Ellen White's First Vision: "Others (majority of Adventists today) rashly denied the light behind them [Historical Pioneer Doctrines], and said that it was not God that had led them out so far. Instead of growing stronger in the light that was shed upon the Adventist movement in the beginning, the modern 501c3 church is backpaddling, attempting to set the prophet off in some other corner at the 2015 GC Session for Fundamental #18. Comments about the belief statement

This belief statement about the role of Ellen G. White was changed during the General Conference session on July 6-7, 2015. Since 1980 the belief statement had been worded this way:

One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is prophecy. This gift is an identifying mark of the remnant church and was manifested in the ministry of Ellen G. White—the Lord’s messenger. Her writings are a continuing and authoritative source of truth which provide for the church comfort, guidance, instruction, correction. They also make clear that the Bible is the standard by which all teaching and experience must be tested.

The small drafting committee was chaired by Dr. Artur Stele, director of the denomination’s Biblical Research Institute (BRI). Along with Rodriguez, the other members of the committee were Dr. Bill Knott, editor of the Adventist Review, and Dr. Gerhard Pfandl, and associate director at BRI. Statement by Stele on changes to Fundamental Beliefs: “Looking at all the changes,” he said, “I must say there are none that bring anything new to our beliefs. This is what we have always believed. The commission only sought to express this better and help to avoid possible misinterpretations.”

In the previous version, Ellen White’s writings were described as a continuing and authoritative source of truth”; in the current version her writings are said to “speak with prophetic authority”. According to the Seventh-day Adventist North America Division News Release on the subject of the changes in this statement of belief (July 12, 2015), “There were no changes in the revisions adopted last week that (add to or change the meaning of the prior statements).” Interestingly, this particular news release is no longer accessible online, although it is referenced in an article in Adventist Today.

This same Adventist Today article, referencing the now-unavailable news release from July 12, explains the changes this way: Some felt that the prior version gave Adventist Church cofounder Ellen G. White authority comparable to that of the Bible. Changes were made to remove this potential ambiguity. White herself emphasizes that her authority is subject to the Scriptures. Statement of confidence in EGWs writings At the same July, 2015, General Conference session where the Fundamental Belief #18 was “softened” in its wording, delegates received a “Statement of Confidence in the Writings of Ellen G. White” in their agendas. On July 7, this statement was adopted as an official affirmation of the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s confidence in Ellen White, 3 apparently as an attempt to offset concerns that omitting “source of truth” would be seen to weaken White’s authority. The statement says: As delegates to the 2015 General Conference Session in San Antonio, Texas, we express our deep gratitude to God for the continuing presence of the various spiritual gifts among His people (1 Cor 12:4-11; Eph 4:11-14), and particularly for the prophetic guidance we have received through the life and ministry of Ellen G. White (1827-1915). On the centennial of her death, we rejoice that her writings have been made available around the globe in many languages and in a variety of printed and electronic formats. We reaffirm our conviction that her writings are divinely inspired, truly Christ-centered, and Bible-based. Rather than replacing the Bible, they uplift the normative character of Scripture and correct inaccurate interpretations of it derived from tradition, human reason, personal experience, and modern culture. We commit ourselves to study the writings of Ellen G. White prayerfully and with hearts willing to follow the counsels and instructions we find there. Whether individually, in the family, in small groups, in the classroom, or in the church, a combined study of the Bible and her writings provide a transforming and faith-uplifting experience. In case someone missed it, notice that the amended statement removes the phrases “the Lord’s messenger” and “a continuing and authoritative source of truth.” This new wording that eliminates “continuing and authoritative source of truth” indicates that the writings of Ellen White are no longer considered applicable and relevant for today. Essentially, the leaders approved and the delegates voted that Ellen White’s writings have discontinued as an authoritative source of truth.

Let us now analyze the other phrase that was expunged from Fundamental Belief 18, “the Lord’s messenger.” Firstly, it is important that we understand, that this is more than just the changing of syntax. Secondly, we need to determine where exactly this title came from. Was it simply devised by Seventh-day Adventist leaders? Or was it selected by Ellen White herself? Pastor, I believe you have a statement that speaks to this. See more below.

Hilari: Welcome to Prophetic Insights. I’m Hilari Henriques.

Pastor: Hello, I’m Pastor Andrew Henriques.

Hilari: We will be analyzing and discussing the implications of the revision to Seventh-day Adventist Fundamental Belief Number 18 dealing with the Spirit of Prophecy as exercised by Ellen White.

Pastor: With all the excitement and passion surrounding the Women’s Ordination issue leading up to and during the 2015 General Conference session of Seventh-day Adventists, very little attention has been given to the resolution that was not only proposed, but also accepted, that utterly demotes the Spirit of Prophecy, the writings of Ellen White, and thus fulfills the very last deception of Satan.

Hilari: You are absolutely right Pastor. Not many Seventh-day Adventists are even aware of this resolution; and for those that are aware, they scarcely understand what it truly means. To give our viewers some background information, on July 7, 2015, at the General Conference session held in San Antonio, Texas, it was accepted by majority vote that a change be made in the wording of Fundamental Belief Number 18. The rephrasing, as we will see, significantly devalues the prophetic gift and the writings of Ellen White. The amended version to Fundamental Belief 18 reflects the growing contempt and downward progression in the attitude that Seventh-day Adventist denominational leaders and members generally have toward the writings of Ellen White. Let us look at the belief statement before it was amended:

“One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is prophecy. This gift is an identifying mark of the remnant church and was manifested in the ministry of Ellen G. White. As the Lord’s messenger, her writings are a continuing and authoritative source of truth which provide for the church comfort, guidance, instruction, and correction. They also make clear that the Bible is the standard by which all teaching and experience must be tested.”1

The following is the revised statement from the Annual Council that was voted upon and passed at the 2015 General Conference session. “The Scriptures testify that one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is prophecy. This gift is an identifying mark of the remnant church and we believe it was manifested in the ministry of Ellen G. White. Her writings speak with prophetic authority and provide comfort, guidance, instruction, and correction to the church. They also make clear that the Bible is the standard by which all teaching and experience must be tested.”2 It is reported that “the delegates voted the Belief as presented.”3 In a video, David Gates also gave a first-hand report of the changes that were made to Fundamental Belief 18. 4

Pastor: Yes, it is taken from Selected Messages, Book 1. It reads: “I have had no claims to make, only that I am instructed that I am the Lord’s messenger; that He called me in my youth to be His messenger, to receive His word, and to give a clear and decided message in the name of the Lord Jesus. Early in my youth I was asked several times, Are you a prophet? I have ever responded, I am the Lord’s messenger. I know that many have called me a prophet, but I have made no claim to this title. My Savior declared me to be His messenger.”5 Ms 63a, 1906 (May 26, 1906) par. 6

Pastor: It is clear that no human gave this title to Ellen White, but God Himself declared thus of his servant. Therefore no human has the authority to change or remove this title. We are not to add or to take away from God’s word. There is a fearful woe pronounced upon any person who approves of and votes to remove or change what God has declared. According to Revelation 22:18 and 19 “… If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” The principles in this scripture also pertain to the writings of Ellen White.

Pastor: I do not want to exhaust this point, but I have another statement, a second witness that testifies that the title, “the Lord’s messenger” is not an earthly title, but a heavenly one, given to Ellen White by God Himself. Up until her death, Ellen White was known to be the “Lord’s Messenger,” but now in 2015, the denomination has voted that she is not the “Lord’s Messenger.” May the Lord help us! Notice this statement. “For half a century I have been the Lord’s messenger, and as long as my life shall last I shall continue to bear the messages that God gives me for His people. I take no glory to myself.”6 Lt 86, 1906 (March 8, 1906) par. 3

Hilari: It must not be forgotten that these changes were first proposed and then approved by Adventist leaders at the Annual Council in 2014, and then sent to the 2015 General Conference session to be voted upon, and then approved by majority vote.

Pastor: Right. The subtle and ongoing demotion of the Spirit of Prophecy, the writings of Ellen White, which has finally, in 2015, culminated in the outright rejection of it, is strikingly reminiscent of the era of spiritual darkness in which God’s seventh-day Sabbath was progressively and methodically downgraded at frequently held councils, and finally discarded altogether, while Sunday was correspondingly exalted, and finally hailed as “the Lord’s day.” This is what has been happening for quite some time now—the writings of Ellen White have been viewed as a relic of the past and demoted lower and still lower, while man’s opinions, not the Bible, have been exalted to a position in which they supersede the Bible.

“Vast councils were held from time to time, in which the dignitaries of the church were convened from all the world. In nearly every council the Sabbath which God had instituted was pressed down a little lower, while the Sunday was correspondingly exalted. Thus the pagan festival came finally to be honored as a divine institution, while the Bible Sabbath was pronounced a relic of Judaism, and its observers were declared to be accursed.”7

Pastor: As mentioned before, the rejection of the Spirit of Prophecy, as indicated in the voted resolution, did not just happen all of a sudden and with no prior indicators; it has been happening and can be traced back even to Ellen White’s day and it has continued even to the present. Have we forgotten that just 10 (2005 GC SESSION) years ago, again at a General Conference session, the delegates voted that Ellen White’s writings cannot “define our [Seventh-day Adventists] faith and practice?”8

Hilari: Let us look at and scrutinize the first part of the voted resolution in connection with the latter statement that you just referenced. In an article that I have here from The Adventist Review, the author states that “the resolution notes that ‘the study of Mrs. White’s writings ‘will constantly lead the Church back to the Bible as the very foundation of faith and practice…’ Dr. Angel Manuel Rodriguez added that the gift exercised by Ellen G. White ‘can enrich but not define our faith and practice.’”9

Pastor: Hold it right there. Did we catch that? The first part you read stated that Mrs. White’s writings will lead the church back to the Bible. If this is the case, her writings should define both the faith and practice of Seventh-day Adventists. Since it has been voted that Ellen White’s writings cannot be used to define the faith and practice of Seventh-day Adventists, then the implications are that her writings should not be consulted in matters of faith or practice. What good are her writings then? Is that not a blatant rejection of the Testimony of Jesus?

Hilari: This is indeed a direct assault upon the authority of the writings of Ellen White, relegating her writings to merely optional reading.

Pastor: The very writings of Ellen White that are being cast aside, and whose counsels are being trodden upon by those for whom they were sent to save, prophesied that this rejection would take place, and that it is Satan’s studied plan to weaken the faith of God’s people in the Spirit of Prophecy, which will finally lead to their going into perdition. Unfortunately Satan has been very successful in his assault against the writings of Ellen White. Consider the following statement.

“Satan is . . . constantly pressing in the spurious–to lead away from the truth. The very last deception of Satan will be to make of none effect the testimony of the Spirit of God. ‘Where there is no vision, the people perish’ (Proverbs 29:18). Satan will work ingeniously, in different ways and through different agencies, to unsettle the confidence of God’s remnant people in the true testimony. There will be a hatred kindled against the testimonies which is satanic. The workings of Satan will be to unsettle the faith of the churches in them, for this reason: Satan cannot have so clear a track to bring in his deceptions and bind up souls in his delusions if the warnings and reproofs and counsels of the Spirit of God are heeded.”10

Hilari: Since it is markedly evident that the writings of Ellen White have been rejected at a denominational level, it cannot be doubted that the results of doing such will follow in rapid succession, which are explained in the following quotation from Testimonies for the Church, Volume Four.

“It is Satan’s plan to weaken the faith of God’s people in the Testimonies. Next follows skepticism in regard to the vital points of our faith, the pillars of our position, then doubt as to the Holy Scriptures, and then the downward march to perdition. When the Testimonies, which were once believed, are doubted and given up, Satan knows the deceived ones will not stop at this; and he redoubles his efforts till he launches them into open rebellion, which becomes incurable and ends in destruction.”11

Pastor: That statement is truly startling and sobering as it shows the progression from one stage of sin, beginning with the loss of faith in the Testimonies, to another, ending in open rebellion against God. And for any individual that doubts that the rejection of the Lord’s Messenger will ultimately lead to “open rebellion, which becomes incurable and ends in destruction,” I refer him/her to the accounts of ancient Israel. “And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place: But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy” 2 Chronicles 36:15 and 16. “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate” Matthew 23:37 and 38.

Hilari: As Christ has declared of His people, who finally divorced themselves from Him, “O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself…” Hosea 13:9. The very means that God sent to save them, they rejected, and thus will be the case of all who reject the writings of Ellen White. I believe that a primary reason that the erroneous resolution concerning the Spirit of Prophecy was accepted at the 2015 General Conference session was to make clear the position that the Spirit of Prophecy is not on the same level of inspiration as the Bible. This is absolutely nonsensical; either Ellen White’s writings are inspired or uninspired.

Pastor: Amen! What you just said brings to mind another compelling statement which reads: “I know your danger. If you lose confidence in the testimonies you will drift away from Bible truth. I have been fearful that many would take a questioning, doubting position, and in my distress for your souls I would warn you…God and Satan never work in copartnership. The testimonies either bear the signet of God or that of Satan. A good tree cannot bring forth corrupt fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. By their fruit ye shall know them. God has spoken. Who has trembled at His word?”12

Hilari: Since denominationally, Seventh-day Adventists have voted that the writings of Ellen White are no longer authoritative or a continuing source of truth, and that Ellen White is no longer “the Lord’s messenger,” it is imperative that on a individual level each person make sure that he/she holds fast to the gift that God has so graciously given to His people, through the writings of Ellen White. I would ask you to examine yourself and make earnest inquiry as to how you are treating this gift, the writings of Ellen White.

Pastor: We are going to close on a very serious note because what has been voted is not something that should be taken lightly. Listen to this quotation: “One thing is certain: Those Seventh-day Adventists who take their stand under Satan’s banner will first give up their faith in the warnings and reproofs contained in the Testimonies of God’s Spirit.”13 Jesus is now saying to us “turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?”

"If you had made God’s word your study, with a desire to reach the Bible standard and attain to Christian perfection, you would not have needed the Testimonies. It is because you have neglected to acquaint yourselves with God’s inspired Book that He has sought to reach you by simple, direct testimonies, calling your attention to the words of inspiration which you had neglected to obey, and urging you to fashion your lives in accordance with its pure and elevated teachings.

The Lord designs to warn you, to reprove, to counsel, through the testimonies given, and to impress your minds withthe importance of the truth of His word. The written testimonies are not to give new light, but to impress vividly upon the heart the truths of inspiration already revealed. At some point during the day, the 2015 GC nominating committee is likely to interrupt the business session to announce its nomination of the General Conference president for 2015 to 2020. The candidate, like all nominated candidates, must be approved by the delegates in session.

“What Might Have Been,” about church cofounder Ellen G. White’s 1903 vision on what could have happened at the 1901 General Conference session if delegates had humbled themselves and allowed an outpouring of the Holy Spirit which is the Spirit of Christ that the 1888 leaders closed and bolted the door against the Spirit of Christ. The leaders of the day in 1901-1903 and onward were setting up the NEW MOVEMENT, the "modern" changed SDA movement to be like Rome, with a Pope, one man at its head instead of a committee of 25 men making decisions.

The Lord desired to come near to them, to bless them and heal them of their backslidings, but they would not hearken. They were actuated by the same spirit that inspired Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. Those men of Israel were determined to resist all evidence that would prove them to be wrong, and they went on and on in their course of disaffection until many were drawn away to unite with them. Who were these? Not the weak, not the ignorant, not the unenlightened. In that rebellion there were two hundred and fifty princes famous in the congregation, men of renown. What was their testimony? "all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the Lord is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the Lord?" [Num. 16:3]. When Korah and his companions perished under the judgment of God, the people whom they had deceived saw not the hand of the Lord in this miracle. The whole congregation the next morning charged Moses and Aaron, "Ye have killed the people of the Lord" [verse 41], and the plague was upon the congregation, and more than fourteen thousand perished. When I purposed to leave Minneapolis, the angel of the Lord stood by me and said: "Not so; God has a work for you to do in this place. The people are acting over the rebellion of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. I have placed you in your proper position, which those who are not in the light will not acknowledge; they will not heed your testimony; but I will be with you; My grace and power shall sustain you. The very last deception of Satan will be to make of none effect the testimony of the Spirit of God. “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18). Satan will work ingeniously, in different ways and through different agencies, to unsettle the confidence of God's remnant people in the true testimony.—Letter 12, 1890. 1SM 48.3

There will be a hatred kindled against the testimonies which is satanic. The workings of Satan will be to unsettle the faith of the churches in them, for this reason: Satan cannot have so clear a track to bring in his deceptions and bind up souls in his delusions if the warnings and reproofs and counsels of the Spirit of God are heeded.—Letter 40, 1890. 1SM 48.4

If you read Principles of Ecclesiastical Law you will realize that all corporations on Earth are subject to the Roman Curia and the Roman Pontiff.

These corporations--- IBM, Exxon, Pepsi-Cola-----things which we personify much as we do the Church, are not really things. They are organizations of men. Many of these organizations of men don't realize that their corporate charter is issued by the Pope, but, in the end, so it is. The Roman Curia invented corporations as an entire concept---- foundations, trusts, cooperatives---you name it, they invented it. They hold the patent of patents on the fictional world. It is their enchilada entirely. And, as such, they are responsible for it, by Maxim of Law.

This includes all the "non-profits", the 501c3's that "think" they are or ONCE WERE, Protestant denominations. But when they partook of Satan's dangled carrot, they became "CATHOLIC" and are now hopelessly trapped. You can't discriminate against a minority group, like woman's ordination - the Bible does not teach that women should be ordained ministers, another minority group, LBGTQ: Lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender, queer/questioning. Gender identity: A person's sense of their own identity as a female (girl or woman), a male (a boy or man), or other gender (for example, transgender, bi-gender or gender queer which is a rejection of the traditional binary view of gender). If you tell what the Bible teaches about this today in any 501c3 denomination you will have your non-profit status revoked and be liable for all back taxes, interest and penalties back to the original filing date. This would bankrupt the church who has been bound and gagged by the corporation and the Federal 501c3 IRS. The tax status a 501c3 provides. They did not need to ask the government for something they already possessed as an inalienable right from God.

It gets so much deeper. It is the mark of the Beast, for anyone to adopt doctrines in common with the Papacy like the Trinity, Sunday worship, immortality of the soul, Eucharist, the belief that we cannot be sin free, etc.. These are counterfeit doctrines setup to deceive the whole world and keep them from obeying the plain law of God found in Exodus 20.

Bottom line, we need Jesus. The TRUE Jesus. There is also another Jesus! Yes, hard to believe, but there is a counterfeit Jesus. See 2 Cor 11:3-4.

This counterfeit Jesus name is Tammuz, born on Dec 25th. The TRUE Jesus was born in the Spring, the time when the Spring lambs were born, around the last of March and the beginning of April.
