Learn: In Chapter 9 we learn the word catholic means open to all. Everyone is accepted and welcomed. Everyone can hear the Good News of Jesus' Resurrection. As Catholics our mission is to bring the Good News of Jesus to everyone.

Learn: In Chapter 10 we learn about Mass, where all around the world Catholics come together to celebrate Mass in the same way.
Slide Show: The We Gather for Mass slides explain the five parts of the Mass.
Parts of the Mass: Mass is broken into five parts: the Introductory Rites where we are welcomed, the Liturgy of the Word where we hear stories from the Bible and profess our faith, the Liturgy of the Eucharist where the bread and wine become the body and blood of Jesus, the Communion Rite where we pray The Lord's Prayer and receive Holy communion, and lastly, the Concluding Rite where we receive a final blessing and leave.
Activity: Print and do the Celebrating Together Crossword Puzzle to review what we learned. Answer Key here.

Learn: In Chapter 11 we learn Jesus calls all of us to be missionaries. We are to tell others about Jesus and show compassion to all people. Remember compassion means understanding another's problems and wanting to help.
Video: Watch the story of Philip and The Ethiopian.
Missionary: In the story Philip was moved by the Holy Spirit to help the Ethiopian understand Scripture. Philip was a missionary, he was telling others about Jesus and God.
Activity: Print and do The Work of Missionaries fill-in-the-blank sheet to learn what missionaries do. Answers here.
Activity: We are all missionaries. Make Good News Symbols and tell your family the story of Philip and The Ethiopian.
Game: Play Stump the Shepherd. This is a fun "Jeopardy-like" game that you can play alone or with three family members. Good luck!

Learn: In Chapter 12 we learn to pray for all people with the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit. At Pentecost Jesus sent down the Holy Spirit to fill the Disciples with courage and power. The Holy Spirit gave them strength to spread the Good News.

Respond: Mary, Jesus' mother, is a perfect example of someone who listened to the Holy Spirit. Read Mary: An Example of Faith on page 144 of your Workbook to learn more.
