Learn: In Chapter 9 we learn about the story of the Journey to Emmaus. This story helps explain why it is so important to understand God's Word. Jesus did not tell the disciples who He was at first. He wanted to build up the disciple's faith in God's promises. Then He revealed Himself.

Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition: We believe God speaks to us through Sacred Scripture (the Bible) and Sacred Tradition (passed down to us through the Apostles).
Activity - Learn about a Saint: St. Jerome believed everyone should be able to read Scriptures. He spent years translating the Old and New Testament into Latin. Translate St. Jerome's message in your Workbook on page 115.

Learn: In Chapter 10 we turn to the celebration of the Mass to learn more about the most important of the Seven Sacraments, The Eucharist.

The Mass: In the Liturgy of the Word we hear about God's love for His people and the teachings of Jesus. In Liturgy of the Eucharist we celebrate the Paschal Mystery - Jesus' suffering, death, resurrection and ascension into heaven. When we receive Jesus in Holy Communion, God's grace fills our soul.
Activity: Print and do the Paschal Mystery Crossword to reflect on Jesus' suffering, death, resurrection and ascension. Answer Key here.
Game: Play the Interactive Word Search related to Holy Communion called "Holy Search".
Prayer Video: Pray along to the Nicene Creed, which we pray during Mass.

Learn: We are all called to be saints. When we pray the Apostles' Creed in Mass, we say we believe in the Communion of Saints. The communion includes the believers on Earth, the saints in Heaven who live in perfect harmony with God and the souls in Purgatory, awaiting their eternal reward.
Video: Watch Let Your Light Shine - Animated Jesus Quotes. Jesus called himself the Light of the World. He calls each of us to be like him.
Activity: Print and read the The Light on a Mountain parable to your family and help everyone understand Jesus' message.
Service: Be a light to others. Look at the SJC Service Opportunities or make three "Thinking of You" cards for others in need and drop them in the YC drop box.
Activity - Learn about a Saint: Read about Saint John Bosco here. He believed all children were called to be saints.
Prayer Video: Listen to a Litany of Saints like the one on page 136 of your Workbook.

Learn: In Chapter 12 we focus on the most perfect prayer, The Lord's Prayer. When we pray The Lord's Prayer, we let go and trust that God knows what is best for us. We learn The Lord's Prayer has 7 Petitions, the first three are to the glory of God and the next four petitions we present our needs to God.
Video: Watch The Meaning of the Lord's Prayer by The Religion Teacher.
Activity: Read Praying As Jesus Taught Us on page 144 of your Workbook to get an explanation of the Lord's Prayer.
Action: Challenge yourself to pray for someone else for an entire week. Praying for others builds the body of Christ.
Game: Play Bible Trivia: The Lord's Prayer by yourself or with your family. It's fun!
