Find God on a local pilgrimageThere are so many beautiful shrines and holy sites within the Chicago area and within a day's drive. When you are traveling plan a quick stop to ignite your family's faith.Most sites can be walked and seen in an hour or two but will stay in your heart for much longer. Google "Catholic Shrines" for the state you are visiting or use a site like https://catholicpilgrimagesites.wordpress.com. Three sites are highlighted in the boxes to the right.
St. Jude, Chicago ILLocated in Chicago, the Claretians religious organization hosts visitors from around the world. St. Jude is the patron saint of the impossible. The shrine includes relics of St. Jude and other saints as well as a beautiful candle room to offer prayers within. You can view the special intentions which are sent to them and placed at and surround the shrine.
St Therese, Darien ILRight in our backyard, this beautiful shrine to St. Therese, the Little Flower, houses outdoor areas of prayer as well as a beautiful museum and chapel. There are many first and second class relics in the museum. An amazing gift shop for all your Catholic needs is also located on the peaceful grounds of this shrine.
Holy Hill, Hubertus WI435 acres of glorious scenery on the highest elevation in Southeastern Wisconsin, Holy Hill is a destination to celebrate faith in a sacred place of peace, beauty and prayer. Holy Hill draws hundreds of thousands of pilgrims annually. Visitors can attend daily Catholic Masses of worship, enjoy the scenic views and walk the life-sized Stations of the Cross in a serene setting. Less than 2 hours from home!
Look for Mary's FlowersGo on a family walk and every time you see a statue of Mary in someone's yard or one of the flowers associated with Mary listed below, say this simple prayer to our Mother: "Blessed Mary pray for me" Roses, the “queen of flowers”. Marigold means Mary’s gold. Rosemary, it’s in the name! Sweet Alyssum with cross-shaped flowers. Lily of the Valley known as Our Lady’s Tears. Impatiens are called Mother’s Love because they constantly bloom. Bleeding Hearts for Mary’s heart and Hyacinth for its star-shape.

Grandparents or elderly neighbors, really everyone loves to get a card or letter in the mail.
