The Birth Of Civilization

As decades turned into century's countless Squibbion's came and went across the Northern Forest. So many Squibbion's came and went that one could spend almost forever talking about the lives of the countless men and woman young and old or hero's and cowards how lived felt and died.

Squibbion villages continued to grow as villages grew from 20 to 40 to 60 as the Squibbion's reached the population milestone of 500,000.

It wouldn't be long until larger Squibbion villages would begin to absorb smaller community's creating larger and larger community's.

As the first community's of over 100 began to appear a shift began to happen as communal egalitarian leadership began to be replaced with new centralized leadership similar to what humans would recognize as kings or emperor's.

With larger community's larger villages were built. The need to build larger structures lead to the first use of stone and metal as building structures with the use of Squibbion laborers and domestic Tentacle Horn's swaths of the Northern Forest were converted into the first large scale civilizations.

An example of the peek of Squibbion civilization at this time a city such as this would house up to thousands of individuals.

A major thing that arouse from the advent of larger city's was the advent of Religion's. Spirits and gods hade existed in Squibbion's almost as long as they had been sentient however these beliefs were limited to Squibbion troop's ancient Squibbion were very isolated so it was hard for Squibbion's beliefs to spread between troop

With there civilization's general trend towards globalization of the Northern Forest religious ideas were far easier to spread and gain traction across Villages.

The change in the way Squibbion's lived helped spread religion similar to early Christianity ideas of riches and peace in after life helped provide closer and peace of mind for the common working Squibbion. As such Squibbion's in ruling position used this to there advantage and began to adopt certain popular religions preaching about gods demons beasts and angles sinner's and saints to the masses well shunning other religion' calling them false gods or barbaric creatures. These lead to a collection of city states across the Northern Forest each adopting a certain religion each thinking that they were the pinnacle of Squibbion civilization were fights and wars over religion were not uncommon.

A symbolic painting of a Squibbion creation story in a certain popular religion in a time were many Squibbion's are unable to read or write coupled with the Squibbion's being a visually oriented species art and paintings are a common way to convey story's and ideas.

With the advent of modern civilization came the advent of new technology with metal now begin commercially used for the first time in 220 million years metal tools such as scythes, sickles, shovels, and plows along with more Squibbion's to help in labor allowed for the use of large scale agriculture for the first time at the outskirt's of Squibbion city's water diverted from the many rivers lakes and swamp's of the Northern Forest watered vast fields of ferns berry's and Lichen Tree's body's of water provided water full of Riceweed Silverswimmer's and fresh water Sharks the gentle bellows of Bosquid and the clucking of Blish Fowl echoed from there pen's.

Civilization also lead to advancement's in science and culture the advent of the first common written forms of writing the first calendars and the discovery of more abstract concepts such as math astronomy science and philosophy.

But of course larger civilization also had its dark side the wars were now bigger and deadlier with more advanced metal weapon's such as lances, spears, bows and arrows, and shields. With civilization came the increase in inequality with most Squibbion's leaving poor and under the control of a few wealthy leaders. Even if those Squibbion's living in the smaller ancestral community's weren't safe from this as City states saw them a barbaric wild Squid's that had to be driven away killed or assimilated. Oppression, Loss of freedom, Abuse, War, Genocide, Corruption, and Animal Abuse, all increased with Civilization.

However for downtrodden Squibbion's there was one place left to go out. Out of the Northern Forest to the strange flat treeless lands that lay beyond the Northern Forest. For nearly a million years the Squibbion's were terrified of what lay beyond the Northern Forest without trees to swing in the Squibbion's were practically defenseless and thus never went anywhere near the grasslands. However the Squibbion's now had Cephalope's to ride Squid Dogs to protect and scout wagon's to carrie supply clothing and blanket's to stay warm in the nights and the ability to store food and water in container's.

The Squibbion's could leave the cradle of the Northern Forest behind and now spread out to new and greater things.
