Kraken Cats

Kraken cats (Tetrateuthids) are a family of quadruped predatory Neck Snares native to the coastal forests.

They represent a midway point in Neck Snare biology being larger than The Linlolligo and its kin but much lighter built than their closest relative the Saber Squid and thus hunt smaller Cephalopes and tall but lightly built Strideraptors.

Their fast ambush predators use their last limb pair held off the ground to anchor themselves to prey and kill it with a bite to the throat or head with their powerful beaks and large hooked claws on the end of their almost nonexistent mouth tentacles.

We’ve already seen the Kracougar of the east coast forest it is the one that has dispersed the most from the southern forests where they first evolved and where the rest of the group still lives.

The largest of them is the Tigraken at 300 pounds found across the southern part of the coastal highlands.

Marked with stripes and dapples it blends in well with the dense forest that it prefers for habitat.

Although it is greenish brown unlike actual tigers Tera Squid have better color vision than mammals it is still an ambush hunter of prey close to its size with the majority of its diet being of the Qdeer although it will also take Rapduckens, Schalicos, and Foxskin descendant Vice Mouths.

They are the least common of all Kraken cats as they only inhabit relatively dense woodlands compared to the Kracougar and Panthraken.

Smaller at around 150 pounds the Panthraken is the most specialized of the Kraken Cats. Like the others, it is an ambush predator but spends the most time in trees of the group preferring to pounce from above.

Its beak is the most specialized. Very large with a prominent grove at the front. The lower half is flattened letting the upper half move down on it like a hydraulic press when the Panthraken opens its mouth.

This gives it the strongest bite force for its size among any Tera Squid letting it snap the necks of Cephalopes and Stride Raptors but also the spines of smaller Blish and Tera Squids like the Tigraken is isn't peculiar about what prey it eats.
