CE Addon
Im probably going to make a video on this. Anyways, Leafia wants to deprecate the classic NTM Cursed Edition fork. A lot of you probably think that sounds like bullshit. "Smidge, I cant live without angular DFC Lasers" Well Leafia has released this "Community Edition Addon" thats meant to got with Warfactory's "NTM Community Edition". I think its fucking stupid, though it seems like all fucking heaven and shit.
NTM CE

NTM Community Edition, or CE for short is supposed to be as complete of the classic HBMs Nuclear Tech Mod to 1.12.2 as 1.7.10 is fucking bullshit. 1.7.10 is missing a bunch of essential fucking features and well, its fucking nonsense. Especially since F3 doesnt fucking show the damn block IDs, and HBM regular block IDs are fucking bullshit. "hbm.tile.dfc.blahblahblahfuckoff" thats fucking guff. Its like fucking sticking your fucking hand down a fucking paper shredder, so itd be much nicer on 1.12.2. The thing is, regular NTM is what HBM believes to be best, and Bobcat the developer is just too fucking lazy to port the mod. As he said in the FAQ hes not gonna fucking bother porting it as its bullshit. He said its fucking lame as shit, and look at all the other ports, especially the ones to newer versions. NTM Extended isnt even fucking complete, its missing a bunch of features, and thats why people think its fucking slop, and theres been people trying to port it to new versions like 1.20.x versions, but they barely have any fucking content and theyre basically fucking unusable. There is basically only batteries and some fucking RBMK components, without anything to use with them, theyre completely fucking useless. The only "good" forks of NTM or ones that are acceptable are the ones on 1.12.2. If Im right, NTM was originally developed 10 years ago, yes I joined at the perfect time and have procrastinated being too fucking lazy to fucking make a video for that. HBM says he only makes NTM solely because he likes doing it, otherwise thered be no fucking point. Yes, he doesnt give a fuck if theres 3 idiots whos heads are glued to their asses that are the only people fucking left to play the mod. Since NTM has such a vibrant community, almost as if HBM were doing it for money, the mod is open source, meaning people can make "forks" of it where they modify it or port it to other versions. People generally dont like the regular version as Bob wont listen to any of the users. In the Discord, the rules state that theyll fucking mute anyone who even bothers to fucking suggest or ask for ports of the mod, making people think he is lazy. In that same FAQ, he told people who have suggestions to stick it all down a paper shredder. Warfactory has chosen to port the mod over because some people wanted to see a port of the mod, a proper full on port of the mod.
The issues with the classic 1.7.10
There are actually 2 forks I know of on 1.7.10. The regular NTM release and NTM Space from JameH2. The problem with the regular HBM version is that Bobcat doesnt really give a fuck. He only makes the mod because he wants to make things and likes doing it, not listening to and taking feedback from a community. Like I said, even if there were only 3 weird people left who would ever play NTM, he wouldnt give a fuck. However, that is unlikely as NTM was very successful, but audiences for videos of it, especially mine, are sadly quite niche and may require me to get more into the NTM community. The regular NTM does not take any community insight at all. As I said, the Discord server has rules that say theyll fucking mute anyone who fucking asks for ports or gives suggestions, which is quite harsh. Clearly people have tried to send Bob suggestions, and he just doesnt fucking want it. Zuphrus a while back had suggested NFPA diamond stickers to go onto fluid ducts, but he never wrote back. Then Zuphrus, the same suggestor, had suggested magnetic fluid ducts for 528 mode, but HBM wrote back with simply "no" in the body and fuck all else and then he just closed the ticket. He also wont port the mod to newer versions as he doesnt give a fuck to and finds it boring. He will do it if he wants to, but porting is not on that list. People have wanted many things, and hes even thought of them, like trains, but that was a massive shitfuck that couldnt fucking get anywhere, so he just fucking canned the fucking concept.
The community does it instead.
There are countless forks of NTM. Theres NTM Extended, NTM Space, theres a fucking shitload, some add more, some remove features as the developer was too fucking lazy to port those. Alcater made NTM Extended, which is actually a competent fork for 1.12.2, and theres NTM Space which adds space exploration features to NTM. Theres also NTM Reloaded, which is basically NTM Extended really, its not a definitive fork, theres a bunch of other ports too, and theyre not even complete. Theyre missing half the fucking features, and anything that is in there is completely fucking useless with absolutely nothing to do with them. You can see why porting is so fucking hard, and NTM Community seems to have taken several months to port. Bob would not like to try that out, so thats not happening. Bobs not doing it, the fans will do it instead.
NTM Extended
Alcater made NTM Extended, which isnt a terrible fork of NTM, and I had preferred it, for light, colorable FEnSUs, more vibrant DFC animations compared to the lazy, rushed, and bland DFC animations of the regular 1.7.10 NTM. Then theres the Cryogel textures, Zuphrus says that the cryogel textures on the regular NTM look ass, which I cant call that bullshit. NTM Extended does add some features, but a lot of people find them "slop". For example, UU matter and DNT chargers. UU matter, with the UU matter gigafactory, is a retextured Watz plant with light steel and dark purple colors, of UU matter that creates extreme amounts of UU matter that goes into mixers that make the same extreme amount of material.
A lot of people find it "slop" or call it "cheater fluid". I mean no offense, but thats bullshit. That thing uses 5 PHe to condense giant production plants into 1 item. Id honestly use more power, with a system that fucking generates 180EHe/s. Its not worth letting shit get out of render or having to work with multiple fucking mods like Thermal dynamics or fucking Ender IO and shit, and this makes more anyways. Then theres Neoveline, which I do believe is bullshit, its just wish.com balefire. Like what the fuck is Neoveline fucking used for? FEnSU assembly? You can make that on regular NTM with something else, I dont fucking know, I havent checked yet, I may update you on that, I dont fucking know how to fucking use fucking NEI on 1.7.10, NEI is fucking bullshit. People find NTM Extended fucking slop, but I can only say thats only become more fucking true. Its missing a bunch of features like basic electricity connecters, the PWR, and now fluid barrels with hazards give fucking effects and radiation, its fucking bullshit, like Schrabidium trisulfide is fucking radioactive, blinding, and gives fucking effects. Then Alcater made that give no effects in creative, maybe Alcater watched my video, but then he continued with the enshittification and gave particle accelerator fucking coils fucking radiation? What fucking bullshit. At this point, its just a bunch of fucking lunacy thats just forcing people into 528 mode.
NTM Community as a replacement
NTM Community is a version that is supposed to be a fully complete port of 1.7.10 to 1.12.2 with the 1.7.10 features, like boxducts, basic explosive charges, and the new fusion reactor. This basically renders the 1.7.10 version useless, especially if Leafia states theyve heavily optimized it. That will only incentivize people to switch to that, but some people just fucking hate 1.12.2, but that just sounds like fucking bullshit. NTM Community is a complete port apparently, well I will have to fucking check at that.
Technological issues
In NTM Extended, it uses the default Forge Fluid system for fluid systems, like fluid duct systems and machine components that use them. For example, mixers, fluid tanks, a whole bunch of fucking shit. However, with big modpacks, that can interfere with the system. Other mods that use Forge Fluids will inflict with that, causing them to act like shit. For example, on LCE with 1.12.2 and a bunch of other fucking mods installed, I had a leviathan steam turbine that completely fucking broke. However, when I copied the world to a different release of NTM that wasnt even a Github release, just a Google Drive release, fixed those issues. NTM Community, and regular NTM use HBMs proprietary NTM Fluid system. Leafia says that NTMF sucks ass, but it wont interfere with other mods. NTMF is kinda ass especially with the disgusting textures that are grainy and fucking ugly, but it wont break in big modpacks, but seeing as the mod is open source, well oh fuck, why the hell would people use it, the proprietary system was made solely for that purpose, so it wont interfere with other mods, but it was all made open source because Bob never gave a fuck to fix it, so he had the fucking community do it.
Leafias Cursed Addon
Leafias Cursed Addon for NTM CE will, most prominently as of now, overwrite all of the DFC behaviors. The regular NTM DFC behavior is lame and simplistic as shit. Theres no in depth features like temperature, no dynamic fluctuations, just unrealistic jumps that make it feel like a fucking scratch project rather than an actual simulation. LCE added effects with some cores, for example, Vibrant Singularity makes these dots floating around the core and plays a low, strange, somewhat cosmic sound. Tiny Wormhole makes the thing look like a draconic reactor and makes this strange, resonant sound that also sounds somewhat singularity like, its mostly strange, you have to try it for yourself. Eye of Harmony makes all the Sessrumnir sphere levels spin out of sync and dots go flying around it while it plays a strange, somewhat "glassy", resonant sound. The thingy core gives no effects or sound, but creates extreme power. Leafia has been too lazy to replace LCE from extended to CE, so they just chose to make an addon to go with NTM CE. As much as they say its optimized, I dont want to move over. I fucking shredded up my fingers designing the dimensions and coding the control panels, going through that again is fucking hell, structure pain.
Nonsense
Newer versions of NTM Extended seem to have 528 mode fucking locked the fuck on. Radioactive fluid barrels and hadron coils? Bullshit. Now the CE addon also needs fucking magnetic fluid ducts to transport annihilating fluids. Zuphrus says they look ass, they need power, its just complete fucking bullshit. I dont want to switch to 528 mode, its just absolute fucking nonsense. So is the removal of UU matter These things are supposed to be nice, but as I always say, the best analogy I, and HBM can think of is a cake with glass shards in it. I want to enjoy it, but it simply refuses to let me enjoy it. The cake is nice, but are the shards necessary? Do I have to fucking enjoy a nice cake by having my mouth completely demolished? Why do people act like its some grand fucking achievement to get their guts shredded all fucking up, I know Ive said this several fucking times, but thats just fucking lunacy, more importantly, how fucking hard is it just to completely fucking exclude the shards from the fucking cake to begin with?
528 Mode
In the config of NTM, you can set the difficulty to 528 mode or "super expensive mode" which makes it significantly harder. 528 mode was designed to force users to get off their lazy ass and in general, cause pain and fucking suffering. Then theres "less bullshit mode" for an easier, more simplistic approach to playing the mod. Some people dont like excessive fucking complexity and they want things to be easier, like how HBM wrote a blog post on settings. The name "528" comes from when Bob was playing Black Mesa, it was strangely difficult, and there was a difference of 528 bytes in the config file that was incorrectly written.
What I would like to see
I want to see a version with difficulty settings. In the config, or better in some mod settings accessible via the pause menu, there the user can change the modes, from normal, to less bullshit or 528. So does Minecraft in general, theres peaceful, where undead mobs never spawn, no mobs are hostile, and the hunger bar never goes down. Then theres easy, which is a bit less than normal, which normal mode is just general basic difficulty, with easy being slightly nerfed. Then theres hard mode where zombies can fucking break doors, and the hunger bar running out can kill the player. Then theres hardcore mode which is locked on the hardest difficulty, and if you die, so does the world.
Why fucking do it again
The release of the CE addon has further showed me how lazy some developers can be. They are too lazy to port some mods over, or they dont want to rewrite another one. Theyll just make a new one or perhaps just an addon that requires another mod to go with it. Heres the thing, thats not my choice. I have planned on making "NTM Ultimate" before but then that requires porting, which porting as HBM says, is lame. Go ahead, play games however you want, turn on 528 mode or less bullshit. Im going to play on normal mode. Having 528 mode locked on sounds like hell, which it is. This may have been a bit educational on the development of NTM and other technical circumstances, but its really just me talking about modular enshittification.
