Chapter 4 - The Prayer of Jesus
Learn: Prayer is an ongoing communication with God. Prayer transforms us and allows us to participate more fully in the Incarnation. As a Christian we are to pray as Jesus prayed - alone or with others, aloud or in silence, all ways. We are to pray always, to grow closer to God.
Activity: Read "Gospel Comparisons" on page 1230 of your CYB then print and do the Introduction to the Gospels sheet for an understanding of the 4 Gospel writers.
Catholic Youth Bible (CYB): Immediately following Jesus's baptism, he went into the desert alone to pray to God for 40 days. He was tempted three times. Read the Temptation of Jesus in Matthew 4:1-11, Mark 1:12-13, and Luke 4:1-13. As usual, Luke tells a fuller version of the story.
Activity: Print and do Resisting Temptation to connect Jesus's experience in the desert with temptations we face today.
