Historical Adventism vs Modern Adventism

Many may wonder at a glance, just what is "wrong" with Modern Adventism. The Bible and our last day prophet Ellen White warn us that if we DO NOT forget the way we were led of old, we will be safe in the arms of Jesus.

"The God of heaven saw it fit to establish the Advent movement on a solid foundation of truth. This foundation included a correct understanding of who He is. The Advent band was not left to wander through the multiplied delusions of the spiritualizers. From the earliest visions God assured His children of the reality of His being. “I have often seen the lovely Jesus, that He is a person. I asked Him if His Father was a person and had a form like Himself. Said Jesus, “I am in the express image of My Father’s person.” I have often seen that the spiritual view took away all the glory of heaven […]” {E.G. White, Early Writings, p. 77}

Today Adventists will quote from Ellen White and the Bible to support positions, that our early pioneers believed were UN-scriptural.

"Thus the message of the third angel will be proclaimed. As the time comes for it to be given with greatest power, the Lord will work through humble instruments, leading the minds of those who consecrate themselves to His service. The laborers ["eleventh-hour"] will be qualified rather by the unction of His Spirit than by the training of literary institutions. Men of faith and prayer will be constrained to go forth with holy zeal, declaring the words which God gives them. The sins of Babylon will be laid open. The fearful results of enforcing the ["religious"] observances [see the trademark certificate] of the church by civil authority, the inroads of spiritualism (Spiritual Formation & trinity/Eucharist god worship) [seeking the counsel of worldly lawyers -- the "god of Ekron" -- instead of YAHWEH], the stealthy but rapid progress of the papal power [restriction of liberty of conscience]--all will be unmasked. By these solemn warnings the people will be stirred. Thousands upon thousands will listen who have never heard words like these. In amazement they hear the testimony that Babylon is the church, fallen because of her errors and sins, because of her rejection of the truth sent to her from heaven. As the people go to their former teachers with the eager inquiry, Are these things so? the ministers present fables, prophesy smooth things, to soothe their fears and quiet the awakened conscience. But since many refuse to be satisfied with the mere authority of men and demand a plain "Thus saith the Lord," the popular ministry, like the Pharisees of old, filled with anger as their authority is questioned, will denounce the message as of Satan and stir up the sin-loving multitudes to revile and persecute those who proclaim it." (GC 606, 607; brackets and emphasis supplied)

There is ONLY one body of "believers" that would be "amazed" at hearing "Babylon is the church." Few denominations ever teach about "Babylon." Members of most congregations would not have any idea what was being implied by the words "Babylon is the church." It is ONLY the "Seventh-day Adventists" who would take the time and effort to consult "their former teachers with...eager inquiry."

Things Modern Adventism has rejected that the early pioneers believed. The following doctrines reflect the new unscriptural views of the Adventist Church:

Departure from the Biblical and SOP truth regarding the man of sin.

In the Reply Brief for Defendants of the Mary Kay-Silver trial, on page 4, Neal C. Wilson stated for the SDA church:

"Although it is true that there was a period in the life of the Seventh-day Adventist Church when the denomination took a distinctly anti-Roman Catholic viewpoint, and the term 'hierarchy' was used in a pejorative sense to refer to the papal form of church governance, that attitude on the church's part was nothing more than a manifestation of widespread anti-popery among conservative Protestant denominations in the early part of this century and the latter part of the last, and which has now been consigned to the historical trash heap so far as the Seventh-day Adventist Church is concerned." Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Vs the Pacific Press Publishing Association and SDA Church, civ #74-2025 CBR, 1975.

3) Her rejection of truth sent to her from heaven:

The SDA church has rejected the testimonies of God at least in the following areas:

Based on the above can the honest in heart deny that the SDA church, which was first, declared a harlot (Babylonian) in 1903 has indeed fallen because of her continued and increasing sins, errors, and rejection of truth sent to her from heaven?

Has Ellen White ever prophesied that God's people just before the falling of the plagues will be called out of the SDA churches? YES!

"I saw that God has honest children among the nominal Adventists and the fallen churches, and before the plagues shall be poured out, ministers and people will be called out from these churches and will gladly receive the truth. Satan knows this; and before the loud cry of the third angel is given, he raises an excitement in these religious bodies, that those who have rejected the truth may think that God is with them." {EW, p 261}.

"Souls that were scattered all through the religious bodies answered to the call, and the precious were hurried out of the doomed churches, as Lot was hurried out of Sodom before her destruction.” --{See Revelation 14:12, Revelation 18, Joel 2:9-11; The Great Controversy Chapter 34}

The most fearful news here is the prophecy that those who will reject the call to come out of the SDA churches and the fallen churches will experience an 'excitement', coming from Satan to deceive them into thinking that 'God is with them".

How do we know from inspired writings that we are now living just before the 'plagues shall be poured out' and therefore have to separate from the fallen Babylonian SDA church and the other churches as well?

We know that we are in just this 'critical time' because of the wild spreading of the 'celebration' style of worship in the SDA churches and the other fallen churches around the world, as accurately predicted by Ellen White.

"The things you have described as taking place in Indiana, the Lord has shown me would take place just before the close of probation. Every uncouth thing will be demonstrated. There will be shouting, with drums, music, and dancing. The senses of rational beings will become so confused that they cannot be trusted to make right decisions. And this is called the moving of the Holy Spirit." {2SM, p 36}.

There are many more angles from which one can present the subject of separation. Examples of other equally convincing angels would be: wheat and tares, abomination of desolation, and corporate accountability. The purpose of this short study is not to address all major points and objections, which may arise from this initial study. It would satisfy me greatly if the only benefit that can accrue, at this point, would be the realization of the importance of subject matter; and hence, the determination to study it further and more deeply. In this website, you will find a lot of content to satisfy your 'Berean' attitude. Nothing equals the beauty of divine truth.

  1. That there is ONE God AND one Son of God vs adopting 3 gods (the trinity) like back-slidden Israel did so many years ago. This is demon worship.

  2. Modern Adventism believes that we CANNOT be faultless or sin-free, that only when Jesus comes will we be able to be perfect or overcomers of sin. Our pioneers believed that if you are born again - you ARE sin free. now. Click here for what our pioneers believed on this topic that waxes stronger and stronger with the saved in sin theology. Rev 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment.... The white garments aren't given to those who overcome, rather those who overcome do so because they are already clothed in Christ's righteousness.

  3. Spiritual Formation - letting the Bible "read you" as you "study". This is witchcraft.

  4. That God does not destroy - this is also the first lie that Satan through the serpent told Eve - "Thou shalt NOT surely die" if you eat this fruit...Satan is still telling it today.

  5. Keeping of the feasts - that were done away with at the cross. The feasts that pointed to the cross.

"Regarding the testimonies, nothing is ignored; nothing is cast aside; but time and place must be considered." (1SM 57)

Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins. Isaiah 58:1

Thesis One:

The SDA Church has a Statement of 28 Fundamental Beliefs that EVERY member of the SDA church OFFICIALLY believes.

No matter if you believe something different, IF you are a MEMBER of that body,

a court of law (heavenly and/or earthly) holds EVERY MEMBER as officially ascribing to these beliefs.

These 28 Statements of belief mention, but do not contain or define the Three Angels Messages.

The true platform of the true SDA church is the Three Angels Messages of Revelation 14:6-12. (See the chapter "The Firm Platform" in Early Writings and 1 SM 204,205).

Thesis Two:

The SDA Church has defined "the Church" in Statement #12 as

"the community of believers that confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour."

"The church is the community of believers who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour."

A community is a group of people. A church system is a community of people.

But "the community" that confesses Christ is much larger than any one church system.

ALL the Fallen church systems known as Babylon are communities that confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.

In fact, the SDA statement of belief is identical to the definition of the church as defined by The World Council of Churches.

Even the Roman Catholic church is part of "the community of believers who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour."

Thus, the SDA Church has defined itself as part of Babylon--which is composed of all communities that confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. We should never define the church as Babylon.

That this is truly the way the Gen. Conf. has defined the church can be easily proved

1) by statements of SDA officials under court oath,

2) exerpts from its many ecumenical dialogues with other church systems, and

3) by looking at the next statement of Belief #13 which defines the SDA church as part of the "universal church."

The true church is defined in Rev. 14:12 (see Upward Look 315).

Thesis Three:

The 28 statements also contain a Statement of belief #14 called "UNITY IN THE BODY OF CHRIST." The "body of Christ" is the "church." The Church was defined as "the community of believers who confess Jesus." Thus, this is an ecumenical unitydefined.

In this Belief statement "unity" of the church is based on belief "in the Triune God."

"This unity has its source in the oneness of the triune God."

This basis of unity is EXACTLY the same as defined by Pope John Paul in his encyclical "Ut Unim Sint" (That They May Be One).

True unity can only be based on truth found in the Word of God. See John 17 and the pages in Great Controversy 595, 596.

Thesis Four:

This Triune god is defined in Belief #2--One god who is composed of 3 persons. This is a false god. "There is one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, a unity of three co-eternal Persons."

How can "one god" be three gods, and why are they "co-eternal" and not "eternal"? It is because this Statement of Belief is subtly defining the Catholic Trinity concept of god.

It is the god worshipped by the beast and the image of the beast--the false prophet.

This is easily proved by the statements of SDA officials given in their many ecumenical dialogues with other churches.

Thesis Five:

This new god was brought into the SDA Church (after 117 years) by Neil Wilson in 1980.

These 28 statements were given to the church (after 108 years) by Neil Wilson in 1980.

Conclusion:

How can there be a unity of God's true people, His church, those who "keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus," on a platform of these false doctrines?

No, there will have to be a great repentance by the General Conference of these sins and errors first,

before there can be a true "unity" and

before the Gen. Conf. of SDA can be accounted by the true God of the First Angel's message as the true "church."

Let us pray that Ted Wilson, the son, can lead the SDA church out of Babylon and back to the Three Angels Messages.

Rev 3:9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

Rev 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Rev 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

Ellen White warned that it would be IMPOSSIBLE to reform the new movement and that it would permit nothing to stand in its way. She prophesied that the omega of apostasy of the new movement would wax stronger UNTIL Jesus comes:

Wax stronger--

"One thing it is certain is soon to be realized, the GREAT APOSTASY, which is DEVELOPING and INCREASING and waxing STRONGER, and WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO UNTIL THE LORD SHALL DESCEND FROM HEAVEN WITH A SHOUT. We are to hold fast the FIRST principles of our denominated faith, and go forward from strength to increased faith. Ever we are to keep the faith that has been substantiated by the Holy Spirit of God from the earlier events of our experience until the present time. We need now larger breadth, and deeper, more earnest, unwavering faith in the LEADINGS of the Holy Spirit. If we needed the manifest proof of the Holy Spirit's power to confirm truth in the beginning, after the passing of the time, we need to-day all the evidence in the confirmation of the truth, when souls are departing from the faith and giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. There must not be any languishing of soul now." (E.G. White, Special Testimonies, Series B, No. 7, p. 57).

Does "the GREAT APOSTASY, which is DEVELOPING and INCREASING and waxing stronger, and WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO until the Lord shall descend from heaven with a shout." sound as if the SDA church is going to REFORM?

THOSE WHO KEEP GOD'S COMMANDMENTS, those who live not by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God, COMPOSE THE CHURCH of the living God. Those who choose to follow antichrist are subjects of the great apostate. Ranged under the banner of Satan, they break God's law, and lead others to break it....

SATAN IS AVERTING MINDS WITH UNIMPORTANT QUESTIONS, in order that they shall not with clear and distinct vision see matters of vast importance. The enemy is planning to ensnare the world.

A special issue of the Adventist Review devoted to the “27 Fundamentals” yields the following declaration concerning the doctrine of the Trinity.

"While no single scriptural passage states formally the doctrine of the Trinity, it is assumed as a fact by Bible writers and mentioned several times. Only by faith can we accept the existence of the Trinity." (Adventist Review, Vol. 158, No. 31, p. 4)

To the Surprise of some modern Adventists today, the pioneers of the SDA Church, including our prophetess Ellen White, rejected the pagan philosophical idol consisting of the Trinity of gods, and upheld a more Biblical view of the Godhead. They taught that Christ was the literal Son of GOD, that by some Divine Act Christ was brought forth from the Father before creation. The pioneers taught that the "Holy" Spirit or God's divine mind or active force or his energy proceeded from the Father, through the Son, making them both every-where present.

James White found the Trinity doctrine to be unscriptural and was a blatant anti-Trinitarian: James White writes, "The “mystery of iniquity” began to work in the church in Paul’s day. It finally crowded out the simplicity of the gospel, and corrupted the doctrine of Christ, and the church went into the wilderness. Martin Luther, and other reformers, arose in the strength of God, and with the Word and Spirit, made mighty strides in the Reformation. The greatest fault we can find in the Reformation is, the Reformers stopped reforming. Had they gone on, and onward, till they had left the LAST VESTIGE OF PAPACY BEHIND, such as natural immortality, sprinkling, THE TRINITY, and Sunday-keeping, the church would now be free from her UNSCRIPTURAL ERRORS. (James White, February 7, 1856, Review & Herald, vol. 7, no. 19, page 148, par. 26)

James White was editor of the Review and Herald in 1861. In November of that year, he published J. N. Loughborough’s answer to the question, "What serious objection is there to the doctrine of the trinity?" Loughborough replied: There are many objections which we might urge, but on account of our limited space we shall reduce them to the following: 1. It is contrary to common sense. 2. It is contrary to Scripture. 3. It’s origin is Pagan and fabulous. Review and Herald, XVIII (November 5, 1861), 184

How dare we as "people of the book" PRESUME to worship a Trinity of gods that isn't even SCRIPTURAL? We have wandered after other gods, JUST LIKE the children of Israel did in days of old.

Ellen White writes this about the Trinity doctrine: "Babylon has been fostering poisonous doctrines, the wine of error. This wine of error is made up of false doctrines, such as the natural immortality of the soul, the eternal torment of the wicked, THE DENIAL OF THE PRE-EXISTENCE OF CHRIST PRIOR TO HIS BIRTH IN BETHLEHEM (Notice this is talking about the Trinity doctrine, because the Trinity belief denies Jesus the true literal Son of GOD existed before his birth in Bethlehem.), and advocating and exalting the first day of the week above God's holy and sanctified day. THESE AND KINDRED ERRORS are presented to the world by the various churches, and thus the Scriptures are fulfilled that say, `For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.' It is a wrath which is created by false doctrines, and when kings and presidents drink this wine of the wrath of her fornication, they are stirred with anger against those who will not come into harmony with the false and satanic heresies which exalt the false Sabbath, and lead men to trample underfoot God's memorial." TM 61

Uriah Smith in the following article sets forth the early Adventist’s belief about Christ up to 1898:

URIAH SMITH: "God alone is without beginning. At the earliest epoch when a beginning could be,--a period so remote that to finite minds it is essentially eternity,--appeared the Word…This uncreated Word was the Being, who, in the fullness of time was made flesh, and dwelt among us. His beginning was not like that of any other being in the universe. . . . Thus it appears that by some divine impulse or process, not creation, known only to Omniscience, and possibly only to Omnipotence, the Son of God appeared." Uriah Smith, Looking Unto Jesus, (Battle Creek, Mich.: Review and Herald Publishing Company, 1898), p. 10.

Speaking of this time period [1844-1903] Ellen White wrote:

"The leading points of our faith as we hold them today were firmly established. Point after point was clearly defined, and all the brethren came into harmony. The whole company of believers were UNITED IN THE TRUTH. There were those who came in with strange doctrines, but we were never afraid to meet them. Our experience was wonderfully established by the revelation of the Holy Spirit".—MS 135, 1903. (Ellen G. White, The Early Years Volume 1 - 1827-1862, page 145)

For the "true" Adventist this puts them in quite a position. Here Ellen White and the Pioneers of the SDA Church deny the modern SDA’s Tritheistic teachings, and on top of that Ellen White tells us this group of Pioneers were UNITED IN TRUTH. If the pioneer’s version of the Godhead is truth, then the modern SDA Church is in deep Apostasy. If the Pioneer’s teaching was WRONG, then Ellen White is a false prophet, and the current SDA Church is a Church born from Apostasy, that upholds a false prophet!

The only truthful conclusion is such:

#1. Ellen White was for the first fifty years (1844-1895) decidedly non-Trinitarian, especially with her clear statements that Christ is not the Lord God Almighty and tons of other statements. If one truly understands the Trinity, there is NO WAY anyone would say that Ellen White was a Trinitarian, they would scream she was a blasphemous, heretical, anti-Trinitarian writer. Thus, if the trinity is true, then Ellen White was a false prophet.

#2. If the pioneers were Arians, then there is no link between the Modern Church and the one that came out of the great disappointment (1844) and this is readily admitted by the Conference. Thus if the trinity is true then the SDA church is not the remnant, and if the trinity is not truth, then the SDA Church of today is Babylon by their own standards.

OH Dear reader, will you not escape from the vat of confusion? Will you not learn to trust in the Word, the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy alone?

THE PIONEERS WOULD NOT JOIN THE MODERN SDA CHURCH IF THEY WERE ALIVE TODAY

Did you know that the SDA Church now admits that the Adventist Pioneers would NOT be able to join the church today? Here is a quote from Ministry Magazine:

“Most of the founders of Seventh-day Adventism would NOT BE ABLE TO JOIN THE CHURCH TODAY if they had to subscribe to the denomination’s Fundamental Beliefs.

More specifically, most would not be able to agree to belief number 2, which deals with the doctrine of the Trinity. For Joseph Bates the Trinity was an unscriptural doctrine, for James White it was that “old Trinitarian absurdity,” and for M. E. Cornell it was a fruit of the great apostasy, along with such false doctrines as Sunday keeping and the immortality of the soul.” (Ministry, October 1993, p. 10)

The Nicene Creed formulated in 325 AD, which is the basis for the modern Trinity and the central doctrine of the Catholic church states:

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all ages; God of God, 1 Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father; by whom all things were made. Who, for us all for our salvation, came down from Heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the living and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end. And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life; who proceeds from the Father; 2 who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets. And I believe in one holy universal 3 and apostolic Church. 4 I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Today's Modern Seventh Day Adventist 1980 Official Doctrine #2. Trinity states:

There is one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, a unity of three co-eternal Persons. God is immortal, all-powerful, all-knowing, above all, and ever present. He is infinite and beyond human comprehension, yet known through His self-revelation. He is forever worthy of worship, adoration, and service by the whole creation. (Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14; Eph. 4:4-6; 1 Peter 1:2; 1 Tim. 1:17; Rev. 14:7.)

Written in 1906 by Ellen White: "The evidence given in our early experience has the same force that it had then. The truth is the same as it ever has been, and not a pin or a pillar can be moved from the structure of truth. That which was sought for out of the Word in 1844, 1845, and 1846 remains the truth in EVERY PARTICULAR." Letter 38, 1906 Ellen White. This would include the TRUTH about GOD.

Fundamental Principle #1-The foundation of our faith which included a correct understanding of God [EW 77]

I. That there is one God, a personal spiritual being, the creator of all things, omnipotent, omniscient, and eternal, infinite in wisdom, holiness, justice, goodness, truth, and mercy; unchangeable, and everywhere present by his representative, the Holy Spirit. Ps. 139:7.

Quoting from 1 Corinthians 8:6 which tells us there is “One God the father”. This is a much different statement then the new 1980 belief accepted and promoted by General Conference Adventists that there is One God, an “impersonal office of three persons”.

James White who helped collaborate this original statement of “fundamental principles of faith” in 1872 said: The inexplicable Trinity that makes the Godhead three in one and one in three, is bad enough; but that ultra Unitarianism that makes Christ inferior to the Father is worse. Did God say to an inferior, “Let us make man in our image?” (James White, November 29, 1877, Review & Herald)

Our pioneers did not believe God was a three in one, one in three God. They believed he was a personal spiritual being.

Does the General Conference body of believers believe that the foundation of our faith included a correct understanding of who God is? [EW77]

The general conference tells us that they do NOT believe that the foundation included a correct understanding of who he is.

“Most of the founders of Seventh-day Adventism would not be able to join the church today if they had to subscribe to the denomination’s Fundamental Beliefs. More specifically, most would not be able to agree to belief number 2, which deals with the doctrine of the trinity.” - Ministry, October 1993, p. 10.

“Adventist beliefs have changed over the years under the impact of ‘present truth.’ Most startling is the teaching regarding Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Lord… the Trinitarian understanding of God, now part of our fundamental beliefs, was not generally held by the early Adventists. Even today a few do not subscribe to it.” (Adventist Review, Jan. 6, 1994 p.10)

So it is pretty clear that the General Conference in establishing their new creed have rejected the inspired counsel that says that our foundation was solidly established and included a correct understanding of who God is and definitely does not believe that the foundation established in 1844, 1845, and 1846 remains the truth in every particular.

“The mystery (see Rev. 17:5) of the Trinity is the central doctrine of the catholic church. Upon it are based all the teachings of the church” [Handbook for Todays Catholic Page 11. Think about that! The Trinity is the CENTRAL DOCTRINE of the Catholic church and ALL their OTHER doctrines are based upon the TRINITY!

In God there are three persons, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, equal in all perfections." The Convert’s Catechism of Catholic Doctrine, p 31 by Peter Geiermann, C.SS.R., Imprimatur - September 16, 1957.

FOR centuries millions of people have believed the doctrine of the trinity, which teaches that “in the unity of the Godhead there are Three Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, these Three Persons being truly distinct one from another. Thus, in the words of the Athanasian Creed: ‘The Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God, and yet there are not three Gods, but one God.’” (The Catholic Encyclopedia) Do you believe this doctrine? Why?

Many persons think the trinity is a Christian teaching based on God’s Word, the Bible. However, early Roman Catholic writers did not hesitate to admit that the trinity could not be proved by Scripture alone. Cardinal Hosius is quoted as having said: “We believe the doctrine of a triune God, because we have received it by tradition, though not mentioned at all in Scripture.” (Conf. Cathol. Fidei, Chap. XXVI)

Other persons are just as frank about declaring the trinity to be of pagan origin. Arthur Weigall, in his book The Paganism in Our Christianity, states: “Jesus Christ never mentioned such a phenomenon, and nowhere in the New Testament does the word ‘Trinity’ appear.” He says the idea of a coequal trinity “was only adopted by the [Roman Catholic] Church three hundred years after the death of our Lord; and the origin of the conception is entirely pagan.”

This doctrine of the trinity was brought into the church about the same time with image worship, and keeping the day of the sun, and is but Persian doctrine remodeled. It occupied about three hundred years from its introduction to bring the doctrine to what it is now. It was commenced about 325 A. D., and was not completed till 681. See Milman’s Gibbon’s Rome, vol. 4, p. 422. It was adopted in Spain in 589, in England in 596, in Africa in 534. - Gib. vol. 4, pp. 114, 345; Milner, vol. 1, p. 519. (To be continued.) (J. N. Loughborough, November 5, 1861, Review & Herald, vol. 18, page 184, par. 1-11)

Implications Concerning the Three Angels’ Messages

The first angel’s message carries “the EVERLASTING GOSPEL.” False concepts of God and Christ do not constitute the “everlasting gospel.” If the Modern from 1980 on of professed Seventh day Adventists tritheistic doctrine of the Trinity is true, then the Advent pioneers presented what Paul called “another gospel” (Galatians 1:6) and must surely be disqualified as the remnant. The remnant must preach “the everlasting gospel”, not “another gospel.”

The second angel’s message states that “Babylon is fallen.” As noted earlier, if the pioneers understood God incorrectly, then they were deluded, and a part of Babylon. If they were correct, then the Modern SDA Church is Babylon. If the Pioneers were wrong, then they were Babylon, and the Modern Church is exalting a false movement and a false prophet!

The third angel’s message says that the saints “keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.” We break not only the first commandment, but according to James 2:10 the whole Decalogue, worshiping a false god.

If the Adventists pioneers were wrong about the Godhead, then they were breaking the Commandment, and could not proclaim the message. If they were right, then the modern Church is WRONG and cannot proclaim the message. Either way, the Modern SDA Church cannot be the Remnant, since she was either born in Apostasy or has since went into Apostasy.

"Wherefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered without the gate. Let us go forth therefore unto Him WITHOUT the camp, bearing His reproach." Hebrews 13:12-13. "The first, second, and third angel's messages are to be repeated. The call is to be GIVEN TO THE CHURCH: 'Babylon the Great is fallen, is fallen and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird....come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.'" Review and Herald, October 31, 1899 (vol 4, p 109, col 3).

WHAT ARE YOUR CHOICES?

"...the light will shine, and all who are honest will leave the fallen churches, and take their stand with the remnant” -Early Writings: page 261

"If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?" Psalms 11:3.

"As a people we are to stand firm on the platform of eternal truth that has withstood test and trial. We are to hold to the sure pillars of our faith. The principles of truth that God has revealed to us are our only true foundation. They have made us what we are. The lapse of time has not lessened their value." Counsels to Writers and Editors, p 52.

"Men will arise with interpretations of scripture which are to them truth, but which are not truth. The truth for this time, God has given us as a foundation for our faith. He Himself has taught us what is truth. One will arise, and still another, with new light which contradicts the light God has given under the demonstration of His Holy Spirit... We are not to receive the words of those who come with a message that contradicts the special points of our faith." Counsels to Writers and Editors, p 32.

Letter 53, 1887,

When the truth we now cherish was first seen to be Bible truth how very strange was the opposition we had to meet in presenting it to the people for the first time. But how earnest and sincere were the truth loving, truth obeying ones. We were indeed a peculiar people. We were few in numbers, without wealth, without worldly wisdom, or worldly honors; and yet we believed God, and were strong and successful, a terror to evil doers. Our love for one another was firm, it was not easily shaken. The people of God manifested in our midst, and the sick were healed, and there was much calm, sweet, holy joy.

But while the light continued to increase, the advancement of the church has not been proportionate to the light. The fine gold has gradually become dim, and deadness and formality have come in to cripple the energies of the church. Their abundant privileges and opportunities have not led His people onward and upward to purity and holiness. A faithful improvement of the talents entrusted to them by God would have increased those talents greatly. Where much is given, much will be required. Those only who faithfully accept and appreciate the light God has given us, and who will take a high noble stand in self denial and self sacrifice will be channels of light to the world. Those who do not advance will retrograde, on the very borders of the heavenly Canaan.

You can now make two choices.

#1 Choice: Follow: Acts 2:38, Isaiah 26:20 & Revelation 18:4. You can love the Truth, and go back to the old historical paths of the pioneer SDA beliefs that Keep the Commandments of GOD and has the Testimony of Jesus. Jesus testified that he was the SON OF GOD, which is something Modern Adventism denies! "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them." Ephesians 5:11.

#2 Choice: Stick with the proverbial ship who has now REJECTED GOD and worships Satan and has Satan himself at its helm. You are now warned! To be warned is to be forearmed. You can ignore the Truth, and continue believing the MODERN 1980 SDA doctrines whose leaderships feet have left the upward path in Ellen White's vision. They have stumbled off of the path and fallen into the darkness below and have rejected the truth that united our pioneers. The MODERN SDA church is no longer God’s “Remnant” church.

"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." 2 Corinthians 6:14-18.

"Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the Lord." Isaiah 52:11.

“My people have been lost sheep: their shepherds (church leaders) have caused them to go astray...they have forgotten their resting place (in God alone)....Remove out of the midst of Babylon...Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity....My people, go ye out of the midst of her, and deliver ye every man his soul from the fierce anger of the Lord.” Jeremiah 50:6, 8, 51:6, 45.

“In amazement they hear the testimony that Babylon is the church, fallen because of her errors and sins, because of her rejection of the truth sent to her from Heaven." (Ellen G. White, in Spirit of Prophecy, vol 4, p 424 or Great Controversy, p 606-607).

“Adventist Sunday church...Deeply committed members of the 600-member Mountain View church (in Las Vegas, Nevada) launched their (‘52-week’ ‘Sunday morning worship service’) experiment on Easter weekend...Each Sunday (throughout an entire year) (SDA pastor Tim) Dunfield presents a clearly Adventist message...They hope that this model can be replicated (by SDA churches) in other cities across this country.” (Pacific Union Recorder, February, 2000, p 34-35).

“Dear Mrs Thatcher....Our feeling as a church is that it would be better for one day each week to be retained as a day of rest and worship rather than no day at all. We would therefore respectfully request you and your colleagues in government to reconsider the proposals (to repeal the Sunday Trading laws already in existence and being enforced) contained in the Sunday Trading Bill.” (W. John Arthur, Vice-President of the British Union Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, to Mrs Margaret Thatcher, Prime Minister of England, March 27, 1986).

"At the local conference level the Seventh-day Adventist church has a representative form of government, above that level the polity of the Seventh-day Adventist is hierarchical: authority flows downward and members in local congregations have virtually no voice....the Seventh-day Adventist church is a closed, self-operating, and self-perpetuating system, similar to the Roman Catholic church, in which those in authority are not responsible to lower echelons. Above the local conference level, those in authority are not elected by, representative of, or administratively accountable to, local congregations or the membership at large." (Raymond F. Cottrell, former Associate Editor of the Adventist Review and the Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary, in Spectrum (Journal of Association of Adventist Forums), vol 14, #4, March, 1984, p 42).

I consider myself, now, to be a historical Seventh-Day Adventist doing my best to honor GOD alone. I believe that the Bible & James & Ellen White to be inspired by the GOD of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Daniel, Noah, Moses. I believe in the same GOD as Ellen & James White and the other pioneers who setup the very foundations of the "chosen" historic SDA church (1844-1915 timeframe). Most people in the SDA church do not realize that Ellen White said this of her husband James White: "He [GOD] has ALSO given my husband GREAT light upon Bible subjects, not for himself alone, but for others." {3T 85} and “He (James White) received a commendation that few others have attained. God has permitted the precious light of truth to shine upon His word and illuminate the mind of my husband. He may reflect the rays of light from the presence of Jesus upon others by his preaching and writing.”{E. G. White, Testimonies for the Church Volume 3, p. 502}

"The past fifty years have not dimmed one jot or principle of our faith as we received the great and wonderful evidences that were made certain to us in 1844, after the passing of the time. The languishing souls are to be confirmed and quickened according to His Word. . . . Not a word is changed or denied. That which the Holy Spirit testified to as truth after the passing of the time, in our great disappointment, is the SOLID FOUNDATION OF TRUTH. [The] pillars of truth were revealed, and we accepted the foundation principles that have made us what we are--Seventh-day Adventists, keeping the commandments of God and having the faith of Jesus. (The Upward Look, page 352, paragraph 4 Chapter Title: God's Word is True).

"Many of our people do not realize how firmly the foundation of our faith has been laid. My husband, Elder Joseph Bates, Father Pierce, Elder {Hiram} Edson, and others who were KEEN, NOBLE, AND TRUE, were among those who, after the passing of the time in 1844, searched for the truth as for hidden treasure… When they came to the point in their study where they said, "WE can do nothing more," the Spirit of the Lord would come upon me, I would be taken off in vision, and a clear explanation of the passages, WE had been studying would be given me, with instruction as to how WE were to labor and teach effectively. Thus light was given that helped US to understand the scriptures in regard to Christ, His mission, and His priesthood. A LINE OF TRUTH EXTENDING FROM THAT TIME (1844) TO THE TIME WHEN WE SHALL ENTER THE CITY OF GOD, WAS MADE PLAIN TO ME, and I gave to others the instruction that the Lord had given me. What influence is it that would lead men at this stage of our history to work in an underhand, powerful way to tear down the foundation of our faith–the foundation that was laid at the beginning of our work by prayerful study of the Word and revelation? Upon this foundation we have been building for the past fifty years. (Selected Messages bk.1, p. 206-7 1904).

"A LINE OF TRUTH EXTENDING FROM THAT TIME (1844) TO THE TIME WHEN WE SHALL ENTER THE CITY OF GOD, WAS MADE PLAIN TO ME" does not mean we can CHANGE Gods after our prophet dies and expect to make it to into the city of GOD!!!??

Now in 1904 Ms. White points Kellogg to her husband's understanding of “who God is” and tells him also of the other pioneers of the faith. But she is also pointing YOU “brother, sister” to “who God is”. She is pointing to the time after 1844.

What foundation is Kellogg being pointed too? The faith delivered to the saints.

James White in 1846:

“Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for THE faith which was once delivered unto the saints…” (Jude 3, 4) …The exhortation to contend for the faith delivered to the saints, is to us alone. And it is very important for us to know what for and how to contend. In the 4th verse he gives us the reason why we should contend for THE faith, a particular faith; “for there are certain men,” or a certain class who deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.… The way spiritualizers have disposed of or denied the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ is first using the old unscriptural Trinitarian creed, viz., that Jesus Christ is the eternal God, though they have not one passage to support it, while we have plain scripture testimony in abundance that he is the Son of the eternal God.” (James White, January 24, 1846, The Day Star)

Scriptures declare “one God the father, and one Lord Jesus Christ” [1 Cor 8:6]. Ms. White is pointing Kellogg to what her husband and the pioneers believed.

“The inexplicable Trinity that makes the Godhead three in one and one in three, is bad enough; but that ultra Unitarianism that makes Christ inferior to the Father is worse. Did God say to an inferior, “Let us make man in our image?” “(James White, November 29, 1877, Review & Herald) inexplicable = Unable to be explained or accounted for

James White was a blatant non-Trinitarian. Ellen White never once rebuked him. She was never told to stand up against James or any of the other leading brethren who were all non-Trinitarian. If you’re a Trinitarian, do you not find this strange? Ellen White said all the pioneers were in HARMONY and UNITED in TRUTH! That would include her too as being anti-Trinitarian!

The reason I am quoting the above quotes is so you can notice, that Ellen White said the truth that the pioneers had, would go from that time in 1844 till we get to Heaven and enter the city of GOD.

“Those who seek to remove the old landmarks are NOT holding fast; they are not remembering how they have received and heard. Those who try to bring in theories that would remove the pillars of our faith concerning the sanctuary or concerning the personality of God or of Christ, are working as BLIND MEN. They are seeking to bring in uncertainties and to set the people of God adrift without an anchor.” {MR760 9.5} What harbor are we headed to now?

"However kindly or beautiful or apparently profound his sermons or articles may be, when a man has arrived at the place where he teaches the heathen Catholic doctrine of the Trinity, and denies that the Son of God died for us, is he a true Seventh-day Adventist? Is he even a TRUE preacher of the Gospel? And when many regard him as a great teacher and accept his unscriptural theories, absolutely contrary to the Spirit of Prophecy, it is time that the watchmen should sound a note of warning.…" [Portions of a letter written by J. S. Washburn in 1939. This letter was liked by a conference president so much that he distributed it to 32 of his ministers.]

James White said of the Trinity: "Here we might mention the Trinity, which does away the personality of God, and of his Son Jesus Christ, and of sprinkling or pouring instead of being “buried with Christ in baptism,” “planted in the likeness of his death:” but we pass from these fables to notice one that is held sacred by nearly all professed Christians, both Catholic and Protestant. It is, The change of the Sabbath of the fourth commandment from the seventh to the first day of the week." (James White, December 11, 1855, Review & Herald, vol. 7, no. 11, page 85, par. 16)

What serious objection is there to the doctrine of the trinity?

The Trinity has many errors in it. #1, it is unscriptural. #2, It denies Jesus as the divine Son of GOD died for us. #3, it denies that GOD is the Father of Jesus.

New light only serves to enhance & strengthen old light, it does NOT contradict old light. New light does not change/contradict old light. Ellen White warned this would happen here:

The Omega will be of a most startling nature.” (Series B, no. 2, page 16) “The omega will follow, and will be received by those who are not willing to heed the warning God has given.” “I KNEW that the omega would follow in a little while; and I trembled for our people.” (Series B, no. 2, pp. 50, 53)

"Be not deceived; MANY will depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. We have now before us the alpha of this danger. The omega will be of a most startling nature." (Selected Messages bk.1, p. 197 1904)

The departing of the faith on this subject would not just involve a few people but actually it would deceive “many”.

The Omega will follow. This is something that she saw coming. That she said would come “in a little while”. Something that wasn’t a maybe, but a certainty. And those who did not heed the warnings given would accept it. “Many will depart from the faith”.

I have been instructed to warn our people; for many are in danger of receiving theories and sophistries that undermine the foundation pillars of the faith.” {Selected Messages bk. 1 p.196 1904}

Yes, Ellen White warned us it would happen, and because we are asleep and not studying for ourselves, it has been smuggled in under our very noses by our leadership over the years until it was made official in 1980 by Neal Wilson at the General Conference Session! With most of the laity none the wiser, because we are the foolish virgins who are asleep and Laodicean! It's high time to wake up! Jesus is about to come, and I for sure don't want to be left outside the door like the foolish Laodicean virgins who left outside knocking to get in and are denied entrance by Jesus Himself. "Take heed lest these warnings be lightly regarded, and you go far into the paths of worldliness in dress, worldliness of practices, and at last find that the door is shut, and you are outside, a foolish virgin." {MR926 28.4}

"As world church president, Neal Wilson was responsible for... the adoption of a revised statement of the church’s “Fundamental Beliefs” by delegates to the denomination’s world session in 1980,... WORLD CHURCH LEADER: Pastor Neal C. Wilson, a former president of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and the father of current G.C. president Pastor Ted N.C. Wilson, passed to his rest on December 14, 2010 at an assisted living facility in Dayton, Maryland. He was 90 years old."

"There is ANOTHER universal and TRULY CATHOLIC ORGANIZATION, the SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH ." Neal Wilson. Adventist Review, 3/5/1981.

“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” Amos 3:3.

The General Conference leadership were "pursuing a similar course to that of the Roman Catholics" (Manuscript Releases, vol 9, p 179--Letter 53, 1894).

-- The GC was being made "like Rome, the great head of the work" (Manuscript Release #133, p 27--Letter 71, April 8, 1894).

-- And they were already "following in the track of Romanism" (Testimonies to Ministers, p 362).

"The Seventh-day Adventist Church is essentially a hierarchical system..." Record, June 23, 1990, p 2.

"The session [55th General Conference Session in 1990] has demonstrated the hierarchial nature of the church's administrative structure." Record, August 4, 1990, p 2.

"Others have so identified structure with policy and the official hierarchy of the church that change is often viewed as unfaithfulness." Adventist Review, Special Edition, October, 1994, p 51.

"...the structure of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is essentially hierarchical...The pyramid of church organization maintains equilibrium and sustains growth as it reflects the people who comprise it." Record, June 23, 1990, p 4-5.

"The Seventh-day Adventist Church follows a model of organizational order in the church which is modified from the orders of Roman Catholicism, but it retains the same notions of clerical order which separates the members of the Church into two classes--clergy and laity." Messenger, December, 1993, p 2.

"Although it is true that there was a period in the life of the Seventh-day Adventist Church when the denomination took a distinctly anti-Roman Catholic viewpoint, and the term 'hierarchy' was used in a pejorative sense to refer to the papal form of church governance, that attitude on the church's part was nothing more than a manifestation of widespread anti-popery among conservative Protestant denominations in the early part of this century and the latter part of the last, and which has now been consigned to the historical trash heap so far as the Seventh-day Adventist Church is concerned." Equal Employment Opportunity Commission vs Pacific Press Publishing Association and General Conference of SDA, Civil Case #74-2025 CBR (1975), Reply Brief for Defendants, p 4.

"Church documents that prescribe the church's structure and governance confirm that all parts of the church are parts of a single entity. Next to the Roman Catholic church, the Adventist church is the most centralized of all the major Christian denominations in this country." Derrick Proctor vs General Conference of Seventh-day Adventist, case #81 C 4938, Findings of Fact, Section B, Church Objectives and Structures, p 22.

"As is the mother, so is her daughter." Ezekiel 16:44.

"That night I dreamed that I was in Battle Creek looking out from the side glass at the door and saw a company marching up to the house, two and two. They looked stern and determined. I knew them well and turned to open the parlor door to receive them, but thought I would look again. The scene was changed. The company now presented the appearance of a Catholic procession. One bore in his hand a cross, another a reed. And as they approached, the one carrying a reed made a circle around the house, saying three times: 'This house is proscribed. The goods must be confiscated. They have spoken against our holy order.' Terror seized me, and I ran through the house, out of the north door, and found myself in the midst of a company, some of whom I knew, but I dared not speak a word to them for fear of being betrayed. I tried to seek a retired spot where I might weep and pray without meeting eager, inquisitive eyes wherever I turned. I repeated frequently: 'If I could only understand this! If they will tell me what I have said or what I have done!'

"I wept and prayed much as I saw our goods confiscated. I tried to read sympathy or pity for me in the looks of those around me, and marked the countenances of several whom I thought would speak to me and comfort me if they did not fear that they would be observed by others. I made one attempt to escape from the crowd, but seeing that I was watched, I concealed my intentions." Testimonies, vol 1, p 578.

"The General Conference, then is the Seventh-day Adventist church....the embodiment of the remnant church as a Christian denomination, in a unified worldwide organization, to which all baptized Seventh-day Adventists owe spiritual allegiance." EEOC vs PPPA, Civil Case #74-2025 CBR, p 17, Opening Brief.

"Why is there so dim a perception of the true spiritual condition of the church? Has not blindness fallen upon the watchmen standing on the walls of Zion?...Who can truthfully say, 'Our gold is tried in the fire; our garments are unspotted by the world'? I saw our Instructor pointing to the garments of so-called righteousness. Stripping them off, He laid bare the defilement beneath. Then He (Christ) said to me: 'Can you not see how they have pretentiously covered up their defilement and rottenness of character? 'How is the faithful city become an harlot! My Father's house is made a house of merchandise, a place whence the divine presence and glory have departed!'" Testimonies, vol 8, p 248-250 (April 21, 1903).

“On many occasions the Holy Spirit did work; but those who resisted the Spirit of God at Minneapolis were waiting for a chance to travel over the same ground again, because their spirit was the same....But all the universe of heaven witnessed the disgraceful treatment of Jesus Christ, represented by the Holy Spirit. Had Christ been before them, they would have treated him in a manner similar to that in which the Jews treated Christ....

“The Lord is coming; but those who venture to resist the light that God gave in rich measure at Minneapolis, who have not humbled their hearts before God, will follow on in the path of resistance, saying, ‘Who is the Lord that I should obey his voice?’” Series A, #6, p 20, 26.

"What a wonderful work could have been done for the vast company gathered in Battle Creek at the general conference of 1901, if the leaders of our work had taken themselves in hand. But the work that all heaven was waiting to do as soon as men prepared the way was not done; for the leaders closed and bolted the door against the Spirit's entrance....The doors were barred against the Heavenly Current that would have swept away all evil...They built themselves up in wrong doing, and said to the Spirit of God, 'Go thy way for this time; when I have a more convenient season, I will call for thee.'" Battle Creek Letters, p 55-56 (Letter 123, August 23, 1902).

"...what did the brethren in that fearful position in which they stood, reject at Minneapolis? They rejected the latter rain, the loud cry of the third angel's message....

"...the Spirit of the Lord was there to tell them that they were doing it, was it not? But when they were rejecting the loud cry, the teaching righteousness; and then the Spirit of the Lord, by His prophet, stood there and told us what they were doing, what then? Oh! Then they simply set this prophet aside with all the rest." 1893 General Conference Bulletin, p 183.

"Christ calls for unity. But He does not call for us to unify on wrong practices. The God of heaven draws a sharp contrast between pure, elevating, ennobling truth and false, misleading doctrines. He calls sin and impenitence by the right name. He does not gloss over wrongdoing with a coat of untempered mortar. I urge our brethren to unify upon a true, scriptural basis."--Manuscript 10, 1905.

“Some will tend to resist this doctrine (the trinity) because it is not found expressly stated in the scriptures.” Adventist Review Aug 20 1993 P-8

Notice how Ellen White's word's are fulfilled below in "Most Startling"?

“Adventist beliefs have changed over the years under the impact of "present truth." Most startling is the teaching regarding Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Lord. Many of the pioneers, including James White, J. N. Andrews, Uriah Smith, and J. H. Waggoner, held to an Arian or semi-Arian view—that is, the Son at some point in time before the Creation of our world was generated by the Father….Likewise, the Trinitarian understanding of God, now part of our fundamental beliefs, was not generally held by the early Adventists. Even today a FEW do not subscribe to it”. (Adventist Review, January 6, 1994, pp. 10, 11)

Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads to life, and FEW there be that find it. Luke 13:23-24, "Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able."

How many people today believe in the Trinity? Millions upon Millions of people. How many believe like the pioneers of the SDA church? VERY FEW!

“The mystery of the Trinity is the central doctrine of the catholic church. Upon it are based ALL the teachings of the church.” [Handbook for Today's Catholic Page 11] Yes you read it right. The central doctrine of the Catholic church has found its way into God's remnant church.

“Let the brightest example the world has yet seen be your example, rather than the greatest and most learned men of the age, who know not God, nor Jesus Christ whom he has sent. The Father and the Son ALONE are to be exalted.” (Ellen White, The Youth’s Instructor, July 7, 1898) The Trinity belief exalts a "God the Holy Spirit".

"We are God's commandment-keeping people. For the past fifty years every phase of heresy has been brought to bear upon us, to becloud our minds regarding the teaching of the Word--especially concerning the ministration of Christ in the heavenly sanctuary, and the message of Heaven for these last days, as given by the angels of the fourteenth chapter of Revelation. Messages of every order and kind have been urged upon Seventh-day Adventists, to take the place of the truth which, point by point, has been sought out by prayerful study, and testified to by the miracle-working power of the Lord. But the waymarks which have made us what we are, are to be preserved, and they will be preserved, as God has signified through His Word and the testimony of His Spirit. He calls upon us to hold firmly, with the grip of faith, to the fundamental principles that are BASED UPON UNQUESTIONABLE AUTHORITY." 1SM 208

"The church is in the Laodicean state. The presence of Christ is NOT in her midst." EGW-Notebook Leaflets, p 99

"There was a coming out, a decided separation from the wicked, an escape for life. So it was in the days of Noah; so with Lot; so with the disciples prior to the destruction of Jerusalem; and SO IT WILL BE IN THE LAST DAYS. Again the voice of God is heard in a message of warning, bidding His people separate themselves from the prevailing iniquity." Patriarchs and Prophets, p 166.

"I know from the light that God has given me that there should be a revival of the messages that have been given in the past, because men will seek to bring in new theories, and will try to prove that these theories are scriptural, whereas they are error, which, if allowed a place, will undermine faith in the truth. We are not to accept these suppositions and pass them along as truth. No, no; we must not move from the platform of truth on which we have been established." {UL 199 Ellen White}

"The Lord has declared that the history of the past shall be rehearsed as we enter upon the closing work. Every truth that He has given for these last days is to be proclaimed to the world. Every pillar that He has established is to be strengthened. We cannot now step off the foundation that God has established. . . .There is need now to rehearse the experience of the men who acted a part in the establishment of our work at the beginning." Ms 129, 1905 Ellen White

"Not one pin is to be removed from that which the Lord has established. The enemy will bring in false theories… there will be a departing from the faith. WHERE SHALL WE FIND SAFETY UNLESS IT BE IN THE TRUTHS THAT THE LORD HAS BEEN GIVING FOR THE LAST FIFTY YEARS?" {Ellen White RH, May 25, 1905 par. 28}

“When men come in who would move one pin or pillar from the foundation which God has established by His Holy Spirit, let the aged men who were pioneers in our work speak plainly, and let those who are dead speak also, by the reprinting of their articles in our periodicals. Gather up the rays of divine light that God has given as He has led His people on step by step in the way of truth. THIS TRUTH WILL STAND THE TEST OF TIME AND TRIAL.” Ms 62, 1905, p. 6 {A Warning against False Theories, May 24, 1905.} {Ellen White, 1905, Manuscript Releases Volume One, page 55}

Our Lord not does change nor did He change the Message please note the following quotes:

• Those who stand as teachers and leaders in our institutions are to be sound in the faith and in the principles of the third angel's message. God wants His people to know that we have the message as He gave it to us in 1843 and 1844. We knew then what the message meant, and we call upon our people today to obey the word, "Bind up the law among My disciples." In this world there are but two classes,--the obedient and the disobedient. To which class do we belong? (GCB April 1st 1903)

• The warning has come: Nothing is to be allowed to come in that will disturb the foundation of the faith upon which we have been building ever since the message came in 1842, 1843, and 1844. I was in this message, and ever since I have been standing before the world, true to the light that God has given us. We do not propose to take our feet off the platform on which they were placed as day by day we sought the Lord with earnest prayer, seeking for light. Do you think that I could give up the light that God has given me? It is to be as the Rock of Ages. (GCB April 6th 1903)

• We have, as had John, a message to bear of the things which we have seen and heard. God is not giving us a new message. We are to proclaim the message that in 1843 and 1844 brought us out of the other churches. We need the Holy Spirit to kindle in our hearts the zeal and earnestness that were then seen among God's people. I thank the Lord that there are still living a few who can remember those days, and who know whereof they speak. (RH Jan 19th 1905)

• The truths that we received in 1841, '42, '43, and '44 are now to be studied and proclaimed. The messages of the first, second, and third angels will in the future be proclaimed with a loud voice. They will be given with earnest determination and in the power of the Spirit. (15 MR Ltr 75 1905)

• All the messages given from 1840-1844 are to be made forcible NOW, for there are many people who have lost their bearings. The messages are to go to all the churches. {21MR 437.1}(LTR 54 1906)

• God bids us give our time and strength to the work of preaching to the people the messages that stirred men and women in 1843 and 1844. {MR760 30.1} (July 4th 1907)

The following is the Statement of faith that was published in 1874, this statement was not changed until 1931, sixteen years after the death of Ellen White.

"1. That there is one God, a personal, spiritual Being, the Creator of all things, omnipotent, omniscient, and eternal; infinite in wisdom, holiness, justice, goodness, truth, and mercy; unchangeable, and everywhere present by His representative, the Holy Spirit. Psalm 139:7.

2. That there is one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Eternal Father, the One by whom God created all things, and by whom they do consist...."- Signs of the Times, June 4, 1874

The early Adventists were in doctrinal agreement concerning the Trinity for over fifty years. They unanimously rejected that doctrine. Ellen White wrote, "The leading points of our faith as we hold them today [1903] were firmly established. Point after point was clearly defined, and all the brethren came into harmony. The whole company of believers were UNITED in the truth. The Early Years, p. 145) "There were those who came in with strange doctrines, but we were never afraid to meet them. Our experience was wonderfully established by the revelation of the Holy Spirit."—MS 135, 1903."

The pillars of our faith that were sustained by the pioneers over the 50 years before 1905 are now accounted as error. Books of a new order have been written. A new organization established. And it is definitely a system of intellectual philosophy to believe that 1 equals 3 or 3 equals 1. Because it isn’t common sense. The foundation is built on sand as you can see, and the true God is removed and another stands in his place. They cannot have his spirit because they don’t know what it is. So their dependence is on human power alone. And they don’t like to talk about this doctrine because Satan has sought to destroy any chance at a true understanding of him which would give us “all things that pertain unto life and godliness”. This is eternal life to know God and his son.

"Of those who are constantly working to undermine faith in the message God is sending to His people, I am instructed to say, `Come out from among them, and be ye separate' [2 Corinthians 6:17]. Come into light, brethren, and lead others to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Those who in faith accept the leadings of the Spirit of God will see where their dangers lie, and will make decided moves in the right direction." Review and Herald, vol 5, p 435 (July 23, 1908).

The “mystery of iniquity” began to work in the church in Paul’s day. Had they gone on, and onward, till they had left the last vestige of Papacy behind, such as natural immortality, sprinkling, the trinity, and Sunday-keeping, the church would now be free from her unscriptural errors.(James White, February 7, 1856, Review & Herald, vol. 7, no. 19, page 148, par. 26)

"But to hold the doctrine of the trinity is not so much an evidence of evil intention as of intoxication from that wine of which all the nations have drunk. The fact that this was one of the leading doctrines, if not the very chief, upon which the bishop of Rome was exalted to the popedom, does not say much in its favor. This should cause men to investigate it for themselves; " R. F. Cottrell, Review & Herald, July 6, 1869, 'The Trinity'

One of the things that is early engraved in the mind of every Seventh Day Adventist, is the thought that Laodicea is God's church of the last days. As soon as a person joins the Seventh Day Adventist church, he is made to understand that the Seventh Day Adventist church is represented by the seventh of the seven churches mentioned in Revelation chapters 2 and 3, the Laodicean Church. It is not difficult to support this claim, because there are many statements in the writings of Ellen White, which state that the church is in a Laodicean condition, and in which the Seventh Day Adventist church is identified as Laodicea.

“The state of the church represented by the foolish virgins is also spoken of as the Laodicean state.” (EGW Review and Herald, August, 1890)

"Take heed lest these warnings be lightly regarded, and you go far into the paths of worldliness in dress, worldliness of practices, and at last find that the door is shut, and you are outside, a foolish virgin." {MR926 28.4}

The question is this; do the foolish virgins ever get into the kingdom? Never ever! The wise get in but not the foolish!

The class represented by the foolish who took no oil with them, only thought he was coming, and some of them feared that it might be so but still loved this world too well to give it up, that they might obtain true faith.

“Those who claim to believe the truth do not possess that power that God would bestow upon them if they really believed, and WERE STRIVING FOR CONFORMITY to His image. The church is in the Laodicean state. The PRESENCE of God is NOT in her midst.” (EGW Notebook Leaflets, page 99 MS 166 1898) Strive means to make great efforts to achieve or obtain something.

Wait a second. The presence of God is not in her midst?

"To the END OF TIME, the PRESENCE of the Spirit is to abide with the TRUE church." Acts of the Apostles, p. 55

But the presence of God according to the above quote will never leave the true church? If the Conference is Laodicea and the presence of God is not in Laodicea then we can conclude that the conference is not Gods “true church”. So where then can we find the “PRESENCE of God”?

“God has a church. It is not the great cathedral, neither is it the national establishment, neither is it the various denominations; it is THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE GOD AND KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS. “Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matt. 18:20). Where Christ is even among the humble FEW, this is Christ’s church, for the PRESENCE of the High and Holy One who inhabiteth eternity can alone constitute a church” (The Upward Look, p. 315).

So the presence of God dwells in his true church and his presence alone can constitute a church.

Get the oil for your lamp. Did you know that the General Conference of Adventists admits they are Laodicea?

“Today we hesitate to claim we’re the remnant; but as for Laodicea, that’s us! Us alone!...No other Christian group vies with us for the dubious privilege of being identified with it....claiming exclusive rights to Laodicea is not politically incorrect. So, unchallenged, we’ve become anchored in the view that Seventh-day Adventists are the sole group envisioned in the apocalyptic concept of that term.” Adventist Review, August 28, 2008, p 5.

So the General Conference of Seventh Day Adventists are pretty sure of who they are. They are Laodicea. And they are unchallenged about this. But what does the Spirit of Prophecy say in regards to the Laodicean Church? Sister White says they are the foolish virgins who don't buy oil. Oil = The oil is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. Striving to be Perfect or sin-free = Overcomers = 144,000 = Philadelphia = Remnant Church Triumphant=Saints! Sin-free!

“But while God's Word speaks of the humanity of Christ when upon this earth, it also speaks decidedly regarding his pre-existence. The Word existed as a divine being, even as the eternal Son of God, in union and oneness with his Father.” (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, 5th April 1906, ‘The Word made flesh’)

This is very important. Note we are told that the Word pre-existed (meaning prior to Him coming to earth) “even as the eternal Son of God”. This servant of the Lord added “Before men or angels were created, the Word was with God, and was God”. (Ibid)

In ‘The Review and Herald’ in 1907 are found these words

The Son of the infinite God came to this earth, and honored it with his presence. He emptied himself of his glory, and clothed his divinity with humanity, that humanity might touch humanity, and reveal to fallen man the perfect love of God.” (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, 6th June 1907, ‘No other Gods before me’)

There can be no doubt that this is referring to Christ as a Son - in His pre-existence. This is only the same as was written 16 years earlier – which was

“It was necessary that the Son of the infinite God should come to be the light of the world, to be the fountain of healing mercy to a lost race.” (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, 20th January 1891, ‘Co-operation with Christ’)

In the Bible Echo in 1899 was published a letter sent by Ellen White from Australia. In it she wrote

“Was not Christ the greatest teacher the world ever knew? Was He not the Son of the infinite God? and yet He said, "I do nothing of Myself."" (Ellen G. White, The Bible Echo, 18th September 1899, ‘Letter from Sister White’)

There are many quotes from the pen of Ellen White that tell us exactly the same thing – that Christ was the son of ‘the infinite’, meaning a son PRIOR TO THE INCARNATION – but they are far too many to list all of them here. Here though are just some of them.

The Son of the infinite God clothed his divinity with humanity, and submitted to the death of the cross, that he might become a stepping-stone by which humanity might meet with divinity.” (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, 16th January 1894, ‘Students required to be workers with God’)

"God has a church upon the earth who are His chosen people, who keep His commandments. He is leading, not stray offshoots, not one here and one there, but a people. The truth is a sanctifying power; but the church militant is not the church triumphant. There are tares among the wheat. “Wilt thou then that we ... gather them up?” was the question of the servant; but the master answered, “Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.” Matthew 13:28, 29. The gospel net draws not only good fish but bad ones as well, and the Lord only knows who are His.

It is our individual duty to walk humbly with God. We are not to seek any strange, new message. (like the Trinity) We are not to think that the chosen ones of God who are trying to walk in the light compose Babylon. (those who are keeping God's commandments and have the faith of Jesus)

The fallen denominational churches are Babylon. Babylon has been fostering poisonous doctrines, the wine of error. This wine of error is made up of false doctrines, such as the natural immortality of the soul, the eternal torment of the wicked, the denial of the pre-existence of Christ prior to His birth in Bethlehem, and advocating and exalting the first day of the week above God’s holy and sanctified day. These and kindred errors are presented to the world by the various churches, and thus the Scriptures are fulfilled that say, “For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” Testimony Treasures Volume 2, Page 362

“Although the only begotten Son of the infinite God humbled himself and took upon him humanity, his faith wavered not; but under the trial and test, he was equal to the proving of temptation on behalf of humanity.” (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, 24th April 1894, ‘Victory in temptation through Christ’)

“The Son of the infinite God, the Lord of life and glory, descended in humiliation to the life of the lowliest, that no one might feel himself excluded from his presence.” (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, 22nd December 1891, ‘No caste in Christ’)

The Son of the infinite God was the author of our salvation. He covenanted from the first to be man's substitute, and he became man that he might take upon himself the wrath which sin had provoked.” (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, 21st November 1912, ‘Peril of neglecting salvation’)

"While human beings were instituting schemes and methods to destroy him, the Son of the infinite God came to our world to give an example of the great work to be done to redeem and save man.” (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, 21st June 1898, ‘To every man his work’)

“That the Son of the infinite God should bind himself so closely with man was condescension and mercy so wonderful that its mysteries could scarcely be understood.” (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, 30th May 1899, ‘God’s purpose in the gift of His Son’)

“The Son of the infinite God tasted death for every man. He left the royal courts, and clothed His divinity with humanity.” (Ellen G. White, Signs of the Times, 3rd February 1898, ‘Knowing Christ’)

“Christ Himself, the Son of the infinite God, clothed His divinity with humanity, and came to this world to show human beings what they may become by obeying the principles of heaven.” (Ellen G. White, Special Testimonies, Series B No. 7, page 10 ‘A warning and an appeal’ 1906)

“When in the fullness of time the Son of the infinite God came forth from the bosom of the Father to this world, He came in the garb of humanity, clothing His divinity with humanity.” (Ellen G. White, Signs of the Times, 17th May 1905, ‘A teacher sent from God’)

“The One appointed in the counsels of heaven came to the earth as an instructor. He was no less a being than the Creator of the world, the Son of the Infinite God.” (Ellen G. White, Special Testimonies on Education 1897, page 173, ‘The divine teacher’)

“After Adam had sinned, the only means of salvation for the human race was for the Son of the infinite God to give his life that they might have another trial of obedience. What love the Father manifested in behalf of man, erring and disobedient though he was! He "so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."” (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, 15th December 1896, ‘The importance of obedience’)

“The price of man's ransom could be paid only by One equal with God, the spotless Son of the infinite Father.” (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, 20th October 1896, ‘Laboring in the Spirit of Christ’)

Many more quotes such as these could be found. This is the church I belong to by the grace of GOD:

Hebrews 12:23 (KJV) "To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,"

1 Timothy 3:15 (KJV) "But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth."

Romans 16:16 (KJV) "Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you."

Belief in God is simple. Satan is the author of confusion. I know this is a lot to digest, especially if you have never even had any idea that the church we grew up in, the church we love, changed God's on us, and we are none the wiser! Pray about this, and STUDY! Get down on your knees and fast and pray like your very lives depended on it...because it does!

Some may say that this topic of the Godhead is far too much to grasp so they do not bother to make a study of it – but take a look at this counsel “The mind gradually adapts itself to the subjects upon which it is allowed to dwell. If occupied with commonplace matters only, to the exclusion of grand and lofty themes, it will become dwarfed and enfeebled. If never required to grapple with difficult problems or to put to the stretch to comprehend important truths, it will, after a time, almost lose the power of growth." (Ellen G. White, Testimonies Volume 5, page 24, 'Our college')

Surely the latter is something to fear. This is why, as well as the simple things of the gospel, we need to study the deeper things of God. This will strengthen our mind and help us to grow spiritually.

Satan takes advantage of our lack of study. He is always ready to deceive the unwary. Deception and destruction is his aim. The deeper our understanding of the revealed Word of God, the safer we will be.

We were also told in 1890 (again note the title of the article) “God has given us reasoning faculties, and he wants us to use them.” (Ellen G. White, Review & Herald, 10th June 1890, ‘Conditions for Obtaining Eternal Riches’)

Take note of these words

“When the shaking comes, by the introduction of false theories, these surface readers, anchored nowhere, are like shifting sand. They slide into any position to suit the tenor of their feelings of bitterness.” (Ellen White, Manuscript 889, Letter to W. C. White, May 5th 1897)

PPS. If you want to really get some strange answers, you start asking our SDA pastors about the Trinity doctrine. It will just amaze you what comes out of their mouths. They will literally SAY that Jesus is not the Son of God! You will be labeled a heretic, just as the Waldensian's and Huguenot's were, if you believe in the same GOD as James and Ellen White and the early pioneers of the SDA church....guaranteed! Please, please, please, pray, fast and study for yourself!
