Learn: The Kingdom of God is the central theme of the New Testament. Jesus is the beginning of the Kingdom which will not receive fullness until the Second Coming of Christ. Jesus' parables teach us how to understand the greatness of the Kingdom.
Video: Watch Why Did Jesus Preach in Parables? by The Religion Teacher for a reminder of the power of parables. Watch the Mustard Seed Parable. Jesus told this parable to explain the Kingdom of God.
Catholic Youth Bible (CYB): Read parables Jesus told in Matthew 13:24-48 (CYB pp.1259-1260) to explain the Kingdom of God and how followers of Christ can enjoy everlasting happiness.
Activity: Print and do the Parables of Jesus puzzle to learn about The Parable of the Wedding Feast. Answers on page 2 of this link.
Saint: Read about Saint Damien de Veuster who grew God's Kingdom by showing compassion to isolated victims of leprosy.

Learn: Every member of the Catholic church has the common mission of living and spreading the Gospel. We all have a special role or vocation preparing for the coming of God's Kingdom. Two Sacraments are also vocations: Holy Orders and Matrimony.
Sacrament of Holy Orders: Baptized Catholics participate in the priesthood of all believers. Some men are called to serve Jesus through the Sacrament of Holy Orders. Click here to learn more.

Learn: All people have dignity and are created in God's image and likeness. Jesus told a parable to teach us that all people, especially those suffering from injustice, are the neighbors we are to love. Each person is called to work for justice in God's Kingdom on earth.

Catholic Youth Bible (CYB): Read Luke 10:25-37 (pp. 1361-1362) to connect the Greatest Commandment to the Good Samaritan parable.
Activity: Our conscience enables us to know right from wrong. Examine your conscience with the Lord's Prayer Meditation Video.
Video: Watch The Meaning of Grace to learn about the gift of God's grace which enables us to love ourselves and others.
What can a 7th Grader do today? Have you ever ridiculed or excluded someone who was different? God made each of us unique and each of us in His own image. Treating someone poorly because they are different goes against the teachings of Jesus. It takes courage to lead by example. What can you do this week to reach out to someone who is different from you?

Learn: Jesus tells us God's Kingdom becomes present whenever we love others and live in peace. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus gives us the key to happiness and teaches us how to pray to God.
Video: Watch God's Story: Sermon on the Mount. This is where Jesus gave his followers the Beatitudes and the Lord's Prayer.
Catholic Youth Bible (CYB): Read The Beatitudes in Matthew 5:3-10 (pp. 1240-1241). On that same page read Catholic Connection "Be Happy" to understand Jesus' message of true happiness. Turn to Matthew 6:9-13 (pp. 1244-1245) to read The Lord's Prayer.

What can a 7th Grader do today? Do something beautiful for God today to show your love for Him: pray, go to Mass, or do something kind for another, especially those in need.
