Miracle Beach is the most emblematic Tarragona beach of all. It is the closest to the urban centre of the city and the one that offers us a view of the sea from the Balcó del Mediterrani (Mediterranean Balcony) . It is located on Passeig Rafel de Casanova (Promenade) and connects the Serrallo seafaring district with Fortí de la Reina, beside the sea.

The legend says that one day a lion was walking along the beach and could hardly walk, a thorn had stuck in the sole of his foot. A Christian who saw him pulled out the thorn and healed him. After some time, the Christian was condemned to die in the arena of the amphitheatre, devoured by lions. Due to the coincidences of life, the lion he had healed happened to be there and licked his feet after smelling and recognizing him. The Christian was pardoned, and the town named the beach Miracle Beach.
Before reaching the fort, the poem "A Tarragona" by the dean poetess of our city: Olga Xirinacs, is engraved on a large slab of limestone.
Playa del Miracle ends with a small headland on top of which stands Fortí de la Reina, a military construction created in the s. XVIII, as a means of defense of the city of Tarragona in the War of Succession along the coast. Fortí de la Reina was declared a National Heritage Site.
Next to the Fortí and on Passeig Rafel de Casanova, we find the non-Catholic cemetery, popularly called “Cementiri dels Jans”.
