.1

To William Miller and his colaborers it was given to preach the warning in America. This country became the center of the great advent movement. It was here that the prophecy of the first angel's message had its most direct fulfillment. The writings of Miller and his associates were carried to distant lands. Wherever missionaries had penetrated in all the world, were sent the glad tidings of Christ's speedy return. Far and wide spread the message of the everlasting gospel: “Fear God, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come.” {GC 368.1}

The 6000 years and 2450 were also confirmed by the Spirit of God.

All the messages given from 1840 - 1844 are to be made forcible now, for there are many people who have lost their bearings. The messages are to go to all the churches. {21MR 437.1}

LECTURE 17: On the Punishment of the People of God Seven Times for their Sins (1836)

LEVITICUS 26:23,24

See the 1843 (by Elder Charles Fitch and Elder Appolos Hale) and 1850 (by Elder Otis Nichols) Charts and both Keys of Explaination for the 1843/1850 here:https://sites.google.com/site/howtoperformmiracles/sabbath/pioneers/charts

And if ye will not be reformed by me by these things, but will walk contrary unto me, then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins.

We are in the habit of reading the judgments and threatening in the word of God, as denunciations against some other people but ourselves. We are very fond of throwing back upon the Jews what, upon the principle of equity and justice, would equally belong to us Gentiles. By this mode of reasoning, wicked, unbelieving idolaters, murderers, whoremongers, adulterers, and all liars, may and do resist the force of God's word, and flatter themselves, in their lustful career, that the judgment is past, and that they may go on in sin with impunity. But it is not only this abominable class of mankind who pervert the word of God to their own condemnation, but many of those who profess to be pious and even teachers and expounders of the word, do take the same unholy ground to limit the Holy One in his justice and judgment. And by this means they not only wrest the Scriptures to their own condemnation, but others, who follow their pernicious ways, are led into the same errors, and the way of truth is evil spoken of.

This manner of expounding Scripture has been used as the last resort against my appeals to the heart and consciences of sinners to prepare to meet God in judgment. Let me use what passage I please in the Scriptures, whether in the Old or New Testament, these wicked, lustful flatterers of mankind, are ready, with a host of learned commentaries, to show that it was applied to the Jews, and to them only; and then taunt me with their witty saying--"What! you, a unlearned man, think to teach us, contrary to our great and learned commentators!" This, my friends, is the only argument that has ever been produced against my warnings, and proofs of God's near approach to judge the world in righteousness. And here, too, I pledge myself to show that many, and perhaps that, in many cases, a major part, of these commentators are on my side of the question. I know that, in the subject now about to be presented, this argument will be used--"O! that had reference to the Jews only;" and you will, like the wicked Jews, put far off the evil day, until you are caught in the snare, and perish in the pit. The Jews in the days of the prophets said, Ezek. 12:27, "The vision that he seeth is for many days to come, and he prophesieth of the times that are far off." You see, in this sample given us of the Jews, that the same ungodly , wicked perverting, putting off on to others what belongs to us in the visions and threatenings of God against sin, was manifestly the character of the Jews in that day, as it is in ours. The difference is only circumstantial. They put it off a great while to come; we, a great while back. They cast it forward on the backs of the Gentiles; we throw it back into the faces of the Jews. This is the wicked disposition of man in his natural state--self-righteous and self-justificatory. Therefore, use this weapon if you please; it will only discover to angels and men your true character, and God's justice in your condemnation. "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper; but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy," Prov. 28:13. Yet we shall find some things, at least, true,--that the law of God and punishment for sin are the same in all ages, and will be the same in all eternity. If the sins of the old world brought the flood and destruction upon the ungodly, so will the sins of the present world, if committed in the same ungodly spirit, bring down similar judgments and destruction upon us. If Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities of the plain, were destroyed for their abuse of the blessings which God had given them, so shall we be destroyed for our abuse of similar ones. And if the Jews, for their pride, arrogance, self-sufficiency, idolatry and departure from the known commands of God's house, were punished with the sword, pestilence, captivity and persecution; so, most assuredly, will the people of God, in every age, whether under Jews of Gentiles, suffer the like or similar judgments. This can be proved abundantly in all parts of the word of God, and in the history of the church in every age. And did we not pervert the word of God to support our sectarian principles, and to gratify our lustful appetites, we might foresee the consequence of apostasy from God, his laws and commands; as we can foresee the effects of any or all the laws of nature, with which we are so well acquainted. When leaves put forth we know that summer is nigh. When the wind blows long from the south we know it will bring rain. Just so true are all the moral laws of God. Sin will bring death, and pride must bring a fall. The laws of God's house are equally as permanent as the laws of nature; and grace or mercy, call it which you please, are founded upon the law of cause and effect as strong as the laws of adhesion and repulsion. Go where you will, --climb up to heaven, or dig into the depths of hell, --you will find an immovable, fixed, and an eternal law of cause and effect. Let a man love his Maker, obey his laws, and he is happy. Let him love self only, and disobey the laws and commands of God, and misery is the lot of his inheritance, although the world was at his command. Here, then, is the great secret, that mankind must be reformed, or they can never be happy; in one word, they must be born of the Spirit, or they cannot enter the kingdom of God.

The text is a prophecy of God himself, given to Moses, and by him revealed to the people; and is a part of those lively oracles which has been continued as binding upon us, who live under the gospel light, as upon them who lived in the days of the typical priesthood.

It is a prophecy of what would happen to the people of God as a punishment for conduct therein specified. I shall, therefore, in explanation of our subject, show,

1. For what the people of God are punished;

2. Show how they are punished; and,

3. The time they will be punished.

1. First, then, we are to examine the cause of their punishment. The text tells us that it is because they "will not be reformed by me by these things, but will walk contrary unto me;" that is, unto God.

1st. A perverse will. We should suppose that a man who has had his will subdued by the love and Spirit of God, could not be in possession of a will so diametrically opposed to the will of God. Yet history and facts show us plainly that it is so. David, a man after God's own heart, did perform, by his own will, that which was strictly forbidden in the law and commands of God. Peter, too, after his Lord told him he was every whit clean, and after he boldly asserted that, if all men should forsake Christ, he would not, immediately and willingly, as it is implied, cursed and swore, and said he knew not the man. I am aware that the theory of the present day is contrary to the idea that the Christian has two wills, carnal and spiritual; but, upon this theory, I cannot account for the idea of Christians being punished at all, either on the principle of justice or equity. Therefore I am constrained to believe that, in the heart of a Christian, there are two wills. Sometimes he is in subjection to the will of God, and enjoys the sweets of reconciliation; and again his own will governs and controls his acts, and he must feel the chastising rod of his heavenly Father for his wilful disobedience or neglect of his religious duty. It cannot be the will of God that his people "will not be reformed by him." Here is another idea conveyed in our text, which shows that the heart of a Christian is not wholly pure,--"will not be reformed by God;" showing the same independent spirit that our primitive father an mother did in the fall, "to be as gods." We cannot bear the idea of being dependent on God for our reformation. Let us have the power of doing it ourselves, and we will not reject it; but to say we are wholly dependent on God is a hard doctrine: we will not subscribe to such humiliating terms. How can we tell sinners to reform, if they cannot do it? "Where is my guilt? If I cannot reform myself, surely God would be unjust to condemn me for not doing what I cannot do." And thus you argue, throwing all the blame upon God, when all that God has required in the text, is, that you should be willing that he should do the work of reformation for you. And surely God must be the best workman of the two. God says he punishes us, for "ye will not be reformed by me." This, my Christian friend, is our crime, for which the church has been and will be punished seven times. "And if ye will not be reformed by me by these things." What does God mean by "these things"? I answer, It is God does the work, and he means his people shall give him the glory; and when they have passed through the furnace of affliction, and when seven times has passed over them, as it did over Nebuchadnezzar, then will the church, like the proud monarch, learn that God rules in heaven and earth. But could we be willing to learn this lesson without this punishment, "by these things," that is, by the word of God, by the preached gospel, by the mercies of God, by blessings of heaven from above, by blessings of the earth beneath, by the love of God, by the death of Christ, by the ministry of angels, by the strivings of the Holy Spirit; in one word, by all the means of grace; if all these things could teach us that God was the Author and Finisher of our faith, and make us willing to be reformed by him, --then, indeed, he would not have punished us. But, alas! without chastisement we should be "bastards, and not sons." Therefore the cause why the Christian must be punished,-- to subdue their proud, rebellious wills, to humble their haughty and selfish hearts. They must suffer all that wicked men or devils can heap upon them, they must fill up the measure of Christ's sufferings in his body, which is the church, in order to make them fit for heaven or happiness. They must, like gold, be seven times purified. As I have before said, all the mercies of God,and blessings of heaven and earth, could not save the church without the curse and punishment denounced in the word of God. And these, too, must be managed by that all-powerful Arm, the great Jehovah, who, by his wisdom and power, by his grace and rod, will make all things work for the good of his church, and will finally redound to his glory. And at last it will be said, "These have come through great tribulation, having washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

2. I am to show how they are punished.

1st. They are punished by their own deeds. David went with broken bones to his grave; and Peter, when his Lord looked upon him, went out a wept bitterly. Paul had a thorn in his flesh lest he should be exalted above measure. The Jews courted an alliance with Babylon, and by that means were led into bondage and captivity many years. They, contrary to God's express command, afterwards made a league with the Romans, and by them was their city and sanctuary destroyed, and their nation scattered to the four winds of heaven. The church, after the Christian era, courted the popular favor of the kings of the earth, and immediately suffered the ten persecutions. She afterwards sought for secular power for her bishops, and by the same power was driven into the wilderness, and passed through a thousand two hundred and sixty years of torture, darkness, and death. The church, recently, has been courting popularity from the world, raising up a learned ministry, worshipping at the shrine of ancient and modern philosophy; and already her ranks are broken, her piety on the wane, her efforts paralyzed, and infidelity gaining ground.

2nd. By wicked and designing men. Let us remember how Balaam taught Balak to cast stumbling-blocks before the children of Israel. Witness the false prophets in the days of the kings of Israel; also the wicked and designing men in the days of Jeremiah and the prophets; and, finally, the division and subdivision by wicked men at the final destruction of Jerusalem. See some, also, in the apostles' days--"false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ, 2 Cor 11:13; some, also, "who subverted whole houses, teaching things they ought not for filthy lucre's sake," Titus 1:11; others, who crept into houses, leading captive silly women laden with divers lusts; some, teaching the doctrines and commandments of men, bringing in damnable heresies, and denying the Lord that bought them. And from that day unto this, in every age, and in every church, division, wounds, and putrefying sores, have been experienced through false, wicked, and designing professors.

3rd. The church has been punished by the kings and rulers of this world. There was a season, in the days of David and Solomon, and after her deliverance from Egyptian bondage under Moses and Joshua, and so on down to the days of Manasseh, when the church, the people of God, were governed by their own rulers and laws in a great measure. But since the days of Manasseh not a moment has she enjoyed of respite, but has been scattered among the kingdoms of the world, as Jeremiah the prophet has prophesied she would. Jer. 15;4, "And I will cause them to be removed into all kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh, the son of Hezekiah, king of Judah, for that which he did in Jerusalem." Here began the "scattering of the power of the holy people," and when seven times shall be accomplished, then all "these things" shall be finished; that is, the church will then have passed the ordeal of trial and chastisement. "Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err, and to do worse than the heathen." "Wherefore the Lord brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, which took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon. And when he was in affliction, he besought the Lord his God, and humbled himself greatly before the god of his fathers," 2 Chron. 33:9-12.

We learn in this passage the cause and effect. The cause of their captivity was their errors and wicked conduct. The effect was their captivity to the kings of Babylon, and their humility in their affliction. And although Manasseh was restored to his kingdom again after his humiliation, yet the children of Judah and Jerusalem were never free from the Babylonish yoke again while the kingdom of Babylon stood, but had to pay them tribute until the Medes and Persians conquered Babylon, which was about one hundred and forty years after the first captivity in Babylon of Judah and Jerusalem. Then the Medes and Persians reigned over the Jews, and made them pay tribute, and put a yoke of bondage upon them, until Alexander the Grecian conquered them, about two hundred and two years afterwards; when the Grecians became the masters of Judea, and continued the yoke of bondage, carrying away into captivity many of the principal citizens of Jerusalem, and obliging them to pay tribute, and their young men to serve as soldiers in their armies; destroying their riches, defiling their sanctuary, and compelling them to worship their gods,and sacrifice to their idols. This government lasted one hundred and seventy-seven years, when the Romans made the Grecian general Bacchides withdraw his army from Jerusalem, and never trouble the Jews any more, as Maccabees tells us in his first book, 8:31,32; also, 9:1,72,73. This was one hundred and fifty-eight years before Christ; the Babylonians, Medes and Persians, and Grecians, having each in their turn ruled over and led into captivity, robbed and spoiled the children of Judah and Jerusalem, and scattered them among all the nations of the earth, as Moses and all the prophets had foretold; in all, from the captivity of Manasseh, five hundred and nineteen years.

No man can read this prophecy, from which our text is taken, and the other prophets who have spoken of these things, and understand them literally, and then read the history of the world, and compare them together carefully, and let reason decide, and be an infidel. It would be impossible. The devil knows this; and, therefore, he uses all the art he is master of to prevent those whom he wishes to destroy from reading the prophecies. He tells them they are dark and intricate. And if this argument succeeds it is well; he is sure of his prey. But if they reason on the subject, and say, "If God has revealed himself by the prophets, it must be for our good; and if God is wise, as all agree he is, if there is a God, then it must be in the best possible manner for man to understand. I will examine and see." He then tells them it is presumption to look into futurity. "If you succeed in discovering the things to come, it will only make you miserable." Should this temptation prevent you from reading and trying to understand, still he is sure of his prey. You "will not be reformed by these things." But suppose you let reason work, and think, "If God is speaking by his prophets to us, surely it would be sin not to hear; for he has a legal right to our ears and attention; and only if our equal speaks to us, on any good or interesting subject, it is a piece of ill manners not to listen. I will read and hear what God says by the mouth of his servants." Then the devil will tell you that it is a sealed book,--not to be understood until it is fulfilled. But reason will tell you, What God has given for our faith and hope cannot be sealed in this sense; for it would all be lost labor in the prophets of God, and perfect folly in the Giver; for the history itself would reveal it as soon and as well as the prophecy could. And, in that case, says reason, faith and hope would have no food; for, without prophecy, neither the one nor the other could be exercised; for in what we know, how can it be said we have faith? or, in what is past, how can it be said we hope for it? Then, if these temptations do not prevent you from reading and trying to understand the prophecies, Satan has one more weapon, and it is his last resort. "But," says the arch enemy, if you are but prepared for happiness or heaven, it is no matter whether you understand prophecy or not." This secures and chains down the hypocrite and Pharisee forever; this is turning things upside down at once. For there never were hypocrites or Pharisees but what vainly imagined that they were, of all men, best prepared for heaven; and so they will neither try their faith, nor examine their hope, if they follow this temptation, until they awake in eternity, forever too late. While, on the other hand, there never were real children of God, but what considered themselves unfit for heaven, the vilest of the vile; and if they should take up with this device of Satan, they must finally end in despair; for they could gain no additional evidence of their faith or hope,only by a diligent study of God's prophetic word. So that I can boldly say, that reason itself would teach us that we ought to apply ourselves diligently and faithfully to try our faith by every word of God, and examine our hope in every possible way in searching deep into the revealed truths, whether promises or prophecies, that the day of vengeance may not overtake us unawares.

But not only the church under the Jewish dispensation must pass thorough her scenes of tribulation, but so, also, must he church under the gospel; for John saw not only the elect Jews in his vision of the glorified state, but also a great number, which no man could number, from among all nations and languages under heaven," who had come through great tribulation, and who had washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb." And, again, it is also evident that, like the Jews, they must suffer persecution from the kings and rulers of the earth, and from spiritual wickedness in high places. For John "saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army," Rev. 19:19. And Daniel saw the same beast, "make war with the saints, and prevailed over them until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the Most High; and the time came that the saints' possessed the kingdom. Thus he said, "The fourth beast is the fourth kingdom upon earth," Dan. 7:21-23, meaning the Roman kingdom.

We must also notice that, like the Jews, they must be scattered among all the nations of the earth; for here they are to have no continuing city, for they seek one which is to come, whose Builder and Maker is God," Hebrews 11:10; that is, the New Jerusalem, which cometh down from God out of heaven. The proof I bring you that the church among the Gentiles were like the Jews, you will find in the prophecy of the high priest, when our Savior was crucified, John 11:52, "And not for that nation only, (that is, the Jews,) but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad." Also it is said, Mark 14:27, "smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered." And when Christ comes to judge the saints, at the resurrection of the just, he sends his angels into the uttermost parts of the earth, and under the uttermost part of heaven, and gathers together his elect, who have been scattered by the kings and beasts of the earth during the dark and cloudy day of persecution, form his crucifixion to his second coming.

And if, in view of all that Christ, the prophets, and apostles, have said in relation to this subject, there is one doubt remaining on your mind as to the truth of these remarks, I beg of you to read but the past history of the church, and you cannot but acknowledge, that, thus far, it has been literally fulfilled. How soon after the Romans had crucified the Lord of glory, did they attack his church; and for nearly three hundred years the apostles and eminent servants of Christ suffered all the horrors of persecution by the authority of the Roman emperors and kings of the earth. They suffered in all manner of ways which the prophets had foretold they would--by the sword, by wild beasts, by flame, by captivity and by spoil. This was almost constantly until the days of Constantine, who for a little season put a stop to these bloody scenes; but it was but short; for in the days of Julian the Apostate, it was renewed, and continued until the barbarians of the north overran Italy, and conquered the Roman empire. Then the church suffered the same trials under her new masters, the ten kings, until they were converted to the Christian faith, when she enjoyed another respite of about thirty years after the downfall of Paganism, and before the rise of Papacy, between the years A. D. 508 and 538. But now arose the little horn, (Papacy,) which was to make war against the saints, and prevail over them until the Ancient of days should come, and the judgment should sit. This little horn was to rule over the kings of the earth, a time, times, and a half, or 1260 years; all which has been accomplished to the letter.

3. I shall now show what is meant by "seven times," in the text.

1st. "Seven times," in Nebuchadnezzar's dream, was fulfilled in seven years. Nebuchadnezzar,for his pride and arrogancy against God, was driven among the beasts of the field, and was made to eat grass as oxen, until seven times passed over him, and until he learned that the Most High ruled in the kingdoms of men, and gave it to whomsoever he would. This being a matter of history, and as an allegory or sample to the people of God for their pride and arrogancy, in refusing to be reformed by God, and claiming the power and will to do these things themselves, --they, too, like Nebuchadnezzar, must be driven among the beasts of the field, (meaning the kingdoms of the world,) until they learn the sovereignty of God, and that he dispenses his favors to whomsoever he will. That, being a matter of history, and a sample only, was fulfilled in seven years; but this, being a prophecy, will only be fulfilled in seven prophetic times, which will be 7 times 360 years, which will make 2520 years; for one half of 7 times, that is, 3 times and a half, is called, in Rev. 12:6, 1260 days, (fulfilled in so many years.) See also Rev. 12:14; 13:5. Forty-two months is the one half of 2520, for twice 1260 is 2520. Therefore the sum and substance of the whole is, that the people of God would be among the beasts, or kings of the earth, seven times, which is 2520 years, one half of which time they would be among be under literal Babylon, which means the ruling kings of the earth, viz. 1260 years; and the other half under mystical Babylon, the mother of harlots, the abomination of the whole earth, 1260 years; making in all 2520 years. Therefore seven times would the people of God be punished for their sins, to fill up the measure of the sufferings of Christ, before they would be delivered from all their enemies, and come into possession of the glorified kingdom which was prepared for them from the foundation of earth. And Ezekiel alludes to the same "seven times," Eze. 39:9,10,"And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, Jerem. 15:1-3, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, Jer. 5:14, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years; so that they shall take no wood out of the field, nor cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire; and they shall spoil those that spoiled them, and rob those that robbed them, saith the Lord God." Ezekiel here gives us to understand that, by means of the people of God being driven out of their cities, and by the word of God, they would be enabled to destroy or be destroying their enemies, and to spoil those who had been spoiling them, and rob those who had robbed them; and this, too, would take seven years, or 2520 days; and, Ezekiel being commanded to reckon each day for a year, 4:4-6, then it would be 2520 years.

The proper question would now be, "When did those years begin?" I answer, They must have begun with the first captivity of the tribe of Judah, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, in Babylon; for all the prophets agree in this thing, that Babylon would be the kingdom which would carry the Jews into captivity. See Jeremiah 15:4. "And I will cause them to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh, the son of Hezekiah king of Judah, for that which he did in Jerusalem." Also let those who wish to read more on this subject, read Jeremiah, chapter 21st to the 29th, inclusive; and the prophecy of Ezekiel, from the beginning of the 1st chapter to the end of the 39th chapter; also the chapter in which is our text;--and we cannot for a moment doubt but that Babylon is the nation which was to make desolate Judah and Jerusalem.

Then, if Babylon was the nation which was to scatter the people of God, and this, too, in the days of Manasseh, I ask, When was this captivity? I answer, In the year 677 before Christ; see 2 Chron. 33:9-13; see also the Bible chronology of that event; this being the first captivity of Judah in Babylon. Then take 677 years, which were before Christ, from 2520 years, which includes the whole "seven times," or "seven years," prophetic, and the remainder will be 1843 after Christ; showing that the people of God will be gathered from among all nations, and the kingdom and greatness of the kingdom will be given to the saints of the Most High; mystical Babylon will be destroyed by the brightness of his coming; and sin, and suffering for sin, will be finished to those who look for his coming. "And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation; and not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad," John 11:51,52

Yes, dear hearer, to them that look for his appearing, Christ will come the second time without sin unto salvation. "And can it be possible," says the dear child of God, "that that day is so near as 1843? it is too good news for me to believe. Yet the evidence is very strong; it seems clear. I really believe I shall watch for it with a good deal of anxiety. And if it should not come, I shall, I feel now, be somewhat disappointed." Yes, I am satisfied, this is the language of every Christian heart.

"But," says another, "it is all visionary. I do not believe it. And if I had any idea that it would be so, I could not take another moment's comfort of my life. What, the judgment day within seven years? I cannot bear the thought? I will drive such thoughts from my mind. To you, whoever you are, whether professor or non-professor, who in your heart think such thoughts as these, I have one word to say. Your standing is desperate indeed. I am bold to tell you, you love not Jesus. Every moment, then, you delay coming to God through Jesus Christ, may be big with eternal consequences, even as the day of judgment, for aught you or I can tell. For instance, this may be the last moment the Holy Spirit will ever strive; it may be the last moment of reason; it may be the last moment of life; it may be the last moment of time; and you unprepared! O God, reform these blinded souls, "Who will not be reformed by thee, nor by these things," or everlasting punishment will be their doom.

The Bride of Christ is the office of the Holy Spirit. Christ works out of His Bride, His People on earth. They consummate the marriage in the Bridal Chamber (the Most Holy Place in the Heavenly Sanctuary in the Third Heaven). They, the Spirit (Bridegroom) and the Bride then have Spiritual children because of their consummation of truth in the Bridal chamber in our minds! What are the chambers?

For more study about the coming Judgment that started Oct 22, 1844, about a man, Joseph Wolff, who believed as William Miller about the coming of Christ to the Most Holy Place, in His 144,000, picking a Bride for His Son for eternity from among the house of the harem (see Esther Chapter 1, 2 and 3) of VIRGINS, the Ten Virgins, 5 wise and 5 foolish, to be the Judgment, the Investigative Judgment, the picking of a Bride (144,000) from among His commandment keeping and faith of Jesus keeping people (Three Angel's messages - the THIRD Angel's Sabbath keeping people), see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Wolff and listen to this sermon or talk by Alex Ortega here. <<< Be sure not to miss the sermon/talk.

"When the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come." Christ is waiting with longing desire for the manifestation of Himself in His church (144,000). When the character of Christ shall be perfectly reproduced in His people (144,000=little flock, little company, few are chosen), then He will come to claim them as His own.

It is the privilege of every Christian not only to look for but to hasten the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, (2 Peter 3:12, margin). Were all who profess His name bearing fruit to His glory, how quickly the whole world would be sown with the seed of the gospel. Quickly the last great harvest would be ripened, and Christ would come to gather the precious grain" COL 69.

The great last harvest is ripened by the Three Angel's Messages (Rev 14:6-12 and the fourth Angel's Message (Rev 18:4) which began in 1888 with the loud cry to depart from the SDA churches at that time because of their apostasy from truth. The Last great Supper of the Lamb, has been prepared by Christ Himself, the banquet feast, the wedding feast for the Bride and their GUESTS. The great hall is filled with guests that have been invited by the Spirit and the Bride to Come and partake of the Three Angel's Messages special points of faith, doctrines of Christ...these are the bowls of food upon the banquet table that all partake of in these last days to protect them from the 7 last plagues.

Whose Cases are Considered to be a part of the 144,000, to become a BRIDE OF CHRIST?

In the typical service only those who had come before God with confession and repentance, and whose sins, through the blood of the sin offering, were transferred to the sanctuary, had a part in the service of the Day of Atonement. So in the great day of final atonement and investigative judgment the only cases considered are those of the professed people of God. The judgment of the wicked is a distinct and separate work, and takes place at a later period. “Judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel?” 1 Peter 4:17. CIHS 116.2

William Miller will be in Heaven but he will NOT be one of the 144,000; BECAUSE he did not accept the 7th day Sabbath message. But He will be in Heaven. He had endured great ridicule and suffering for the cause of God already before the Sabbath message had become more prominent in 1846. His fellow colleagues encouraged him NOT to accept the Sabbath message, which is the Third Angel's message, and they will bear the blame for his not accepting the Sabbath. This was before the 1846 timeframe as I understand it, just as the Third Angel's Message (Rev 14:9-12) went into effect, or the Third Angel's message started becoming more prominent in knowledge and understanding among the early Protestant SDA pioneers. See the facimile original of the Present Truth article here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2Ff6LGwUlCSdF8zR1Yxd2xkTTQ/view?usp=sharing

So those who live in or die under the Third Angel's Message will be one of the 144,000 if they die keeping the 7th day Sabbath. The Third Angel's message closes at the close of probation for the world, when Jesus stands up and says it is finished. We are at the close of the Third Angel's Message. When Turkey succeeds from the European Union, then we who are watching and waiting for the 2nd Advent of Christ will know that in His work as a mediator in the Most Holy Place in the Heavenly Sanctuary, He has ended His work and has stood up and said IT IS FINISHED. He then steps onto the clouds, which is the 144,000, His chariot, after donning His robes of vengeance, and they bear Him to the ancient of days.

This is what Jesus has shown me, yesterday early am (4-18-17) that the 7 churches (symblized by the 7 female maidens, servants represent the 7 churches given to the 144,000 to learn from their special character traits that need to be kept, or fixed in their characters) (Philadelphia era 1798 to 1844), Laodicea, Present time, from 1845-Probation closes upon the house of God, the SDA church movement), Sardis, etc... these are the 7 female servants, helpers, so we can see the characteristics of the Bride of Christ that she needs to have or what to get rid of during the Third Angel's Message era. The life of Queen Esther represents the life of the 144,000. The life of Sarah, Abraham's wife represents the life of the 144,000 as well. So does the life of Moses, Job, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abindigo, David, Solomon, Noah, Joshua, Jonah, Daniel and others represent the life of the 144,000.

William Miller is surprisingly vindicated because Christ was coming Oct 22, 1844..."at the close of His work as a mediator." to live inside of His Bride, the 144,000, these are chosen from among His people, those who "Keep the Commandments of God and the Faith of Jesus" and have the Three Angel's messages special points of doctrine or old protestant SDA early pioneers beliefs lived out in their daily little choices and taught by them to others in a loud voice, the loud cry started in 1888 to come OUT of the SDA churches because they had rejected the warning in 1888, to become like Christ, by Jones and Waggner, and to not to become like the Roman Catholic church in it's structure as a hierarchical system of operation...because they had rejected the Righteousness of Christ and chose to follow the men or leaders in that day in 1888, instead of heeding the Prophetess Ellen White's warning.

Those who become the 144,000 are those who live and give the Third Angel's message during it's era, from 1845 to the close of probation for the world, when Christ stands up and says it is finished. Probation closes for the House of God at the enforcement of the Sunday Law. The International Sunday law went into effect on Nov 4, 2016 by the United Nations via the Paris Agreement which incorporated Jesuit Pope's Encyclical. Learn more here.

The Great Controversy 1888, p. 479.3 (Ellen G. White): "And, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought Him near before Him. And there was given Him [480] dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve Him: His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away." Daniel 7:13, 14. The coming of Christ here described is not His second coming to the earth. He comes to the Ancient of Days in heaven to receive dominion and glory and a kingdom, which will be given Him at the close of His work as a mediator. It is this coming, and not His second advent to the earth, that was foretold in prophecy to take place at the termination of the 2300 days in 1844. Attended by heavenly angels, our great High Priest enters the holy of holies and there appears in the presence of God to engage in the last acts of His ministration in behalf of man—to perform the work of investigative judgment [to pick a Bride for His Son for eternity - the 144,000] and to make an atonement for all who are shown to be entitled to its benefits" Read more here: http://www.ellenwhite.info/books/ellen-g-white-book-great-controversy-gc-28.htm

Learn more about the 144,000 that are to become the Church Triumphant, the little company, the little flock here. Learn more about this significance of the Sabbath here.

Most Adventists will not become one of the 144,000 because the SDA church today has rejected the Investigative Judgment doctrine message aka the Sanctuary message. This started Oct 22, 1844 when Jesus moved into the Most Holy Place to officiate as our High Priest putting His own blood on the altar for those who repent and follow Him there into the Most Holy Place in the Heavenly Sanctuary in the Third Heaven by FAITH! This is the marriage of the Lamb between His Bride and Himself, it is the Bridal Chamber where Christ consummates the marriage, receives His Kingdom, aka His Bride. It is the consummation of truth, of the Three Angel's message, the special points of doctrine in the three Angel's messages that are incorporated into His Bride's everyday little choices that is the consummation of Christ, our only Husband with His Special people, the 144,000...the LITTLE flock, the CHOSEN FEW, the little company that follow Him whereever He leads them (Rev 14:4). To reject one of the GEMS in the casket that were scattered about the room in the dirt in William Millers dream (below) is to reject Jesus Christ. Jesus is the man with the dirt brush and He is bringing these special points of faith (old early pioneer Protestant SDA landmarks, old SDA beliefs and putting them even more beautifully into His people's everyday life choices! Jesus is AMAZING! So, those who REJECT the INVESTIGATIVE JUDGMENT are rejecting becoming one of the Bride of Christ, rejecting to become one of the 144,000! Rejecting to come into the Bridal Chamber of a ROYAL KING who has invited them to become His wife for eternity!!! Rejected becoming the Bride of a Royal King, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords! See this video for more info how this REJECTION of Christ by the SDA church happened in more detail here by Bill Hughes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdpRNMT7cxg (now Bill Hughes - I don't know if he accepts the old early sda Protestant pioneer landmark doctrines or not - so I am not endorsing HIM, just this one video...he does say one thing on this video that I do not agree with about the trinity doctrine, but I don't think most people would catch it. But the rest of his message, besides his one comment about the Catholic trinity doctrine, is spot on).

William Miller:

Born: February 15, 1782, Pittsfield, MA

Died: December 20, 1849, Hampton, NY

"Angels watch the precious dust of this servant of God, and he will come forth at the sound of the last trump"Ellen G. White, EW 258.2.

June 3, 1890. "We have only the glimmerings of the rays of the light that is yet to come to us." 1SM 401. The cleaning up process is taking a long time (restoring the early 1830-1846 SDA pioneer doctrines/firm foundation/landmarks from 1830-1894), but, in the end, William Miller's dream will come true. The church will be purified, false doctrines will be removed, and William Miller will be surprisingly vindicated".

"Those who are engaged in proclaiming the third angel’s message are searching the Scriptures upon the same plan that Father Miller adopted. In the little book entitled “Views of the Prophecies and Prophetic Chronology,” Father Miller gives the following simple but intelligent and important rules for Bible study and interpretation" – {RH November 25, 1884 Par. 23. Learn more about how the Pioneers studied vs how Advenists study the Bible today here.

"The student of the Bible should be taught to approach it in the spirit of a learner. We are to search its pages, not for proof to sustain our opinions, but in order to know what God says" Education, p. 189.1 (Ellen G. White).

A true knowledge of the Bible can be gained only through the aid of that Spirit by whom the word was given. And in order to gain this knowledge we must live by it. All that God's word commands, we are to obey. All that it promises, we may claim. The life which it enjoins is the life that, through its power, we are to live. Only as the Bible is thus held can it be studied effectively. Ed 189.2 (Ellen G. White).

The study of the Bible demands our most diligent effort and persevering thought. As the miner digs for the golden treasure in the earth, so earnestly, persistently, must we seek for the treasure of God's word" Ed 189.3 (Ellen G. White).

In daily study the verse-by-verse method is often most helpful. Let the student take one verse, and concentrate the mind on ascertaining the thought that God has put into that verse for him, and then dwell upon the thought until it becomes his own. One passage thus studied until its significance is clear is of more value than the perusal of many chapters with no definite purpose in view and no positive instruction gained" Ed 189.4 (Ellen G. White).

"One of the chief causes of mental inefficiency and moral weakness is the lack of concentration for worthy ends. We pride ourselves on the wide distribution of literature; but the multiplication of books, even books that in themselves are not harmful, may be a positive evil. With the immense tide of printed matter constantly pouring from the press, old and young form the habit of reading hastily and superficially, and the mind loses its power of connected and vigorous thought. Furthermore, a large share of the periodicals and books that, like the frogs of Egypt, are overspreading the land, are not merely commonplace, idle, and enervating, but unclean and degrading. Their effect is not merely to intoxicate and ruin the mind, but to corrupt and destroy the soul. The mind, the heart, that is indolent, aimless, falls an easy prey to evil. It is on diseased, lifeless organisms that fungus roots. It is the idle mind that is Satan's workshop. Let the mind be directed to high and holy ideals, let the life have a noble aim, an absorbing purpose, and evil finds little foothold" Ed 189.5.

Let the youth, then, be taught to give close study to the word of God. Received into the soul, it will prove a mighty barricade against temptation. “Thy word,” the psalmist declares, “have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee.” “By the word of Thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.” Psalm 119:11; 17:4. Ed 190.1 (Ellen G. White).

"The Bible is its own expositor. Scripture is to be compared with scripture. The student should learn to view the word as a whole, and to see the relation of its parts. He should gain a knowledge of its grand central theme, of God's original purpose for the world, of the rise of the great controversy, and of the work of redemption. He should understand the nature of the two principles that are contending for supremacy, and should learn to trace their working through the records of history and prophecy, to the great consummation. He should see how this controversy enters into every phase of human experience; how in every act of life he himself reveals the one or the other of the two antagonistic motives; and how, whether he will or not, he is even now deciding upon which side of the controversy he will be found" Ed 190.2 (Ellen G. White).

The Word of God is our Ruler “I recommend to you, dear reader, the Word of God as the rule of your faith and practice. By that Word we are to be judged. God has, in that Word, promised to give visions in the "last days"; not for a new rule of faith, but for the comfort of His people, and to correct those who err from Bible truth. (Acts 10.) {EW 78.1}” “I recommend to you, dear reader, the Word of God as the rule of your faith and practice. By that Word we are to be judged. God has, in that Word, promised to give visions in the "last days"; not for a new rule of faith, but for the comfort of His people, and to correct those who err from Bible truth. (Acts 10.) {EW 78.1}”

The Holy Scriptures are the Standard “In His word, God has committed to men the knowledge necessary for salvation. The Holy Scriptures are to be accepted as an authoritative, infallible revelation of His will. They are the standard of character, the revealer of doctrines, and the test of experience. "Every scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness; that the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16, 17, R.V. {GC vii.1}” “In His word, God has committed to men the knowledge necessary for salvation. The Holy Scriptures are to be accepted as an authoritative, infallible revelation of His will. They are the standard of character, the revealer of doctrines, and the test of experience. See these very important rules our great scholar Elder Willam Miller used to study the Bible below...but first read this:

WE ARE NEARING HOME!

Just over the mountains in the Promised Land,

Lies the Holy City built by God's own hand;

As our weary footsteps gain the mountain's crest,

We can view our homeland of eternal rest.

CHORUS:

We are nearing home! We are nearing home!

See the splendor gleaming from the domes afar!

See the glory streaming thro' the gates ajar!

There we soon will enter, never more to roam,

Hear the angels singing! We are nearing home!

We are nearing home!

(No. 142 in Singing Youth; no. 642 in The Church Hymnal, where the hymn is titled "Just Over the Mountains.")

Though I still often say regarding long-range plans, "Let's do such and such—'if Jesus hasn't come by then,'" or "'if we are still here,'" yet as I have grown older I also have adopted some of William Miller's thinking as my own. One of his most famous statements, written shortly after the great disappointment of October 22, 1844, was,

Recently, a quotation from a letter that Miller wrote to a friend a few months earlier, after the spring disappointment in 1844, also has influenced my thinking about the nearness of Christ's return. It's in addition to my realization that I should be living each day as though it were my last. Let me give you the setting for this statement from Miller. Were you to go back in time and read any of the newspapers leading up to the spring expectation of Christ's return (and, I might add, the same is true leading up to the October 22 date), you will find the newspapers full of ridicule, not only for Millerites in general, but in particular for William Miller himself. He was the object of scorn in newspapers, both in editorials and the scurrilous stories printed about him and his followers. He was the butt of jokes told throughout the land. He was the object of verbal attacks from the popular pulpits of the day. In short, if anyone humanly speaking ever had a right to be angry with God because Jesus didn't return as expected, it would be William Miller. But listen to what he wrote to Elon Galusha on April 5, 1844, just a few weeks after the March 21 date that Miller first thought would be the end of the 2300-year prophecy of Daniel 8:14. After acknowledging all the abuse being heaped upon him, and telling his friend not to worry about him, Miller then described why Galusha shouldn't worry about him. He wrote,

It's as if Miller is saying, "Let them print cartoons about me in the newspapers; let them ridicule me in their editorials; let them tell jokes about me; let them attack me verbally from a thousand pulpits—what's all that to me if even one more sinner for whom Christ died can be saved?" For me today, yes, I still believe with all my heart that Jesus will return soon. But if He chooses not to come during my lifetime because He wants to save a few more of those for whom He died, what's it to me! Like Miller, I believe that Jesus will do all things right. As I was growing up, it seems to me that we used to sing about the second coming a lot more than we do now. Back then, no hymn could stir an Adventist audience quite like "Lift Up the Trumpet." When someone like Brad Braley at a General Conference session, Youth Congress, or camp meeting would strike the first chord on the large organ, the congregation in unison would fill the hall with the glad anthem. The excitement seemed literally to make the rafters vibrate!

LIFT UP THE TRUMPET

Lift up the trumpet, and loud let it ring:

Jesus is coming again!

Cheer up, ye pilgrims, be joyful and sing;

Jesus is coming again!

REFRAIN:

Coming again, Coming again,

Jesus is coming again!

(No. 40 in Happy Songs for Boys and Girls; no. 141 in Singing Youth; no. 541 in The Church Hymnal; and no. 213 in the Seventh-day Adventist Hymnal.)

Does my heart still thrill with excitement at the thought that Jesus is coming soon? Indeed it does!

WILLIAM MILLER'S DREAM

(Quoted in Early Writings P. 81 by Ellen G. White)

I dreamed that God, by an unseen hand, sent me a curiously wrought casket about ten inches long by six square, made of ebony and pearls curiously inlaid. To the casket there was a key attached. I immediately took the key and opened the casket, when, to my wonder and surprise, I found it filled with all sorts and sizes of jewels, diamonds, precious stones, and gold and silver coin of every dimension and value, beautifully arranged in their several places in the casket; and thus arranged they reflected a light and glory equaled only to the sun.

I thought it was not my duty to enjoy this wonderful sight alone, although my heart was overjoyed at the brilliancy, beauty, and value of its contents. I therefore placed it on a center table in my room and gave out word that all who had a desire might come and see the most glorious and brilliant sight ever seen by man in this life.

The people began to come in, at first few in number, but increasing to a crowd. When they first looked into the casket, they would wonder and shout for joy. But when the spectators increased, everyone would begin to trouble the jewels, taking them out of the casket and scattering them on the table.

I began to think that the owner would require the casket and the jewels again at my hand; and if I suffered them to be scattered, I could never place them in their places in the casket again as before; and felt I should never be able to meet the accountability, for it would be immense. I then began to plead with the people not to handle them, nor to take them out of the casket; but the more I pleaded, the more they scattered; and now they seemed to scatter them all over the room, on the floor and on every piece of furniture in the room.

I then saw that among the genuine jewels and coin they had scattered an innumerable quantity of spurious jewels and counterfeit coin. I was highly incensed at their base conduct and ingratitude, and reproved and reproached them for it; but the more I reproved, the more they scattered the spurious jewels and false coin among the genuine.

I then became vexed in my physical soul and began to use physical force to push them out of the room; but while I was pushing out one, three more would enter and bring in dirt and shavings and sand and all manner of rubbish, until they covered every one of the true jewels, diamonds, and coins, which were all excluded from sight. They also tore in pieces my casket and scattered it among the rubbish. I thought no man regarded my sorrow or my anger. I became wholly discouraged and disheartened, and sat down and wept.

While I was thus weeping and mourning for my great loss and accountability, I remembered God, and earnestly prayed that He would send me help.

Immediately the door opened, and a man entered the room, when the people all left it; and he, having a dirt brush in his hand, opened the windows, and began to brush the dirt and rubbish from the room.

I cried to him to forbear, for there were some precious jewels scattered among the rubbish.

He told me to "fear not," for he would "take care of them."

Then, while he brushed the dirt and rubbish, false jewels and counterfeit coin, all rose and went out of the window like a cloud, and the wind carried them away. In the bustle I closed my eyes for a moment; when I opened them, the rubbish was all gone. The precious jewels, the diamonds, the gold and silver coins, lay scattered in profusion all over the room.

He then placed on the table a casket, much larger and more beautiful than the former, and gathered up the jewels, the diamonds, the coins, by the handful, and cast them into the casket, till not one was left, although some of the diamonds were not bigger than the point of a pin.

He then called upon me to "come and see."

I looked into the casket, but my eyes were dazzled with the sight. They shone with ten times their former glory. I thought they had been scoured in the sand by the feet of those wicked persons who had scattered and trod them in the dust. They were arranged in beautiful order in the casket, every one in its place, without any visible pains of the man who cast them in. I shouted with very joy, and that shout awoke me. Early Writings, pp. 81-83.

THE INTERPRETATION THEREOF

EW 229. "God sent His angel to move upon the heart of a farmer who had not believed the Bible, to lead him to search the prophecies. Angels of God repeatedly visited that chosen one, to guide his mind and open to his understanding prophecies which had ever been dark to God’s people. The commencement of the chain of truth was given to him, and he was led on to search for link after link, until he looked with wonder and admiration upon the Word of God. He saw there a perfect chain of truth. That Word which he had regarded as uninspired now opened before his vision in its beauty and glory. ... He regarded the sacred Word of God with joy and with the deepest respect and awe.

"As he followed down the prophecies, he saw that the inhabitants of the earth were living in the closing scenes of this world’s history, yet they knew it not. He looked at the churches and saw that they were corrupt; they had taken their affections from Jesus and placed them on the world; they were seeking for worldly honor, instead of that honor which cometh from above; grasping for worldly riches, instead of laying up their treasure in heaven. He could see hypocrisy, darkness, and death everywhere. His spirit was stirred within him. God called him to leave his farm, as He called Elisha to leave his oxen and the field of his labor to follow Elijah. With trembling, William Miller began to unfold to the people the mysteries of the kingdom of God, carrying his hearers down through the prophecies to the second advent of Christ."

1849. William Miller died worn out from hard work in the Masters cause seeing no clear answer as to why Jesus had not come. EW 257.

January 1850. "I saw that some of the people of God are stupid and dormant and but half awake; they do not realize the time we are now living in, and that the man with the `dirt brush' has entered, and that some are in danger of being swept away." EW 48. ... "The mighty shaking has commenced and will go on."... EW 50; The Present Truth April 1, 1850 paragraph 9 (Ellen G. White).

The Home Missionary, September 1, 1894. "When we are called upon to differ with others, or others express their difference from our opinion, we should manifest a Christian spirit, and keep this fact prominent that we can afford to be quiet and fair; for the truth will bear investigation. The more it is studied, the more will its light shine forth. The Lord frowns upon everything that savors of harshness and severity, and puts his rebuke upon those who cast contempt and reproach upon those who differ with them in opinion, placing them in the worst possible light. All Heaven looks upon those who do this as Heaven looked upon the Pharisees, and pronounces them as ignorant both of the Scriptures and the power of God. The enemies of truth cannot make truth error. They may trample upon the truth, and think that because they have cast it down, and covered it with rubbish, it is overcome; but God will move upon some of his faithful ones to do as Christ did when he was upon earth, — brush away the rubbish, and restore the truth to its appropriate setting in the framework of truth."

CE 86.1. "The jewels of truth lie scattered over the field of revelation; but they have been buried beneath human traditions, beneath the sayings and commandments of men, and the wisdom from heaven has been practically ignored; for Satan has succeeded in making the world believe that the words and achievements of men are of great consequence. The Lord God, the Creator of the worlds, at infinite cost has given the gospel to the world. Through this divine agent, glad, refreshing springs of heavenly comfort and abiding consolation have been opened for those who will come to the fountain of life. There are veins of truth yet to be discovered; but spiritual things are spiritually discerned. Minds beclouded with evil cannot appreciate the value of the truth as it is in Jesus. When iniquity is cherished, men do not feel the necessity of making diligent effort, with prayer and reflection, to understand what they must know or lose heaven. The have so long been under the shadow of the enemy, that they view truth as men behold objects through a smoked and imperfect glass; for all things are dark and perverted in their eyes. Their spiritual vision is feeble and untrustworthy; for they look upon the shadow, and turn away from the light."

CT 421.2. "The Bible is a field where are concealed heavenly treasures, and they will remain hidden until, by diligent mining, they are discovered and brought to light. The Bible is a casket containing jewels of inestimable value, which should be so presented as to be seen in their intrinsic luster. But the beauty and excellence of these diamonds of truth are not discerned by the natural eye. The lovely things of the material world are not seen until the sun, dispelling the darkness, floods them with its light. And so with the treasures of God's word; they are not appreciated until they are revealed by the Sun of Righteousness."

June 3, 1890. "We have only the glimmerings of the rays of the light that is yet to come to us." 1SM 401.

The cleaning up process is taking a long time, but, in the end, William Miller's dream will come true. The church will be purified, false doctrines will be removed, and William Miller will be surprisingly vindicated.

EW 271. The shaking ends. The people of God are united. They move in exact order, like a company of soldiers. They are clothed with an armor from their head to their feet. Their armor is "the armor of light" (Ro 13:12,14).

EW 271-272. William Miller's "loud cry" will be repeated through his representatives. It is the most joyous event of the endtime remnant. "It is the latter rain, the refreshing from the presence of the Lord, the loud cry of the third angel." By it William Miller and all who sleep in Jesus are awakened. "Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet to Lord in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord." 1 Thess 4:16-17.

WILLIAM MLLER: PREPARING TO PREACH

by Paul A. Gordon

In his community, William Miller had been a leader of enemy forces to religion, up until the time of his startling conversion at age 34 in 1816. But this had not kept him from being respected by both those who agreed with him and those who did not. The transition from skepticism to faith included some months of church attendance, even though he continued to ridicule religion.

After his conversion, those who had once been his infidel friends were disappointed; but the fact that he had been on both sides of the struggle helped him to better know their strengths and weaknesses.

Soon after renouncing deism, he was asked how he knew there was a Saviour. He replied, "It is revealed in the Bible." "But how do you know the Bible is true?" they asked. He was at first perplexed as to how to respond. He thought that if the Bible is a revelation of God, it must be consistent with itself, and all its parts must harmonize and be adapted to the understanding of human beings. His response, therefore, was, "Give me time, and I will harmonize all these apparent contradictions to my own satisfaction, or I will be a deist still."

He then committed himself to a study of the Bible. Using only his Cruden's Concordance, he began his journey through Scripture. He speaks of his study this way:

I determined to lay aside all my prepossessions, to thoroughly compare scripture with scripture, and to pursue its study in a regular and methodical manner. I commenced with Genesis, and read verse by verse, proceeding no faster than the meaner of the several passages should be so unfolded as to leave me free from embarrassment respecting any mysticisms or contradictions. Whenever I found anything obscure, my practice was to compare it with all collateral passages; and, by the help of Cruden, I examined all the texts of Scripture in which were found any of the prominent words contained in any obscure portion. Then, by letting every word have its proper bearing on the subject of the text, if my view of it harmonized with every collateral passage in the Bible, it ceased to be a difficulty.

In this way I pursued the study of the Bible, in my first perusal of it, for about two years, and was fully satisfied that it is its own interpreter [in other words, the Bible explains itself]. I found that, by a comparison of Scripture with history, all the prophecies, as far as they had been fulfilled, had been fulfilled literally; that all the various figures, metaphors, parables, similitudes, etc., of the Bible, were either explained in their immediate connection, or the terms in which they were expressed were defined in other portions of the Word; and, when thus explained, are to be literally understood in accordance with such explanation. I was thus satisfied that the Bible is a system of revealed truths. (Life of Miller, pages 47, 48.)

Miller developed the following 14 rules of interpretation with a scripture proof for each rule. Wouldn't you agree that they are good rules?

Rules of interpretation:

1. Every word must have its proper bearing on the subject presented in the Bible.

2. All Scripture is necessary, and may be understood by a diligent application and study.

3. Nothing revealed in Scripture can or will be hid from those who ask in faith, not wavering.

4. To understand doctrine, bring all the Scriptures together on the subject you wish to know; then let every word have its proper influence; and, if you can form your theory without a contradiction, you cannot be in error.

5. Scripture must be its own expositor, since it is a rule of itself.

6. God has revealed things to come, by visions, in figures and parables.

7. Visions are always mentioned as such.

8. Figures always have a figurative meaning, and are used much in prophecy to represent future things, times, and events.

9. Parables are used as caparisons to illustrate subjects, and must be explained in the same way as figures, by the subject and Bible.

10. Figures sometimes have two or more different significations. The right construction will harmonize with the Bible, and make good sense; other constructions will not.

11. If a word makes good sense as it stands, and does no violence to the simple laws of nature, it is to be understood literally; if not, figuratively.

12. To learn the meaning of a figure, trace the word through your Bible, and when you find it explained, substitute the explanation for the word used; and, if it makes good sense, you need not look further; if not, look again.

13. To know whether we have the true historical event for the fulfillment of a prophecy: If you find every word of the prophecy is literally fulfilled, then you may know that your history is the true event.

14. The most important rule of all is, that you must have faith. (Life of Miller, pages 48-51.)

After careful search of the Scriptures for two years, William Miller speaks of his conclusions:

I was thus brought, in 1818, . . . to the solemn conclusion that in about twenty-five years from that time all the affairs of our present state would be wound up; that all its pride and power, pomp and vanity, wickedness and oppression, would come to an end; and that, in the place of the kingdoms of this world, the peaceful and long-desired kingdom of the Messiah would be established under the whole heaven. . . .

I need not speak of the joy that filled my heart in view of the delightful prospect, nor of the ardent longings of my soul for a participation in the joys of the redeemed. The Bible was now to me a new book. It was indeed a feast of reason; all that was dark, mystical or obscure, to me, in its teachings, had been dissipated from my mind before the clear light that now dawned from its sacred pages; and oh, how bright and glorious the truth appeared!

It would be 13 more years before Miller would publicly preach the second coming of Christ. In the meantime, he would serve in his community as justice of the peace, a respected citizen, husband, and father.

On May 7, 1987, several hundred documents were found that he prepared as a justice of the peace in Low Hampton. For more than 150 years these documents had been stored away in the upper attic of his home at Low Hampton, New York, only to be discovered on that date in an old barrel where they had safely rested for all those years.

But the story of William Miller is not his work as justice of the peace, important as that may have been to law and order in his community. For these 13 years he continued his study, resolving perplexities over difficult texts and continuing to have concern for the salvation of his family. He was getting a self-education in preaching for the future.

A conviction continued to grow that he had a personal duty to tell others what he found the Bible to teach of the nearness of Christ's second coming. He spoke of it this way:

When I was about my business, it was continually ringing in my ears, Go and tell the world of their danger. . . . I did all I could to avoid the conviction that anything was required of me; and I thought that by freely speaking of it to all, I should perform my duty, and that God would raise up the necessary instrumentality for the accomplishment of the work. I prayed that some minister might see the truth, and devote himself to its promulgation; but still it was impressed upon me, Go and tell it to the world; their blood will I require at thy hand.

As he continued to personally speak with others about his convictions, he gained quite a bit of celebrity in his denomination in that area. Still, he refused to preach in public. It was during this time that Miller's opinions became the topic of a great deal of comment among friends and neighbors, and even at some distance, and not all of the remarks were complimentary. Having heard that a physician in his neighborhood had said, "Esquire Miller . . . was a fine man and a good neighbor, but that was a monomaniac on the subject of the Advent," Mr. Miller decided to let him prescribe for his case.

One of Miller's children was sick one day, so he sent for the doctor, who, after prescribing for the child, noticed that Mr. Miller was very quiet in one corner. The doctor asked what ailed him. "Well, I hardly know, doctor. I want you to see what does, and prescribe for me." The doctor felt his pulse and could not decide respecting his malady, and inquired what he supposed was his complain.

"Well," said Mr. Miller, "I don't know, but I may be a monomaniac; and I want you to examine me and see if I am so, and if so, cure me. Can you tell when a man is a monomaniac?" The doctor blushed and said he thought he could. Mr. Miller wished to know how. "Why," said the doctor, "a monomaniac is rational in all subjects but one, and when you touch that particular subject, he will become raving."

"Well," said Mr. Miller, "I insist upon it that you see whether I am, in reality, a monomaniac; and if I am, you should prescribe for and cure me. You shall therefore sit down with me two hours while I present the subject of the Advent to you; and if I am a monomaniac, by that time you will discover it."

The doctor was somewhat disconcerted; but Mr. Miller insisted, and told him he might charge for his time as in regular practice.

The doctor finally consented; and, at Mr. Miller's request, opened the Bible and read from the eighth of Daniel. As he read along, Mr. Miller inquired what the animal symbols represented. The doctor applied them to Persia, Greece, and Rome, as Mr. Miller did.

Mr. Miller then inquired how long the vision of these empires was to be. "Twenty-three hundred days," the doctor replied.

"What!" said Mr. Miller, "could those great empires could only 2300 literal days?"

"Why," said the doctor, "those days are years, according to all commentators, and those kingdoms are to continue 2300 years."

Mr. Miller then asked him to turn to the second of Daniel, and to the seventh, all of which he explained the same as Mr. Miller. He was then asked if he knew when the 2300 days would end. He did not know, as he could not tell when they commenced.

Mr. Miller told him to read the ninth of Daniel. He read till he came to the 21st verse when Daniel saw the man, Gabriel, whom he had seen in a vision. "In what vision?" Mr. Miller inquired.

"Why," said the doctor, "in the vision of the eighth of Daniel. 'Therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.'"

"He had now come, then, to make him understand that vision, had he?"

"Yes," said the doctor.

"Well, 70 weeks are determined. What are those 70 weeks a part of?"

"Of the 2300 days."

"Then, do they begin with the 2300 days?"

"Yes," said the doctor.

"When did they end?"

"In A.D. 33."

"Then how far would the 2300 extend after 33?"

The doctor subtracted 490 from 2300, and replied, "1810."

"Why," said he, "that is past."

"But" said Mr. Miller, "there were 1810 from 33. In what year would that come?"

The doctor saw at once that the 33 should be added, and set down 33 and 1810; and, adding them, replied, "1843." At this unexpected result, the doctor settled back in his chair and blushed, but immediately took his hat and left the house in a rage.

The next day he again called on Mr. Miller and looked as though he had been in the greatest mental agony.

"Why, Mr. Miller," said he, "I am going to hell. I have not slept a wink since I was here yesterday. I have looked at the question in every light, and the vision must terminate in about A.D. 1843, and I am unprepared and must go to hell."

Mr. Miller calmed him and pointed him to the ark of safety; and in about a week, calling each day on Mr. Miller, he found peace to his soul and went on his way, rejoicing, as great a monomaniac as Mr. Miller. He afterward acknowledged that, till he made the figures 1843, he had no idea of the result to which he was coming. (Life of Miller, pages 76-78.)

"I saw that the charts ordered by God struck the mind favorably, even without an explanation. There is something light, lovely, and heavenly in the representation of the angels on the charts. The mind is almost imperceptibly led to God and heaven. {13MR 359.3} Ellen G. White, early SDA Protestant Pioneer:

" I saw that the truth should be made plain on tables, that the earth and the fullness thereof is the Lord's, and that necessary means should not be spared to make it plain. I saw that the angels' messages made plain, would have effect. I saw that the old chart was directed by the Lord, and that not a peg of it should be altered without inspiration. I saw that the figures on the chart were as God wanted them, and that His hand was over and hid a mistake in some of the figures so that none could see it until His hand was removed. {Unpublished Manuscript 15, 1850, similar to SpM 1.3}

I have seen that the 1843 chart was directed by the hand of the Lord, and that it should not be altered; that the figures were as He wanted them; that His hand was over and hid a mistake in some of the figures, so that none could see it, until His hand was removed.{EW 74.1}

I saw the people of God joyful in expectation, looking for their Lord. But God designed to prove them. His hand covered a mistake in the reckoning of the prophetic periods. Those who were looking for their Lord did not discover this mistake, and the most learned men who opposed the time also failed to see it. God designed that His people should meet with a disappointment. {EW 235.3}

. . .

Again they were led to their Bibles to search the prophetic periods. The hand of the Lord was removed from the figures, and the mistake was explained. They saw that the prophetic periods reached to 1844, and that the same evidence which they had presented to show that the prophetic periods closed in 1843, proved that they would terminate in 1844. {EW 236.1}

I saw that God was in the publishment of the chart by Brother Nichols. I saw that there was a prophecy of this chart in the Bible, and if this chart is designed for God's people, if it [is] sufficient for one it is for another, and if one needed a new chart painted on a larger scale, all need it just as much. {13MR 359.1}

God showed me the necessity of getting out a chart. I saw it was needed and that the truth made plain upon tables would affect much and would cause souls to come to the knowledge of the truth.--Letter 26, 1850, p. 1. (To Brother and Sister Loveland, November 1, 1850.) {5MR 202.4}

On our return to Brother Nichol's, the Lord gave me a vision and showed me that the truth must be made plain upon tables, and it would cause many to decide for the truth by the third angel's message with the two former being made plain upon tables. . . . {5MR 203.1}

Under “Knowledge Shall be Increased,” Winter asserts:

“In a late work of Dr. Jarvis’s (an acknowledged linguist), in opposition to our views, he gives the following correction of the English translation of Matt. xxiv, 36, ‘But of that day and hour maketh known, no man (instead of knoweth) no not the angels of heaven, but my father only.’ We have also consulted other unquestionable authorities, which confirm this criticism. This reading entirely alters the meaning of the passage, which has been the great weapon, offensive and defensive, of unbelievers. It is exactly opposite to the almost universal sentiment, that no one can ever know anything about the day or the hour, and unbelief which has been too long cherished, even by Adventists.” (August 14, 1844, Vol. II, p. 7.)

Then Winter continues on the same pages, 7-8, under the heading “The Seventh Month”:

“Since our devoted Bro. Snow has been with us, I have been led more seriously to consider the meaning of these shadows of things to come, and to understand that the body, or substance, is of Christ. When he was with his disciples, he taught them, that he came to fulfil the law, and that every jot and tittle must have its accomplishment. We find that the time and circumstances of his death, minutely correspond with the type of the paschal lamb, even unto the day, and the hour of the day, in which it was slain. If he accomplished such a definite fulfillment in his first Advent of the type before given, why should we doubt the conclusion that the types of the seventh month ‘CAN only have their fulfillment at his second coming?’ We have believed and fully expressed that the TIME is REVEALED, and that it is the duty of every one to search and understand, as the ancient prophets did. (See 1 Peter, i, 11.) We should therefore, submit to the leadings of the Father’s unerring providence and follow Christ and his truth, and not settle down in the error of our opponents, and say the exact time is sealed, the prophetic mine exhausted, and wisdom must die with us. No, truly, for God hath appointed a day, in which he will judge the world, and of that day and hour maketh known, none save the Father, and the wise shall understand. Let us, then, look not back into Egypt, but listen to the voice from the pillar of fire, which reproves our sadness, saying, ‘wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of the Advent, that they go forward.’

“What shall we say then, if God and his truth are with us, who shall prevail against them? If these shadows are of Christ, his body will soon appear. Let us then follow on to know the truth, and if the vision tarry from the first, until the seventh month, let us wait for it, knowing assuredly that at the end, it will speak and not lie.”

Then closing his chronology, Winter states:

“To fall of Papal Rome …………….. A. M. 5955, B. C. 1798

To fall of Mohammedan Power …. A. M. 5997, B. C. 1840

To the End ……………………….. A. M. 6000, B. C. 1843-4”

When, on the 14th of September, Miller and Hines arrived from Ohio, they were hailed by 50,000 Adventists with the cry “The Tenth Day of the Seventh Month!” Fields were left unharvested, businesses were closed, trade neglected, and properties and belongings given away. Influenced by Snow, thousands had left their churches and were now indeed left in Babylon! In vain did Miller and Himes protest against Snow’s definite date. During the last two weeks they also yielded, so that on the 12th of October, Miller wrote to Himes:

“I see a glory in the seventh month which I never saw before. Let Br. Snow, Br. Storrs, and others be blessed for their instrumentality in opening my eyes! Christ will come on the Seventh Month and bless us all. Oh, glorious hope!” (Days of Delusion, by Clara Sears, p. 164, ff.)

As Miller had never planned to create a new denomination, the 50,000 Adventists were, on the 22nd of October, 1844, just like the disciples were when Christ was crucified, heartbroken, dejected. The faithful few, however, never lost their faith, and inquiring of God, were granted fresh light as were the apostles of Christ. They realized that Christ's kingdom was not of this world, as they realized in 1844 that the Sanctuary was not being cleansed on earth, but in Heaven. The apostles of Christ were severely disappointed as were those precious waiting faithful few were disappointed and ate the bitter little book. See Revelation 10:1-11 about the The Bittersweet Book. Type meets anti-type: the disciples of Christ were mistaken and the

"Mr. Miller again repeated the call for "Anonymous" to stand up, if he was present. No one arose. Mr. Miller then read the question which closed the letter, namely--"Mr. Miller, how dare you assert your theory with so much confidence without a knowledge of the Hebrew and Greek languages?" To this Mr. Miller promptly replied, "If I am not acquainted with the HEBREW and GREEK, I know enough to quote the English texts of the Scriptures rightly." "Anonymous" never made himself known, and it was the impression of many of the audience that the author of the letter, if he was skilled in the Hebrew and Greek, was exceedingly deficient in his knowledge of the English Scriptures" William Miller Biography chapter 8.

early SDA pioneers were mistaken as to the EVENT taking place on Oct 22, 1844. The date is correct, it was just the EVENT that was not fully understood. They thought the Sanctuary was to be cleansed on earth, when instead it was the Sanctuary in Heaven. This means God's people, the 144,000, (the bride is not the guest of the wedding feast, which is the old landmarks of Adventism) are being investigated and cleansed from their sins by obedience to the truth, the law of God given to dwell in them by the Spirit of Christ indwelling those who come to Him at His invitation and surrender all to the authority and control of the Spirit of Christ. Romans 8:9. The bride (144,000) is being inspected by the God and Father of the Bridegroom. To see WHO lives the truth (old Adventist landmarks, pillars, firm foundation, the platform of eternal truth) the most prettily in their daily choices. Who surrenders the fullest to Christ's invitation to come and follow Him into the Most Holy Place in the Heavenly Sanctuary in the Third Heaven. This is the Bridal Chamber, the Chuppa, the Huppa of the Bride and Groom. By faith we are to follow Him into the Heavenly Sanctuary in the Third Heaven and present our petitions to Him which is really just repeating His Words, bringing Him in remembrance of what He has already promised. Christ came to give us His Father's WORDS. He spoke NOT His own words but the words of His Father to us. God's Word will not return unto Him void. We can trust in the powerful promises of God given to us in the Bible. Daily, for every problem and triumph we are to praise and thank God in the name of His Son. Claim powerful Bible verse promises to be made perfect per 2 Peter 1:4, Luke 15:21, James 3:2. Claim Deut 30:6 over your children. Zech 3:4. Luke 21:15, Jer 33:3. There are SO MANY wonderful Bible verse promises that we can go by faith into the Most Holy Place in the Heavenly Sanctuary in the Third Heaven and claim by faith!

Here's a website with a lot of them gathered up for you right here: https://sites.google.com/site/howtoperformmiracles

Christ is clearly seen as the groom. But who is the bride? Who are the wedding guests?

The glorious Holy City that is portrayed as the New Jerusalem tabernacle "coming down out of heaven" are the 144,000 chosen Bride of Christ, who keep the 7th day Sabbath, the Third Angel's message and has made herself ready for her Bridegroom. Those who give and live the Three Angel's Messages of Rev. 14:6-12 (the early SDA Protestant pioneers writings from 1830-1894), the City of Light, the City of Truth, the Elect of God, the church triumphant, "REMNANT" seed who come out of all the modern apostatized 501c3 SDA churches, who have adopted doctrines in common with the first and second beast. See Revelation 18:4 and Matthew 25:6. The 144,000 who, go by faith, into the Most Holy Place in the Heavenly Sanctuary (John 14:20). This 144,000 company, goes by faith into the Bridal Chamber and Christ consummates the wedding by sending His own Spirit, His own life, His quickening Spirit-life, His quickened soul, His quickened character, His Father's law into His faithful followers hearts, their desires who are upon earth faithfully studying, obeying and sharing the early 1830-1894 SDA Protestant Pioneer writings, doctrines.

'For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ' (II Corinthians 11:2).

THE GUESTS ARE NOT THE BRIDE of Christ, the 144,000, Zion, the church triumphant:

"the people of God are said to be GUESTS at the marriage supper" The Great Controversy 1888, p. 426.2.

"If guests, they cannot be represented also as the bride." The Great Controversy 1888, p. 426.2, Christ in His Sanctuary, p. 104.2.

"It was round about eighteen thousand measures: and the name of the city from that day shall be, The LORD is there" Ezekiel 48:35.

Here is a short Bible Study of Revelation 14: 1-6, to clarify one of the parties to the marriage:

Point Number One

I think "name" means taking on a name as in marriage, marriage to Christ in the Most Holy Place in the Heavenly Sanctuary. Marriage to Christ and his doctrines in our mind, our forehead which means His name is on our forehead "the Lord is there" Ezekiel 48:35.

When people got married it used to mean the Husband's credit was good and a wife could go to the store and charge something to her husband's name. In this case, our husband Jesus Christ. We charge our sins to our husbands account and partake of the inheritance He so graciously has given us, all of Heaven is at our disposal. What do we want? Like Queen Esther we ask for nothing except what our husband gives us to wear - His character, His truth!

The Bride has made herself ready by taking on her husband's character, which is his name, the law of God that we manifest because our husband fills us with Himself, His character, His life, His soul, His breath, His mind. It truly is a closer relationship than with an earthly spouse because we can communicate in our mind with Him and he completely understands where we are coming from because HE has walked in our shoes, pressing down the thorny path before us. Carrying us when we are too weak to walk. In the Lord have I righteousness and strength. He is our God, we have waited for Him and HE WILL SAVE US!

This section of scripture deals with a marriage.

Revelation 14:1-2 'Then I looked, and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father's name written on their foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven (those who have gone by faith into the Most Holy Place in the Heavenly Sanctuary in the Third Heaven), like the voice of many waters (many people), and like the voice of loud thunder (Loud Cry). And I heard the sound of harpists playing their harps (praise and thanksgiving to God?).

Note the term: 'having His Father's name'. This is a reference to a marriage. See Isaiah 4:1: 'And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, "We will eat our own food and wear our own apparel; only let us be called by your name, to take away our reproach."' Isaiah prophesies of a time when the 501c3 Adventist church who have apostatized from the 1830-1894 early SDA pioneers truths will want to wear their OWN clothing, their own doctrines, but want to still be called by the "Adventist" name which means "THE LORD IS THERE" Ez 48:35 to take away their reproach. Revelation 14:1 also pictures a group of people married to the Lamb, the 144,000 who cling to the old Adventist teachings faithfully. Faithfully keep the 7th day Sabbath from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown and give the Third Angel's message which is repeated today with the additional mention of the corruptions that have been entering the General Conference Seventh Day Adventist churches since 1844. The Second angel's message is again repeated COME OUT OF HER, Rev 18:4/Matt 25:6 (501c3 SDA members) and come out and join the wedding party procession that is on its way into the banquet hall that the 5 wise virgins jump up and study (trim their lamps = their character) by putting the the truths of the early SDA pioneers from 1830-1894 into practice, by studying intensely James S. White, Stephen N. Haskell, J. N. Andrews, William Miller, Otis Nichols, Joesph Marsh, Joseph Bates and more here. The foolish virgins eventually beg those who have been studying the truth to give them of their character, the Spirit of Christ in them, the oil of the truth about Christ living in them constraining their daily choices to be like Christs choices.

Point Number Two

This a unique group of people. No one else has the role given to them by God. They are 'saved' or redeemed. This is in the Kingdom of God, today, now, we can spiritually enter into BY FAITH the Most Holy Place in the Heavenly Sanctuary by claiming Bible verse promises per 2 Peter 1:4.

Revelation 14:3 'They sang as it were a new song [the old Adventist Pioneer doctrines from 1830-1894, the new covenant, the 1843 and 1850 chart tables, the two new tables written to our hearts that are the two paps, the two breasts that God nourishes His people with and they are also the two eagle wings that God's people learns how to fly...Jesus stirs up His People like a eagle stirs up her nest and gets the fledgling eagles out of the nest and teaches them to fly in her strength - she swoops under them and carries them up higher and higher to the Most Holy Place in the Heavenly Sanctuary by faith to the marriage of the Lamb, to the 144,000 who are chosen during the investigative judgment period from 1844 until the Sunday law when the bride of Christ, the 144,000 are unveiled] before the throne, before the four living creatures, and the elders; and no one could learn that song except the hundred and forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth.'

Notice the song is new. This is a one-time-only event. In the Old Testament songs were given to teach and prophesy of things to come. This song will identify in an anthem the people and their role. We do the same today with national anthems and school songs. There are only 144,000 in the group to become the Bride of Christ !!! The whole church is not the bride. Many are called, few are chosen to be the bride. This does not leave all the rest out of salvation. It only establishes the role of the 144,000 as the Bride of Christ, Zion, the Temple, in the Kingdom of God.

Point Number Three

There is a link to the Book of Ruth in this section of scripture. The 144,000 are also linked to the Festival of Weeks (Pentecost) and are firstfruits in the Kingdom of God.

Revelation 14:4 "These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to God and to the Lamb."

The link to the story of Ruth is in the words 'who follow the Lamb wherever He goes'. Take a look at Ruth 1:16: '"Entreat me not to leave you, Or to turn back from following after you; for wherever you go, I will go; and wherever you lodge, I will lodge; your people (are) my people, and your God, (is) my God."' The young Israelitish widow, knew Her God, and the purpose of marrying within her own national heritage. She was used to typify the Bride of Christ. This is a story of marriage and enriches the meaning of the Day of Pentecost. Revelation 14:1-5 and the Book of Ruth/Esther are dealing with the same prophetic marriage.

Point Number Four

These are the ones prepared and acceptable to God, who are pure in God's sight. The 144,000 who live and give the early SDA pioneers doctrines from 1830-1894, the Three Angel's Messages and keep the 7th day Sabbath.

Revelation 14:5 'And in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of God.'

Look at Revelation 21:9-27; Revelation 22:17 and compare with the Revelation 14:1-5. This is the same group of people and we see their role in the Kingdom of God. Notice the mansion and the rooms for the 144,000; the city with twelve gates, with the names of the twelve tribes. If you study into a Jewish wedding you will see the parallel, with the room built by the father of the groom, for the groom and bride to stay in for one week, consummating the marriage. This matches the Feast of Tabernacles of seven days in duration, with spiritual meaning for Christ and the Kingdom of God, the 144,000, conqubines and guests of the wedding FEAST. The wedding FEAST is the great truths setup in the beginning of the Advent movement from 1830-1894 by the early SDA Protestant Pioneers.Read Revelation 7:1-8. This shows that the 144,000 can only of the promise given to Abraham, the seed of God, the Son of God living in those who ask him too. The Spirit of Christ living in them is the both human and divine risen Spirit of Christ per 1 Cor 15:45 and Romans 8:9. They have to be pure in Spirit (character/soul because the Law of God is written to their daily choices, their heart by the Spirit of Christ living in them!) that is a matter of grace. God does not change. He forbade inter-racial marriage in Old Testament times, and He says the same for us in New Testament times. You cannot have the Spirit of the devil living in you and the Spirit of Christ at the same time. We must have the Spirit of Christ living in us through obedience to the Ten Commandments.

The Wedding Guests

'"Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding." So those servants went out into the highways and gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests . But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment' (Matthew 22:9-11). DID NOT have the Spirit of Christ, the law of God written to his daily choices/heart/desires.

There is another group to be at the wedding of the Lamb. These are guests at the wedding feast. They are the great multitude' of Revelation 7:9. In the New King James Version, the words "After this"', preface verse 9, indicating correctly that what follows refers to a separate group of people than the 144,000 of verses 1-8 of Revelation 7.

This group includes the servants of God from before the Flood; those righteous men after the Flood to Abraham; and the few Israelites/(Adventists today) given the Spirit of God before the Day of Pentecost, 31 A.D. The rest of the New Testament Church, including a percentage of them Gentiles, are a part of this great multitude. That shows you what importance God places on the Bride of Christ, when He lumps the patriarchs, the apostles, and all the rest, into one large group and separates them from the Bride of Christ !!!

The 144,000 of both Revelation chapters 7 and 14 are the Bride of Christ, reflecting the message behind the Three Angel's Messages found in Rev 14:6-12, the book of Ruth and Esther. For sure, the 144,000 can only be those who follow the doctrines of Christ, of pure truth as setup in the beginning of Adventism from 1830-1894. The rest are the guests at the Marriage of the Lamb — and concubines, who enter into the second house, like those who were not chosen like Esther was chosen to be Queen. Those who did not make the cut or were not chosen to be a part of the 144,000.

Esther represents the 144,000. The Book of Esther, and the Book of Revelation. Esther was amongst a group of women in "the custody of Shaashgaz, the king's eunuch who kept the concubines" (Esther 2:14). Esther and this group of women could considered "betrothed" to King Ahasuerus. Many were called, only Esther was chosen to be the king's wife. The others who were in the HOUSE being purified and were NOT chosen go into the SECOND HOUSE only to be called by name specifically.

Abraham's wife, the experience of Sarah also represents the 144,000's experience.

The marriage of the Lamb takes place as a single event. One husband. One bride.

Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, "Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb's wife." And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. Also she had a great and high wall with twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west. Now the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

(Revelation 21:9-14 NKJV)

"The history of the early experiences in the message will be a power to withstand the masterly ingenuity of Satan’s deceptions" Ellen White, Letter 99, 1905.

  1. "Those who think that the church militant (501c3 laodicean, foolish virgin, stony ground hearers SDA theological tare bundle) is the church triumphant (144,000 literal number) make a GREAT mistake." E.G. White, The Upward Look, 152.

  2. "The members of the church triumphant--the church in heaven--will be permitted to draw near to the members of the church militant (501c3 Adventists), to aid them in their necessity." E. G. White, The Southern Watchman, Sep. 8, 1903.

  3. The work is soon to close. The members of the church militant who have proved faithful will become the church triumphant"GCDB January 29, 1893, p. 24.5; —Letter 32, 1892.

Jesus is almost to come! We must learn Bible verse promises! Claim them in the Most Holy Place by faith going into the Heavenly Sanctuary in the Third Heaven by faith..."Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need (necessity)" Heb 4:16.

Hebrews 10:19

Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus,

Hebrews 3:1

Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest.

1 Peter 3:18

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.

The work is soon to close. The members of the church militant who have proved faithful [to the Three Angel's Messages given 1830-1894 to be again repeated] will become the church triumphant" GCDB January 29, 1893, p. 24.5; —Letter 32, 1892.

In reviewing our past history, having travelled over every step of advance to our present standing, I can say, Praise God! As I see what God has wrought, I am filled with astonishment and with confidence in Christ as Leader. We have nothing to fear for the future, except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us, and his teaching in our past history. We are now a strong people, if we will put our trust in the Lord; for we are handling the mighty truths of the word of God. We have everything to be thankful for. If we walk in the light as it shines upon us from the living oracles of God, we shall have large responsibilities, corresponding to the great light given us of God. We have many duties to perform, because we have been made the depositories of sacred truth to be given to the world in all its beauty and glory. We are debtors to God to use every advantage he has entrusted to us to beautify the truth of holiness of character, and to send the message of warning, and of comfort, of hope and love, to those who are in the darkness of error and sin" GCDB January 29, 1893, p. 24.5.

The “cleansing of the sanctuary” in Daniel 8:14 (KJV), was not, as William Miller understood, supposed to be the physical Second Coming of Jesus. Rather Jesus physically entered the Most Holy Place in the sanctuary in heaven, not the physical earth, to enact the final “day of atonement,” the marriage of Christ and His Bride, the 144,000, as the last act in the story of salvation, that began on October 22, 1844. This event initiated a period of “investigative judgment,” (God, choosing a Bride for His Son for eternity, the 144,000) based on Daniel 7:9-12, whereby God would judge the Adventist church, in order to determine who were the authentic believers and who were not. So, along with restoring the “correct” day for the Christian Sabbath (to Saturday the 7th day of the Fourth Commandment Ex 20:8-11), the new Adventist movement had Three Angel's Messages found in Revelation 14:6-12 to proclaim that would prepare true believers for the imminent Second Coming of Jesus. The failure of this "Adventist" group after Oct 22, 1844 to show the beauty of the truth lived

out in their daily lives like Queen Vashti was to show her beauty at the command of the King to the Princes of the Kingdom, they will be cut off, replaced like Queen Vashti was replaced by Queen Esther. A new Queen, like Queen Esther, will be chosen to give the Three Angel's Messages to the Laodicean 501c3 modern SDA church, the message to worship God only, to come out and away from the strange gods setup in the new organization, the 501c3 SDA church denominational churches, to start home Bible study groups, and to proclaim the THIRD angel's message again by the REPRINTING, the REPUBLISHING of the books and articles of the early SDA Protestant Pioneers!

The modern GC SDA church organization, having apostatized, by rejection of the firm foundation, the pillars, the landmark truths that were setup in the beginning of the the early SDA Protestant Pioneers doctrines from 1830-1894. In the 3 Angel's messages are included all the pioneer doctrines which as a sign on the outside to all by the 3 angel's logo. The modern 501c3 Adventist leaders today falsely claim William Miller was not a great scholar because of the 1843/1844 dates. See video of what 501c3 Adventists teach today for proof of this here.

"I saw that God sent his angel to move upon the heart of a farmer who had not believed the Bible, and led him to search the prophecies. Angels of God repeatedly visited that chosen one, and guided his mind, and opened his understanding to prophecies which had ever been dark to God's people. The commencement of the chain of truth was given him, and he was led on to search for link after link, until he looked with wonder and admiration upon the word of God. He saw there a perfect chain of truth. That Word which he had regarded as uninspired, now opened before his vision with beauty and glory. He saw that one portion of scripture explained another, and when one portion was closed to his understanding, he found in another portion of the Word that which explained it. He regarded the sacred word of God with joy, and with the deepest respect and awe.

As he followed down the prophecies, he saw that the inhabitants of earth were living in the closing scenes of this world's history, and they knew it not. He looked at the corruptions of the churches, and saw that their love was taken from Jesus, and placed on the world, and that they were seeking for worldly honor instead of that honor which cometh from above; ambitious for worldly riches, instead of laying up their treasure in heaven. Hypocrisy, darkness and death he could see every where. His spirit was stirred within him. God called him to leave his farm, as Elisha was called to leave his oxen and the field of his labor to follow Elijah. With trembling, William Miller began to unfold the mysteries of the kingdom of God to the people. He gained strength with every effort. He carried the people down through the prophecies to the second advent of Christ. As John the Baptist heralded the first advent of Jesus, and prepared the way for his coming, so also, Wm. Miller and those who joined him, proclaimed the second advent of the Son of God.

I was carried back to the days of the disciples, and was shown the beloved John, that God had a special work for him to accomplish. Satan was determined to hinder this work, and he led on his servants to destroy John. But God sent his angel and wonderfully preserved him. All who witnessed the great power of God manifested in the deliverance of John, were astonished, and many were convinced that God was with him, and that the testimony

which he bore concerning Jesus was correct. Those who sought to destroy him were afraid to again attempt to take his life, and he was permitted to suffer on for Jesus. He was falsely accused by his enemies, and was shortly banished to a lonely island, where the Lord sent his angel to reveal to him things which were to take place upon the earth, and the state of the church down through to the end; her backslidings, and the position the church should occupy if she would please God, and finally overcome. The angel from heaven came to John in majesty. His countenance beamed with the excellent glory of heaven. He revealed to John scenes of deep and thrilling interest concerning the church of God, and brought before him the perilous conflicts they were to endure. John saw them pass through fiery trials, and made white and tried, and, finally, victorious overcomers, gloriously saved in the kingdom of God" Spiritual Gifts, vol. 1, p. 128.1 (Ellen G. White).

Ellen White warns: “Let the aged men who were pioneers in our work speak plainly, and let those who are dead speak also, by the reprinting of their articles in our periodicals”—Ellen White, Manuscript 62, 1905, cited in “The Integrity of the Sanctuary Message.”

Ellen White warns: “We are to REPEAT THE WORDS of the pioneers in our work, who knew what it cost to search for the truth as for hidden treasure, and who labored to lay the foundation of our work. The word given me is, Let that which these men have written in the past be reproduced”—Ellen White, Review and Herald, May 25, 1905.

It is imperative to study the pioneers FIRM platform, firm foundation, landmarks, non-marks of the Beast but are the MARKS of the Lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world. The MARKS of eternal truth that was setup in the beginning of Adventism fro, 1830-1894. The modern 501c3 church has rejected the early SDA pioneer doctrines, which means apostasy from the truth. Come out of the modern SDA church and back into the doctrines and teachings of the early SDA Adventists today before it's too late. Don't be a foolish virgin that wakes up on the wrong side of the door knocking to get into the banquet hall!

GOD IS NOT CHANGING THE THREE ANGEL'S MESSAGES, THE LANDMARKS, THE FIRM FOUNDATION, THE PRINCIPLES, THE DOCTRINES, SETUP IN THE BEGINNING OF EARLY 1830-1894 HISTORICAL ADVENTISM:

“The third angel's message was, and still is, a WARNING to the saints [TODAY = 2016!] to "hold fast," and not go back, and "receive" the marks (of the Papal beast=TRINITY, SUNDAY WORSHIP, Sprinkling) which the virgin band got rid of, during the second angel's [1843-1844] cry” —A Word to the "Little Flock" JAMES WHITE, Topsham, Maine April 21, 1847.

  • "The greatest fault we can find in the Reformation is, the Reformers stopped reforming. Had they gone on, and onward, till they had left the last vestige of Papacy behind, such as natural immortality, sprinkling, the trinity, and Sunday- keeping, the church would now be free from her unscriptural errors” —James White, February 7, 1856, Review & Herald, vol. 7, no. 19, page 148, par. 26.

  • FIRST ANGELS MESSAGE: "Many who had been trained to worship their church and their minister, here learned to "fear God" alone, and "give glory to him." This message weaned us from this world, and led us to the feet of Jesus, to seek forgiveness of all our sins, and a free and full salvation through the blood of Christ" James White "from heaven," Amen. p. 3, Para. 2.

  • "In trying to break down the barriers between him that serves God and him that serves him not, they have placed themselves where their feet will NEVER AGAIN find solid ground [old 1841-1846 SDA pioneer doctrines]" —Manuscript Releases, vol. 20 [Nos. 1420-1500], p. 28.5.

  • Learn more about the Three Angel's Messages and the "additional mention" of the fourth angel's message that joins the Third Angel's message at just the right time here.

"We have, as had John, a message to bear of the things which we have seen and heard. God is not giving us a new message. We are to proclaim the message that in 1843 and 1844 brought us out of the other churches. [this will bring us back to the doctrines, the THREE ANGEL'S MESSAGES, THE THREE ANTI-CATHOLIC DOCTRINE MESSAGES (anti-or non-trinitarian 1st angel's message Rev 14:6-7, and the other 2 angel's messages) originally taught by the SDA pioneers in 1840-1846!] We need the Holy Spirit to kindle in our hearts the zeal and earnestness that were then seen among God's people. I thank the Lord that there are still living a few who can remember those days, and who know whereof they speak"(RH Jan 19th 1905).

The truths that we received in 1841, '42, '43, and '44 are now to be studied and proclaimed. The messages of the first, second, and third angels will in the future be proclaimed with a loud voice. They will be given with earnest determination and in the power of the Spirit.(15MR Ltr 75 1905)

"The message of the fall of Babylon, as given by the second angel [Rev. 14:8], is repeated, with the additional mention of the corruption's which have been entering the [SDA] churches since 1844. The work of this angel comes in at the right time to join in the last great work of the third angel's [Rev. 14:9-12 anti-Pope's anti-trinity, anti-sunday] message as it swells to a loud cry" —Early Writtings, p. 277.1.

"Those who are engaged in proclaiming the third angel’s message are searching the Scriptures upon the same plan that Father Miller adopted. In the little book entitled “Views of the Prophecies and Prophetic Chronology,” Father Miller gives the following simple but intelligent and important rules for Bible study and interpretation" – Ellen G. White, RH November 25, 1884 Par. 23.

“1. Every word must have its proper bearing on the subject presented in the Bible; 2. All Scripture is necessary, and may be understood by diligent application and study; 3. Nothing revealed in Scripture can or will be hid from those who ask in faith, not wavering; 4. To understand doctrine, bring all the scriptures together on the subject you wish to know, then let every word have its proper influence; and if you can form your theory without a contradiction, you cannot be in error; 5. Scripture must be its own expositor, since it is a rule of itself. If I depend on a teacher to expound to me, and he should guess at its meaning, or desire to have it so on account of his sectarian creed, or to be thought wise, then his guessing, desire, creed, or wisdom is my rule, and not the Bible.”

The above is a portion of these rules; and in our study of the Bible we shall all do well to heed the principles set forth.

Genuine faith is founded on the Scriptures; but Satan uses so many devices to wrest the Scriptures and bring in error, that great care is needed if one would know what they really do teach. It is one of the great delusions of this time to dwell much upon feeling, and to claim honesty while ignoring the plain utterances of the word of God because that word does not coincide with feeling. Many have no foundation for their faith but emotion. Their religion consists in excitement; when that ceases, their faith is gone. Feeling may be chaff, but the word of God is the wheat. And “what,” says the prophet, “is the chaff to the wheat?”

None will be condemned for not heeding light and knowledge that they never had, and they could not obtain. But many refuse to obey the truth that is presented to them by Christ's ambassadors, because they wish to conform to the world's standard; and the truth that has reached their understanding, the light that has shone in the soul, will condemn them in the Judgment. In these last days we have the accumulated light that has been shining through all the ages, and we shall be held correspondingly responsible. The path of holiness is not on a level with the world; it is a way cast up. If we walk in this way, if we run in the way of the Lord's commandments, we shall find that the “path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.” Ellen G. White, RH November 25, 1884 Par. 23.

Matthew 19:28

Jesus said to them, "Truly I tell you, in the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on His glorious throne, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
