Pangea's 2's Fresh Water Environment's

Despite all the rain the continent receives from the global oceans powerful Hypercanes that slam into the continent Pangea 2 is actually quite dry compared to modern day. Why this is for a couple of reasons the main reason is that the rain clouds don't reach far enough inland leaving most of the continent as grassland and desert that get very little rainfall a year.

On the other hand the planets coasts bare the full brunt of the Hypercanes with the northern forest receiving up to 11,000 millimeters of rain a year with rain falling ever day for half the year during Hypercane season.

This extreme rainfall often leads to flooding during Hypercane season as rivers lakes and swamps swell past there borders and flood the lowling underbrush creating large patches of sunlit freshwater meadows and opening waterways to the ocean.

Naturally the opening of water ways to the ocean allows many of the oceans creatures such as Silverswimmer's and Squidtaceans to find there way inland from brackish estuary's only to be trapped when Hypercane season ends and the waters recede.

As such much of the Northern Forest's Freshwater inhabitants are descended from ocean fauna that have adapted to the freshwater environment which are well known by the Squibbion's that they share the environment with.

Riverine Silverswimmer ( Carcinopiscis Flumenvivus) About the size of a modern trout Riverine Silverswimmer's are the most common creature found in across the Northern Forest's river's lakes and swamps. Riverine Silverswimmer's are generalist's feeding on small animals in the water mainly insect larva  by scoping them in using there front claws then griding them down with there mouth part's. Riverine Silverswimmer's form the base of the freshwater food chain being fed upon by many animals such as larger Silverswimmer's River Dolphin Squids Wading Blish. Squibbion's use them as a major source of protein catching them on boats in the hundreds using large reed woven net's.

Giant Riverine Silverswimmer ( Flumenmonstrum Gigas) A true monster of the River's the Giant Riverine Silverswimmer grows up to 2.1-2.2 Meters (6.8-7.2 Feet) putting it in contention with jaekelopterus for the largest arthropod to ever exist.  Using it's powerful bone breaking claw's the Giant Riverine Silverswimmer is an ambush predator sitting just submerged beneath the water waiting for unsuspecting animals to come near them once it chooses a target it push's upwards with it's tail it grips down on the prey with it's claws before dragging it's victim down to the water not even Vicemouth's or Necksnare's are safe from The Grip Of Death as the Squibbion's have coined it.  Squibbion's are well aware of the danger this beast's posses many a pre sapient Squibbon fell victim to the Grip Of Death. Fortunately there reenforced wooden boats used to travel the water ways usually keep them safe however young Squibbion's first lesson when there old enough to join the rest of there family on the boat is to never ever lean over the edge and to never travel on the water alone.

Siltswimmer (Imumpastio Limushabitaculum) The Siltswimmer are small Horseshoe Crab sized bottom feeder's found across both fresh and salt water environments feeding across anything that they find on the bottom of the water colum from plant's to carcasses to dead mater and fesses sucking it into there mouth part's . The Siltswimmer has converge on many ancient arthropods revolving the hard exoskeleton that Silverswimmer's lost for a finer prawn like shell to let them be lighter in the water they also there tail as they mature from larva as adults there now unable to swim. Although Squibbion's will eat them if the opportunity precents itself there bottom dwelling nature means Squibbion's see them less then Riverine Silverswimmer's on top of that there harder shells makes them harder to open and give's less meat then Riverine Silverswimmer's as such there only eaten when there's not much food left leading to the saying " Someone should tell (insert Squibbon name ) to get the Siltswimmer's ready" used by fisher man when fishing is partially slow today.

Riceweed  ( Progeniooryza Aquaschoenus) Found across any water way in Pangea 2 Riceweed is the Extraordinary descendent of Asian Rice Oryza Sativa. Asian Rice once on of the most commonly cultivated foods on the planet survived in small populations in Asia along the Yangtze River  following humans leaving the planet. By 50 MYH as sea levels rose and the Yangtze River basin flooded and Asian Rice was forced to adapt. Rice was already semi aquatic so adapting to deeper water was easier for it to handle then for other plants the stems became Leafless and fully submerged with only the panicle sitting above water. Riceweed reproduce once a year a few days before the start of the Hypercane season when they release there seeds into the water so when the deluge begins the flood waters carry them to new locations when the water's recced some may be washed out to see but others will wash into the silty bottom of lakes river's and swamps were they will germinate into knew plant's. Riceweed is another staple food that Squibbion's eat as it is an excellent source of carbohydrate's so they grains are cultivated on mass during flood season.

River Dolphin Squid ( Lolligocetus Dulcisaqua) The River Dolphin Squid is descended from the Dolphin Squid " Lolligocetus Celeritribuo"  that got marooned in the Northern Forest's river's 10 million years ago and have adapted to there new habitat. Because that water in the river's is substantially  murkier then the ocean the River Dolphin Squid has a strong nerve's along the end of it's fascial tentacle's that they use to since prey along the riverbed. The River Dolphin Squid hunt small animals in the river's such as Riverine Silverswimmer's and Siltswimmer's grabbing them with there conical tentacle hooks before crushing them in it's beak it is better at this then the Giant Riverine Silverswimmer do to there cuttlebone derived spine structed allowing them to better navigate the the murky water and fields of Riceweed. Shy creatures River Dolphin Squids are rarely seen by Squibbion's it's often considered lucky to see the shape of one in the water or a glimpse of one as it comes up for air.
